- Bangkok is going through some big changes, They are mostly positive, I think the idea of putting the cables underground is great, I do have concerns with the execution of it all... I love Thailand and this is a look at how this country is constantly improving for locals and tourism!

You are not a youtuber.. you are a film maker… your editing is really entertaining.. I also love that you don’t do 5 minutes of eating.. you do these splash cuts that are really good… Expat in the Philippines here and vloggers here could learn something from your creativity..
Thank you, my favourite compliment is to be called a film maker 🥰
Real talk!
@@Sanman1212😂😂 are you the angry expat type, upset at younger peoples success? Yelling at TH-camrs asking for work permits 😂
@sanman1212 that’s a weird question, I pay the Same taxes as everyone, believe me.. I wish I didn’t have to pay tax 🤣🤣
Yo
I love the disorganized chaos of this country. I don't think I'd have it any other way
I agree. It is why I go there.
It’s hard to be bored in Bangkok. Bangkok has everything! What makes Thailand Thailand is the people! They are so awesome! Can’t believe it’s been 1 years since I was last there
Mate your vlogs have become mini works of art
Oh I’m blessed!! Thanks mate!!
agreed
loved travelling to phuket and seeing signs that say "saftey is our no. 1 priority" always made me chuckle
i used to show all my friends the wires around Bangkok and the look on the faces was priceless, its sad to see that the wires are going but it will look better. Keis im with you about the sidewalks lots are crap and dangerous. Lets hope they get fixed soon Bangkok would look so much better and safer to walk. cheers keis stay safe
Not a simple job to simply just drop those networks underground. For the copper and fibre telecom cables there will be some huge amount of planning required not only to move it but also to ensure network downtime is kept to a minimum.
Brother - the in/out edit at the Honda place was pretty damn cool....nice touch. I had to go back, first take was "no...he didn't", but you did.
Great watch, thank you 😊 im heading to bangkok in august, can't wait for the sights, smells & chaos! X
Yeah I dunno i arrived Sunday had visited twice in the 90's I think you are perhaps missing the speed of which Thailand's modern rise has been achieved in 1990 i recall maybe a few tall buildings next time in 1997 it was bamboo scaffold and skyline of modern buildings now it's just mindboggling and the energy is amazing!
Yeah it’s so interesting that for as modern as the buildings and malls etc are, other parts are way behind
Well in Keisy, always found the electrical wiring fascinating hehe 🤙
Great blog! Love your passion for the city. It’s definitely the little details which need tending to. That still separates BKK from Tokyo or Seoul.
Those cables and sidewalks do give the city charm :) I am a systems design engineer and structured cable engineer so I can tell this was years of "add on" cables to get it to be like that :) Where I live in the states most electrical, cables, and fiber are underground.
They don’t remove the electric poles but are likely to leave them there. I’m pretty sure it won’t be long before new spaghetti wires show up because the internet workers are too lazy to put all the new wires underground.
I watched them tear a bunch of wire down the other day in Samyan on my break, sad to see it go myself as well 555
I've said this often! Everything that is wrong with Bangkok/Thailand is everything that I like about Thailand😂😂😂
Yeah, I feel that way too.. but would really enjoy a nicer walk lol
It’s what makes it so interesting and never a dull moment
However, locals don’t feel that way. They are the ones who fall into open manholes, trip on objects, and walk on broken tiles that spill dirty water onto their shoes.
your getting pretty clever with the fancy shots ! looks good , great video work young fella
Several years ago they moved the cables under ground in parts of Pattaya. Good to see they're doing it in Bangkok.
This road in the Asoke Montri area is being undergrounded with electrical and communication cables. And they are designing the same sidewalk as Silom Road. 😊
ค่อยๆ ปรับปรุงไปตามกำลัง เสาไฟที่ไม่ใช้ก็เอาไปกันคลื่นในทะเล
The explanation of the remaining cables and poles is really simple they are using Telstra Engineers to do it and honestly I am impressed about how much work they did do but no doubt nobody in that district has phone lines power or internet anymore
I've walked 1000's of hours in BKK, never seen a wheel chair or people on crutches, also appreciate only a quick view of the food, as I am not into the, highly processed, seed oils, and sugar sweetened food anymore, as am to old for that now
Not only BKK , I have lived in Udon Thani and a couple of other Thailand citys and they are all the same.
I love my walk/jog between Asok and Phrom Phong.. Hit the gym then dodge the sidewalk mines on the way back home lol.
