Just throwing a wrench regarding unenchanted cards, the 2024 run of lorcana cards are much more rounded, and the rarity icons (and font) are brighter than the 2023 run. I've compared this to 2023 packs and 2024 packs all from toys r us and my LGS. Not sure about enchanted though.
Yes, absolutely. I mentioned the same thing in the video that there is variance in the corner roundness. Really it’s important to look for as many of the differences as possible to help identify the fakes 🕵️♂️
Alot of chapter 1 reprints have the curved edges like the fake malifacent dragon you showed and quality control has been super bad lately with the inks being darker and lighter and even figure out whats even real anymore. Enchanteds are like the easiest to tell
Totally! The quality is all over the place. Our go-to for non-Enchanteds is for sure the rarity icon which usually looks much flatter, based on the ones we purchased for research
This saved me from a fake card. I bought an enchanted stitch on mercari and turns out it was fake because the white text on the bottom was holo. I told the seller right away and got customer support to get me a refund. Thank god for this video

A really good video with a major flaw. Especially the last point "coloration" can be very very misleading as Ravensburger itself has big Quality issues, even with legit cards. For example, I pulled the same card from two different boosters (I dont remember if they were from the same batch or from different production runs 2023 and 2024) and they had VASTLY different coloration (one had a much redder hue than the other) Currently, coloration is not a good indicator of a fake card, while the legit prints have these issues. Please be aware of that.

In fact we mention this detail at the end of the coloration section of our video. 😊 Having said that, from our experience, a fake card’s coloration is even more distinct and apparent. It is not just about the contrast and color levels, but almost a different color choice altogether. Us too! There is a lot of variability in the print runs for sure. We definitely don’t recommend ever taking any single one of these examples as definitive proof of a fake. Everything needs to be considered together. Having said that, the level of foil is very different between the ones from first chapter, and the ones shown in this video. The fakes card have a VERY STRONG foil leaking through the lettering, while the real ones (foil or not), is still based on top of a white layer (that the fake ones doesn't have).
If you're just buying these cards to play the game, would it really matter which cards you get? I think it only matters if you're goal is to collect. But even then, the quality control from Ravensburger is inconsistent.
In my opinion, I think the main “issue” is buying something, expecting to be original (and charged as if it is an official/original card) and then realizing you got scammed with a fake card. Even a bigger issue, if you are a collector for sure.
@@InkbornHeroes Once they figure out how to remove the foil from the text area, the fine line between original and fake disappears, because in the end the only difference is that paper with graphics was printed by two different machines, and the only thing that makes anyone upset would be just knowing it was bought by a third party without any physical proof that it was. Also what if a third party perfects the process and sells an enchanted as the original? The buyer will forever believe that it's an original and nobody will be able to prove it otherwise. So it virtually remains as the "original" lorcana card forever.
Unfortunately they are VERY SIMILAR! If you are very familiar with the texture, you might be able to tell them apart. I believe the majority of people might struggle.

Aurora was the Enchanted I got in my first opening. I'll never sell it, as I took it as a sign I should go with collecting Lorcana. One of the prettiest cards to date.

That's exactly what a lot of people do. And for as long as you disclose it, when playing a match, I think that's alright. The biggest issue might be on serious tournaments, but otherwise, it could be perfectly fine on some people's eyes.
I've ever pulled one enchanted and it has black matte bottom with absolute no foil or effect but is it possible for real enchanted cards to have matte black bottom but some foil or effect to be present, I've heard others say it can but I only know of one real card to compare to and not sure all cards are exactly same or if some shine or effect gets into the bottom of card... btw not like a proxy cards as those are very easy to tell and whole card is shiny foil but just talking bottom part?
Hey there! Some of the latest prints of chapter 1 and 2 can indeed have SOME amount of foil effect on top of the artists name and Disney copyrights. These aren’t as strong, reflexive and apparent as the proxy/fake ones we show in the video though. The difference of intensity is quite easily identifiable. Fake enchanted are getting more and more well done. We will be making a new video analyzing the latest changes at some point during this 3rd set: into the Inklands.
I can see the pros and cons for that. It is just a very delicate topic to support, as the majority of people have being using this to scam other people. Which is a horrible thing to do, obviously!

The only issue with card edges is now with the second printing of The First Chapter and with Rise of the Floodborn the cards have more rounded edges.

Currently, coloration is not a good indicator of a fake card, while the legit prints have these issues. Please be aware of that.
