I just listened to the movie versions of these songs. I swear yours are better. They’re so beautiful and adapt to mood and the lyrics better. This song will always be my favorite ❤
I'm imagining an old Lucy gray sitting with an old Coriolanus snow in a world where Snow didn't let greed and power go to his head. A snowy evening in December, a fireplace is cracking in the background, and they are happy
This was my favorite song from the book the melody you created for it is so beautiful 😭❤️ makes me emotional this was one of the last scenes in the book that Lucy saw snow as a good person the calm before the storm 😭💔
It was mine too! I absolutely love the lyrics. And it truly is soo heartbreaking that this is one of their last moments of sweetness. Thank you so much!! ❤
Also guys I just have a random question - what do you think happened to Lucy gray My theory- Lucy gray takes snow purposely to the shed full of the weapons and tells him to not take any of them to test him to see if he chooses to run away with her to put himself at risk or to take the guns to remove all memories of his murder but put her at risk. She then says she wants to go dig up katniss and she begins to sing to manipulate him at his weakest point. Power. Snow then chases her and she makes sure the snake bites him. I think Lucy purposely made sure the snake wasn’t venomous so he would die but to just slow him down so she would escape faster without hurting him. Of course he gets mad and although he’s dizzy he shoots bullets all around him. I’m 99.9% sure she gets hit however not in the neck or head but in the ankle of hand. I think this because she screamed lightly once he shot a bullet and secondly she most likely would’ve been hit no matter how fast she is. I think as she’s dying she slowly sings the hanging tree to manipulate snows weakest point. His power. Once we mockingjays and jabberjays pick this sound up. The whole forest begins to sing it. I think it was so loud that at this point Lucy was screaming in pain and eventually died however snow never heard it because of the loud noise. He runs back and everything is canon to the books after that. But what I think happens is Ivory (Lucy’s younger cousin) or someone in the covey marries someone and become katniss’ great grandma. I think this is great theory as it shows that one of lucys relatives kills snow (like revenge) but I don’t think snow knows Lucy and katniss are related. Finally I think when Lucy gray died the covey and everyone else supposed the mayor kidnapped her and she eventually gets forgotten and replaced by the bands new head singer. Thanks for listening to my theory. I’m a new TH-camr so I would appreciate if u check my channel out ;)
Hey ! Your theory is so good, but in my opinion Snow knew Katniss and Lucy were related. Not at the beginning during the Reaping but surely when she started to sing Deep in the Meadow for Rue, as Lucy Gray did for Ivory
I think that Maude Ivory could be Katniss' gradmother from father's side. That's why he would know "The hanging tree", sing with mockingjays and love music so much. And also his mom could show him this lake in the forest - place which she knew from her childhood, and also tell him about these water plants - "katnisses". I'm convinced that that's what Suzanne Collins had in her mind and I'm really dissappointed that she didn't explain Katniss' genealogy in the end.
I think the snake with the scarf was a goodbye message. He was a snake after all. (Not the first time she freaked someone out with a snake.) I wouldn't say she was trying to "manipulate" him with that final song, especially if she was dying. If you are right about the weapons being a test, then she was a bit manipulative before- because she waited him to go with her. If she knew where the weapons were and didn't tell him, then she was already suspecting on some level that he wouldn't go with her if he had a choice to be safe from the murders being connected to him.
I think snow was paranoid about Lucy coming back and that he feared that he didn’t kill her. When Katniss was reaped he didn’t think anything of it but when she sung that song to Rue, he remembered Lucy and his fear came back. As events unfolded he saw more and more of Lucy in Katniss, and when he heard the hanging tree he knew that it was her and that if he was going to die it was going to be by one of Lucy’s descendants. Lucy’s named faded for the world but as Katniss stood in front of him, Lucy was still there.
Omg It! Made me cry!!! Although I knew who Snow was, I was still rotting for him, to chose love instead of power and control. The way she betrayed her, after listening to this song was just heartbreaking
This is beautiful! I love how you put your location as district 12! You have an amazing voice and I love this interpretation of the song! I also love the effort you put into the setting.