The food vendors in Soi Tonson completely occupy the pedestrian walkway, forcing people to risk their lives by walking in traffic. They turn it into a sidewalk café but never pay rent.
The Wiring gave Bangkok its charm for years I will miss them when they are all gone, but yes if they want to keep up as a modern city they will eventually have to go.
great video again keep up the great work.😎😎
Your video clip is very good. I will send the clip to my government. Ashamed of what the government has done.😊❤
That street food looked great 👍👍😋😋 nice portion size
Love ur vids bro, I’m sure it’s not easy keeping the productive juices flowing in Thailand with so many distractions, glad ur doing it and keep it up
Ur such a film maker Adam!!! Haha jus kidin 😅 but ya ur RW4U video rocked
After wiring those cables underground, electric and communation, those poles will be removed. Then sidewalk is next things to fix.
I really hope so!!
Agree that the sidewalk planning and maintaining needs a serious upgrade,,, not only in BKK but most city planning neglect. But strangely I find if you go to the parks or urban park between buildings is premium architect, material composites and in some places cleaning.... Krung Thep is an amazing place to explore...
Yeah sometimes random areas are so nice, it’s weird that the downtown seems neglected
I really enjoyed This video because it is filmed with some really good transitions and the quality is really good and the audio as well. Sorry if I am asking this question. I just want to know what is your Vlog camera and do you use an external microphone and what kind of editor do you use? Much appreciated.
And is the music made by yourself? It is pretty awesome
Thank you
All good, there are links to everything I use in the description 😊
I love the caos and the will to get things done without getting stopped by the miner details. Same same but different🤪Love Bangkok.
Walking in Bangkok is a minefield to negotiate. At night it's even more dangerous. In my village I used to swim daily. One day walking across some decking it collapsed and I fell through up to my groin, my head struck a concrete post. The pool decking sub structure had been eaten away by white ants. Cut scalp and leg and deep tissue damage to my thigh and hip. The village management gave me a basket of that Brand chicken stock stuff to drink as an "apology". If it had happened in Australia I'd have been properly compensated.
No public liability in Thailand 😅
I wonder if there just cashing in on the cost of recycling all them cables 😀. Knowing what the side walks are like over there you have to look up and down when walking around. Great work.
I believe the sidewalks are the shop owners job so that's why they only fix a part of the sidewalk and not the whole street. maybe this is how it is in many places I've been
Haha, love it. A lot of this is the same in USA in any city. Often you have boxes and poles on the sidewalk and always wonder "Who had this idea?". You can even see that in areas that are just 20 years old and it doesn't matter if on the East or West coast. I put an image of Bangkok style wiring on Insta a while back that was in Miami Beach and asked "Is this Thailand?". And I remember a big wooden pole with massive phone cables just at the corner of google HQ in Mountain View. Just imagine the "financial damage" this can cause if somebody cuts that down🤣. In Thailand it is part of the experience and maybe lack of funds, in the US, it is part of doing things as cheap as possible.
Because when it was installed a century ago there wasn't much wiring and they didn't realise how much it would increase
@@christopherpekel6096 LOL, ah, nope. I live in Las Vegas, Summerlin. All pretty new, yet you still have boxes on the sidewalk you have to go around. I lived in Henderson 3 years ago and there were wooden poles on the sidewalk on a mayor street. The main reason is cost. Whatever is cheapest is the way to go.
@@gloofisearch oh sorry - I was trying to say when they installed them in Bangkok there wasn't much at all going to buildings. If you look at really old photos you can see this. They have added more and more wires over time
@@christopherpekel6096 Ah, good point. Yeah, you are right on that front. I was just comparing it to US.
Gonna miss the wires
Bangkok is perfect as it is. the traffic, the cables, the pavement, the people, sweet, calm and friendly, สบายๆ the whole park is connected, so we just have to watch out when we walk.
Not the Sidewalks! Even paying attention when there are a lot of ppl one step could make you trip and fall! The Sidewalks Need to Improve Drastically!
Small steps. Did you notice the snow sales people are back?
I like the wires cuz they provide some shade. Hopefully they can plant some trees.
What's interesting for me is that I never recognized the "spaghetti wiring" until TH-camrs pointed it out. It was there when I first visited Thailand 40 years ago, but there were so many other things that caught my attention that it went under my radar. 🤣
It may also because I grew up in a small town with a telephone pole right in front of my house. It was hard to ignore the line running from the pole to our house. Those poles are still there.
