Yup. Those cues can get so refined on a sensitive horse. My former chestnut mare would react to the slightest change in leg position and ounces of pressure. So much fun😊
@@equestrianjules It does make some things easier when a horse is a little dull. The ultra sensitive ones always anticipate everything!!! They can read your mind. It’s frustrating in the show ring😁
Working on this with my mare and let me tell you it really only takes maybe 3-4 weeks consistent training to get the cue engrained, I could go into detail but long story short when she gets anxious she gets fast, but getting fast makes her more anxious, in her mind ANY leg used to mean go fast, but after maybe a month of consistent training and not releasing the pressure when she moved forwards I now have a horse who’ll yield off leg only and turn beautifully with out rein
Most horse people don’t understand “ask and as soon as the horse does what you want, then release the pressure.” We’ve done that before not knowing how horses think - we accidentally taught my daughter‘s 4h show pony to cock her foot when she was being squared up for showmanship. We didn’t realize that when we asked her to “square” and she got her feet in the right spot, she then cocked her foot and we released the pressure and said “good girl!” But way too many people are harsh and think “this horse is just stupid”. Well, when they don’t release the pressure when the horse does the right thing; then the horse keeps thinking “what do you want me to do? I will do what you want, but I have no idea what you want.”
Yep. We all need to speak the horse language. Ask and release the pressure immediately when the right answer is given or even attempted when it’s first being taught. Also move the feet and “make the right thing easy and the wrong thing hard.”
I prescribed to his channel and I asked for help so many times. I lost my right leg and I needed advice on a few things he never answered. But thank God people read the comments and people reached out to me and gave me help. Thank you all
Unfourtantly i think you must be a patreon for him to answer your questions. Im so sorry about your leg but yes girl you can still ride. I would start first of with a stick and use that as my missing leg .
@TPWK216 thank you for taking the time to answer and your help. Just one thing, I am a man lol but I wish I could post videos. I've been writing a friend's horse. I finally got that piece. Feel so good to ride again
@@michaelcavazos4143 im so sorry for answering as you was a girl. My mistake! Im happy for you to find a horse you can ride. Im absolutly sure of that a horse does not care if you have one leg or two. You two will found out how to community with each other and find your own special language. 💪🐎
Those spurs are not heavy as they are rolling, those who are like solid and pointy is the worst kind. But I understand what you mean, I cant ride with spurs myself, I must have the sensation so I know what kind of preassure i use. A good rider dont need spurs 💪🐎
Ha ...I literally just did that on my young mule. Totally aborted the mission of getting him to step over to the gate cuz he went forward. Glad they can forgive and learn when we get our sht together. 😂😂
@@Haileyyy_684 They aren’t. Those look like reining roweled spurs, that are spinning disks with little blunt teeth on them. Definitely a spur to be used only by experienced horsemen, but Ryan uses them well.
Guys please stop using spers i kick myself almost everyday that most horses get abused from spers and even tho there are some good people out there that use spers I still hate it

Could you do a video on how the horse should move with each spot 1,2 and 3 on them cues
Wow. That's the Rolls Royce of horses! Beautiful!

Good talk.
Why do so many trainers wear heavy duty spurs 24/7? Why would you ever use them?

Thats a beautiful horse
Yes I See thar Legs in front counter Changing bastions ❤❤👍🤠💯
Can someone explain to me that if your riding a horse that is engaging with snd is responsive why do you need big star spurs???
Can refine a horse better and they learn quicker if you teach these points on the ground first
I'm doing a job with my horse 🐎 and I'm going inout of cone is that good for my horse Nanette
Nice video. Thanks Ryan
Also crisp n clean image. Can I ask what camera you were filming on?
🤔
Ahahahaha! If only i saw this before!! SO exactly me! Awesome
Is that a Louis vutton horse
Yeah my legs work differently and I get in a huff sometimes lol. Poor horse gets confused sometimes.
Me too ❤😂
Omg that thing on your shoes
Thank you Ryan. So when he steps forward do you keep the leg on until he turns?
I would use the rein and body weight cues as well, to teach him what you want. When he understands, you can drop down to just the leg cue.
tornado weather much?

The spurs 🤢🤮

Love those spurs!
Get rid of those spurs!
I hate seeing spurs. They are so unnecessary if you school your horse properly.
Bit, spurs.. 🙄
Can you explain what problem you have with them?
No spurs. Bad guy.
Do you really need the spurs? I find them just as disgusting as using a crop on a racehorse!
Why are you using swivel spurs?? This is clearly abuse
Leg on? What does leg on mean? What is leg on? On what?
Why spurs????
why not?