I clicked on this and I instantly got hit in the feels because when I was reading the book and got to this part, I felt really bad. its like a TV show (for example, Clone Wars) where you see so many good characters you see later down the line, but you almost feel bad because you know how they'd turn out in the end. You captured this almost perfect, keeping it slightly with some of the word deliverance, but with an emotional tune. I listen to your songs from this over and over and I hope, somehow, you can end up as Lucy Gray Baird in the movie.
The whole time we knew Coriolanus was going to turn to the dark side of him but we didn’t know when and why. You are right. This book was made to teach people about things around this topic
I'm watching clone wars right now!! Anakin was so good 😭 That is such a perfect comparison. I wish that Anakin could have made better choices- chosen a better path- just like I wish Coriolanus did. Ugh the moral heart break- its like watching someone's soul die while they are still alive.
I love all the details- the dry ice representing the snow, the fact the video's location is set to District 12 and the singing is amazing! Exactly what I imagined Lucy to sound like when I read the lyrics in the book. I wish the author could see this. It'd be amazing if this was the actual cover of the song in the movie.

HOLY COW, YOU GOT IT SO SIMILAR TO THE MOVIE VERSION
I love seeing everyone’s melody of the songs now we know the true melody, seeing everyone’s editions gives an almost hidden interpretation on how the books played out. That’s why I’m happy a couple of songs were left out from the movie, they’re still left to interpretation
I just love how the location is district 12
So romantic to have someone write a song like this about you. So sad Lucy Gray wrote this song for him, and Snow so quickly let her down.
With the movie coming soon i needed to revisit my it version of this song
I just listened to the movie versions of these songs. I swear yours are better. They’re so beautiful and adapt to mood and the lyrics better. This song will always be my favorite ❤
We all knew Coryo would be a self serving jerk but it still sucked to watch him snap in that lake house. Do you think Lucy G survived??
yes!!!!
yes 100%
I doubt it, but I cling to a small glimmer of hope that she is still alive and kicking
I'm not over it.. I hope so much. it was muh more heartbreaking than expected.
I’m ten and just wanted to say that my whole school loves ur voice :)
That is the coolest thing ever!! Thank you! Tell your whole school thank you 😃❤
Same here! I sent it to my class group chat and they’re in love!
I'm imagining an old Lucy gray sitting with an old Coriolanus snow in a world where Snow didn't let greed and power go to his head. A snowy evening in December, a fireplace is cracking in the background, and they are happy
🥺
@@MaiahWynne sorry, my writer brain decided to be poetic today lol
@@mmmm-lg2mj I love it! It's a nice alternate ending 😄❤️
@@MaiahWynne thank you✨
These versions will always be my favorite. Nothing compares
This song is definitely for the book, I imagined it like this and I don't know how I didn't see this before. It's lovely! ❤✨🌸
I always forget this is not the ‘official’ version of the song. This is for me though. So sweet, so melodious, so dreamy.
Also guys I just have a random question - what do you think happened to Lucy gray
My theory- Lucy gray takes snow purposely to the shed full of the weapons and tells him to not take any of them to test him to see if he chooses to run away with her to put himself at risk or to take the guns to remove all memories of his murder but put her at risk. I’m a new TH-camr so I would appreciate if u check my channel out ;)
Oh my word!! That is such a good theory and works rlly well!!!!!
(Not the first time she freaked someone out with a snake.)
I wouldn't say she was trying to "manipulate" him with that final song, especially if she was dying.
The way she betrayed her, after listening to this song was just heartbreaking
hopefully just good tears! ❤️❤️
This is beautiful! I love how you put your location as district 12! You have an amazing voice and I love this interpretation of the song! I also love the effort you put into the setting.
Hehe I'm so happy you noticed!😄 apparently it's a place in Maryland! Thank you so much! I have had a lot of fun recreating the scenes ❤❤
Anakin was so good 😭
That is such a perfect comparison. I wish that Anakin could have made better choices- chosen a better path- just like I wish Coriolanus did. Ugh the moral heart break- its like watching someone's soul die while they are still alive.