Tuk Tuk for 100 baht is a great deal.. even if you're just going to the next soi. ha ha. Good job on this video. This is one of your better ones. Like all the content. Food, tuktuks, street wires (mess), sidewalks, etc... FYI.. polls are staying forever ha ha. Good B roll too. This isn't your typical TH-camr content.
Wow. Never expected them to do that. Congrats to Thailand though. That’s a big change.
How will underground wires survive during rainy season when Bangkok floods? I hope those sewer systems get upgraded or they'll be lots of blackouts! 🔦⛈🚦
They're enclosed in waterproof conduit, and the wires themselves aren't affected by it.
Its a step in the right direction until it rains then there will be numerous short circuits hopefully not only time will tell.
I'm sure the scrap price of the metal, hanging from those poles, has a lot to do with it...
0:03 I could see the bus wing mirror clack the corner of the pantec.
Yeah! Funny thing was they both just drove off after!!
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration should be ashamed of the city’s poor sidewalks. It’s heartbreaking to see the never-ending digging projects all over the place, leaving the pavement full of ugly scars. Unattended open manholes are like Venus flytraps waiting for their prey. If anyone walks carelessly, they might end up tripping on dangerous objects on the ground.
Heh, as a full time wheelchair user who has been to Bangkok, yep it's really really unfriendly to wheelchairs!
Keis ! Once again !! Slaying this life my man.
You dropping content is good for my soul haha.
If you cease to do so then we’re gonna have a problem 🤣🤣🤟🏻.
Keep at it my man.
Your mate……. Cookie the DISGRACE 🤟🏻🤟🏻
My man!!!
I will miss the crazy bird's nest wiring, But seeing it go is a safer option.
I was electrocuted for a second or two On Second Road in Pattaya I was steadying myself against a pole so I could re-tie my shoe.
Holy shit!! Were you ok?
Editing masterpiece brother 🙏❣️🍺
yeah loved the intro with the video music bounce.... not sure the tech editing term
Cheers guys! I had some fun with this one 😊
You should be Lord Mayor
You could make this one of the best cities in the world
Minor fixes making major improvements
As funny as this sounds, I’m gonna miss the wires in Bangkok for nostalgic reasons of course 🙏
Agree the sidewalks need to be wider and even. I tripped over a bump just from walking 😂
Happy to see it look clean but its what makes Bangkok so unique. Bittersweet in a way.
man is there ever a time when someone is not hustling you? this is the part that makes me wonder about going there... 250 down to 100 baht! it just seems like everything is up for grabs and you would be an ijit to not negotiate almost everything. I guess one of the reasons why it is so cheap there. as a cable guy, I love the horror story cabling jobs. they generally end up in our training classes and such.
Great job keys 🎉I’ve heard that they have started that.. will they finish it 🤔😂
Hope so!
Definately an improvement to get rid of all that spagetti wiring. Thailand needs to evolve, just like any other country.
Yeah and that’s what I think, it can look like a 3rd world country in places but it’s suuuuper nice in others!
If you think the sidewalks are bad there, you should see Manila.
Keisy how are you mate. Love your work buddy.
Cheers bud! I’m doing great 😊
Mate may seem an irrelevant question but on your walk abouts have you noticed if the front of the landmark has opened back up after the refurbishment?? Loved sitting there for a beer was a bit disappointed christmas when we visited cheers
All you TH-camr expats are coming over trying to change Thailand and change the city!!!!! 😂😂😂 J/K J/K I appreciate all your videos. Thanks!
lol you should parody casey neistats "bike lanes" BKK SIDEWALKZ
But all those wires are so interesting to look at. Please keep some...
I’m sure the backstreets will remain, and the rest of bangkok
Certainly compared to Aus, the Thai power line setup caught my attention. 🤔
Hahahaa yeah lol
The tangled mess of wiring was a joke. It didn't reflect well on the city. It will look immensely better once they are underground and out of sight. IMHO BKK has lost it's charm. I guess that's progress.
Cheers mate,
🙂
What Honda part is that,.. I’m guessing something to do with fuel ?
I like th wiring also hehehe
Not when you are walking on the sidewalk though lol! There are enough obstacles on the sidewalk the less the better
Cool vlog ❤
0:44 cool edit 😎
Rainy season comes early this year,do you think it's still going to rain in october?im going to thailand this october..
