I am a trolley modeler and I find your idea of hot gluing rails down an interesting idea. Some trolley modelers will spike down flex track and then pave over it similar to what you have done. Only drawback is you may see the ties in the flangeway. I like your technique in that you are assured of not seeing the ties since there are none. Other possible paving materials are Durhams water putty, Hydrocal or Das air hardening clay. Bricks can be carved into them. Some modelers avoid any materials that can create dust that might get into gears.

Plaster of Paris aka Woodland Scenics Smooth-it works great for a road surface. It's a finer plaster that is a better suited for scale applications. It prevents the big pot holes and rough surface wall plaster leaves.

Nice video. The only thing that I do differently is I use scrap plastic along the inside of the rails, to form the flangeways, when I apply the spackle. Then remove the strips while the spackle is still wet. Keep up the good work, I really enjoy your videos.

I used circuit board ties with shallow cuts to eliminate shorts. Used girder style track that replicates trolley track. Bought track gauges and after lining up the tracks soldered down the rails. Only need ties every few inches. Paved with spackling dyed with black paint to avoid white spots. Made squeegee out of brass shim stock. Runs over the rail tops and sets plaster street slightly below the tracks to make cleaning tracks easier.

I would suggest its easier to use regular track and then proceed to do the plaster as you did covering the ties.
