Excellent d-pad, solid buttons, and great build quality.

      I’ve got 2 of the 8bitdo SN30’s (the ones that are flat like a SNES controller) and the pro model that has handgrips. I didn’t pay a penny for any of them as they were the subscription gift with Retro Gamer magazine in the UK. The flat ones are great for kids to play multiplayer when we visit family (with the joycons it means easy 4 player). The more advanced model doesn’t get used at all, as I use the Nintendo Pro Controller myself and my kids are not fans of the sticks being next to each other. Good controllers nonetheless.

    These NSO classic controllers are really cool. I bought the SNES and N64 earlier this year. And honestly, they are really cool. I love that they feel just like the orginals. I own both retro consoles, and it gives me a good idea of what these controllers felt like brand new. I didn't get the NES or Genesis ones because they looked pretty pointless. SNES is amazing for any 2d game both old and new. I love using it for GBA games on the system. Although you can use a button combo to get to the home screen with the SNES controller in the SNES app, but it only works for that app. Doesn't work with any other game. And the N64 controller is necessary if you actually want to play N64 games on the switch. Because the control mapping for a pro controller is more weird than an N64 controller.
    But yeah these controllers are super fun. I get all giddy when i use one. They are really fun to use for MK8DX with friends. Because Mario Kart hasn't changed in 30 years, you can still use an SNES controller. And the N64 controller is fun to use as well in Mario Kart.

    the n64 app with the official controller has been my favorite "game release" this generation. Ive played through each game on release and love it to death. I like the drip feed, as giving me all the games at once would just overwhelm me. I think this "drip feed" model is much more fun then a game pass model. Ive spent an hour browsing game pass, only to quit because I couldent decide what to play. But yesterday turok 2 released on nso, so no need to choose, I just play through whatever is new. I think it is vastly superior to the virtual console

    And one thing Scott didn’t mention about these controllers: you can pair them to other devices as standard Bluetooth controllers. Their functionality may be limited, but it’s still pretty cool if you’re playing emulators on PC.
    But the thing I personally do with them: pair them with Bluetooth adapters so I can use the wireless controllers on their original systems. That feels great. I love experiencing old games on their original hardware, and having the ability to play those games with wireless controllers that are still authentic to their original designs is awesome.

    I find it odd that the n64 control was never made an official controller for smash ultimate. It wouldn't be a selling feature, but it would have been a cute novelty that pays respect to how the series started.

    • @dialga236
      @dialga236 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      its probably because smash ultimate would be hardcore on the stick, which in a really odd choice replicates the original stick design (the undisputed worst part of the original n64 controller, as the original stick had plastic on plastic grinding), but with some lubricant added to the parts. while the stick is likely to last much longer then the original sticks, its not ideal and likely will have degredation issues in the future. and a fighting game is one of the most intesive games on a controller i can think of, so i can understand why it was never advertised.

    One thing I like about the NES/SNES controllers is that 8bitdo makes a Bluetooth adapter with a nunchuck connection that you can use with the NES/SNES Classic/Mini systems and use the NSO controllers with. So when my kids are using the Switch and I've got a craving for NES/SNES I can play on another TV and not have to deal with the 2' controller cord of the NES Classic

But that was mainly on the Konami collection games giving you the ability to play each game within those collections with the original controller you would have used such as the first 3 castle vania games or super castlevania with the snes controller.

    These controllers are cool, especially the SNES one! My only gripe is that I can’t buy the Japanese variants without jumping through some weird hurdles. The Famicom Joy-Cons have cool colors, and the 2nd controller has a working microphone. And the Japanese Genesis (Mega Drive) one is the 6-button variant! Plus, they work well on the American (and European) NSO apps.