I totally agree
Both end of an era and a good thing. It'll take them years to complete everything so you've still got time to stare at the spaghetti.
Yeah I agree!
KEEP IT REAL DUDE, NOBODY GAF ABOUT SIDEWALKS IN BKK. JUST GET OUT THERE AND ENJOY LIFE.
That being said, thank you for the quality content.
Choke Dee
Wishful thinking that one day I can ride a skateboard down the sidewalk 🤣
anyone who thinks this is a bad idea is stupid.... progress is the way.
I strongly agree with the side walk, my first impression of it causes me to turn into Super Mario and jump up and swerve left and right. Hopefully they fix it.
Sidewalk encroachment is a way of life in Thailand 😆 I’d hate to be in a wheelchair. Right outside Fortunetown has some of the best wires running everywhere. I saw them building a new paver side walk outside Lumpini - zero base (gavel underlay) just put the pavers on dirt, that will never last but TiT 😊
All for infrastructure improvements as long as they benefit the locals above the interests of investors. Would hate to see Bangkok become sanitised like Singapore, a city where you worry about farting out of tune.
Haha I’m sure there is a happy medium somewhere, I agree that Singapore lack a charm in the downtown
What will the squirrels use to get around now
I’ve been a “foreigner” in Thailand for 6 years. I don’t really haggle with the locals unless it’s outrageous. Don’t you feel a little obligated to give them the 200 even though it’s 150? Really just wondering how others feel
I expect to pay a fair price, I’m happy to go back and forth until we both agree, I think a lot of Thai people see foreigners as holiday goers with big wallets, it was very different here during covid and I got a much better understanding of what things should be worth
Mate, I will Miss the ridiculous wiring because it’s one of the characterful ‘charms’ of the city.
BUT it’s a shambles. The day that Soi Cowboy and Nana Plaza get ‘tidied up’ will make it just pretty, modern but soul-less city
เดินระวังๆกันด้วยนะครับโดยเฉพาะกลางคืน😅😅
not a sidewalk I mean
I've wanted to skate so bad in Bangkok, but the streets are crazy busy and the pavements are shot to bits. Can you skate in any parks? I skate a cruiser board so I'm not interested in skateparks.
There’s a few skate parks I heard I remember one was called pink park (I’m not a skater just smoke herb and the local shop guys board)
Not removing the poles is silly.
being physically incapable to walk long distances anymore (at least for now), footpaths are the worst. especially with the walking stick. theres no ability for wheelchairs. period. i live in sathorn, one of the more modern areas and the paths are pathetic. ill forever complain about them, so im with you there, keisy!
holy crap, the things people are bitching about on this video in the comments that have nothing to do with it.. jfc.. better man than me putting up with that crap, adam.
If you think Bangkok sidewalks are bad,Try Yangon
Yes, and also the Philippines, especially around the old red light districts of Mabini, mh del pilar areas
Expecting anything to be up to western standards is unrealistic. A lot of western countries still don't have all of their wiring underground. Enjoy what improvements you can get.
Bangkok is sinking so the sidewalks are shite. They will need to fix them every year, so I think the just decided....what's the point???
Ankle breakers around every turn, be careful.
… Rome wasn’t built in a day … sure, let’s get on with it!
I think the government maybe needs tax revenue from buying vehicles. So they don't want to improve the sidewalk. There's a law 300% import vehicles tax in Thailand.
300% import on everything!! Yeah I hope they do it..
I don't think these changes are for the better. Bangkok will just become another boring city and lose all of its character. Most cities around the world are becoming carbon copies of each other, it's sad to see!
I think it’s just in the downtown, most of the rest of the city will still remain like that
Lol I agree it's part of the character for bkk but it's definitely for the better. Safer, easier to work on, etc etc ...
Change take time .
Long time 🤣
Your videos r like watching movie..
Do you call them sidewalks for the septics? They are footpaths in Australia lol
Thai's hardly ever walk anywhere more than a few meters
Whose idea was that? Probably a corrupt local official getting a kickback from the sign vendor.
Sucking a sign next to a pole and box blocking the sidewalk? It’s unbelievable haha
come on mate your not American it's a bloody footpath so a sidewalk
Haha I know, but when I say footpath here no one know what I’m talking about haha
Your a guest im this beatuful country full of character and charm just the way it is.your home coutry has all the rules regulations and so called westerm world infrastructre you keep longing for.