Also thank you so much!!❤❤
I love all the details- the dry ice representing the snow, the fact the video's location is set to District 12 and the singing is amazing! Exactly what I imagined Lucy to sound like when I read the lyrics in the book. I wish the author could see this. It'd be amazing if this was the actual cover of the song in the movie.
Oh, and I love the dress! It matches what Lucy wears almost perfectly!
God this has me crying. You totally captured the Lucy Gray/Coriolanus love through this song. I’m so heartbroken by how things ended up. You’re 100% Lucy Gray in my headcanon
Awh! Thank you so much 🥺❤ grateful to be Lucy in your head!
nice touch at the beginning patting your pocket like in the book
This song puts a pained smile on my face every time I hear it
3 years later, this sounds a lot like the how the movie got it.
i remember watching these when they came out and after seeing the movie its so interesting to come back and see how they compare. BUT YOUR VERSIONS ARE SO GOOD 🙏
Snow did not deserve her, at all. Such a beautiful song, you did amazing!
Just finished the book and watched all of your covers...OBSESSED.
First of all: this song is just perfect. It's much better than I imagined when reading it. I came to your channel to listen to the songs from 'The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes', and now I listened to a couple of your original songs too. You're just as talented as Billie Eilish, the world hasn't noticed you yet.
This song literally made me cry. I love this sooo much words can’t even show.
Every one of these songs you’ve made from the book make me cry. Tears of joy, chaos, sadness, beauty all together. It brings back memories of the original games, it makes you look at Snow differently, a misguided boy that love couldn’t save, turned tyrant.
So beautiful I am crying. I remember when I read this part of the book. Like everything is alright. They are inlove. They'll be together. They're excited. *sigh* the feels... This is so perfect 💛💛💛
It's one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking sections of the book 😭❤❤thank you!!
U,katniss,Suzanne Collins and the new book has brightened my lockdown
Better then the movie. 1000%. Me and my wife play this version whenever we get to this part in the audiobook
This is one of my fav songs from the book. Thank you so much for singing it!!! ♥️♥️♥️
Mine too! I love the lyrics in this one. I definitely connected with them in a very real way❤❤ and I definitely cried a few times over it😅
I had my reservations about reading the book since im not a fan o prequels but i just spent the past few hours watching your videos and have decided to read the book!
Yayy!! I loved it! I think there's a lot to really enjoy about how it builds on the story and Lucy is just a beautiful character ❤❤ hope you enjoy it!
i'm watching this tmrw and i'm so excited to see the real version but honestly this will always be the real version to me
I don't know how you manage to bring Lucy Gray to life so beautifully, yet you always do 😊 Poor Lucy Gray Baird is now an ink and paper Avox, looking for the lovely voice you stole from her! ❤️
this is actually your best book-tune cover and thats hard because they were all like 3000% amazing!!!!!!!
A true coavy! I think I love the book now a little bit more ❤️
THIS is too perfect; the song, the acting, the scenery... and you just look like I imagined Lucy Gray to look like. Everything fits so perfectly. OMG and your voice brought tears too my eyes.
I know this won't happen but they should cast you for her role in the movie.
Awh thank you so much!!
I love your voice ❤️
Thank you!!!❤❤❤
This was so beatiful😭 I pray every night you Play Lucy in the movie 🤧🤧
Who else thinks Maiah has a beautiful voice and is the perfect Lucy Grey? I do.
Think I listened to all songs like 50000 times biggest fan here lol
You can tell I like your version of her song for Cornelius by the tears in my eyes.
I don’t care what anyone else says or writes. I choose to believe she made it north and is still living there today. ❤😢
She is my hero.
I’ve had ur version of “nothing u can take” in my head like crazyyyy it awesome and so catchy
Just finished the book right now
I'm listening to this to this to sooth my once-again-traumatized heart😭♥
omg you patting the dress for the compact was everything for me.
It’s here! Thank you for the music Maiah
Thank you for listening!!😭❤❤
I LOVE THIS!! You absolutely have to play Lucy Grey in the movie❤️😍
When I read the book I tried to "sing" the songs in my head, but I couldn't really imagine Lucy Gray's voice... Until I found your videos. You're just perfect! Regards from Costa Rica
Love that! Thanks for finding my channel! Regards from Oregon!
This song is so beautiful, I'm so proud of you. Well done, Maiah. That was really great.
I swear I know everyone else is already saying it but you bring life to Lucy Gray and Ballad of Song Birds and Snakes (Or I call it BOSS) and I can assure you we will riot if U atleast aren't apart of the movie as a side role (Clementina, Lysistraya, Dr Gaul or too name a few) you deserve a big role and as much as I want too be Lucy Gray you totally deserve it! (Plus I don't even live in the continent it's being shot)
You are so sweet thank you!!!! It would be a dream come true to be a part of the film somehow! I definitely feel like in some way I already have been just by making these videos ❤☺
@@MaiahWynne You have totally made the experience of the books better and we all love and thank you so much for it!
Usually I don't write comments on vids but I just had to say. . . .ur voice is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! you totally bring Lucy Grays character to life! I really hope I could see u in the movie, it would be such a disappointment if you weren't in it? By disappointment I mean I would never ever watch the movie and would probably write a 1000 page complaint to Lions gate! Stay awesome and no matter what, u will always be The real Lucy Gray!
@@cousinbull awwh 😄❤❤ you are soo sweet!! Thank you!!
No clarooo
I feel like I’ve commented about the same sentence on every single one of your Lucy Grey videos, but here comes another one along that line:
this was incredible and your interpretations of all songs is beyond t a l e n t e d. ✨ Can’t wait to hear/see what you’re doing next - ABOSAS related or not! I’ve been browsing among your other covers and original music and to no surprised discovered that there’s a lot of great stuff there as well (+ hyped it up to some friends and they all agreed with me 🙃)
I wish you all the best with whatever musical endevours you take on. Long (social) distance hug from Sweden 💙
Thank you! Thank you for the hug! And thank you for sharing my music and checking out my originals too! That makes me so happy!
maiah saying "i made this a waltz because in that moment she's dreaming of dancing with snow and of having a really beautiful, intimate moment with him" ; like the sheer tragedy of that just lives Rent Free In My Head
Oh my God Maiah Wynne, or should I say Lucy Gray!! Oh my.... You are truly a gem to us, Hunger Games and TBOSAS fans🤍💚 you never fail to bring us to the scenes in the book. My eyes are watering on your arrangements. It is truly emotional and heart-wrenching, heart-warming piece. Oh my God I can't stop listening. I'm crying. You really outdone this one, Maiah! I can really envision the movie now. Are you sure Suzanne Collins or Francis Lawrence hadn't still contacted you? Continue sharing your talent to the Hunger Games fandom Maiah! Oh God I love it to bits🤍🤍🤍 you're pure as the driven snow. I really felt the emotion and the love oh my God.... God bless you Maiah and goodluck to your album! My congratulations!
The new film is here and the soundtrack and I wanna cry I WANT YOUR WONDERFUL VERSIONS the official is HIDEOUS
hideous is so dramatic😭😭the soundtrack is beautiful, especially this song
Hideous really? They're both good in their own ways and I think the movie version is just as good as this version
I like Mariah’s version of some of the songs and the movies version of others. Ballad of Lucy gray Maiah’s has my heart. This one goes to the movie and so does the reaping
Why lie
Maiah this song is so good, the music fits so well!
I just discovered you and now I need to read the book again listening to all your covers
Yes!!! Do it! So glad you found me!
i watched BOSS today and i loved it but honestly i still prefer all your musical arrangements and songs !!!!!
i could not imagine how this song would go, but i love it!!
“You asked for a reason, I’ve got three-and-twenty” just always hits different.
