      I had the same issue and followed the video exactly. But I had the game and the launcher open so I closed the game and restarted the game and still nothing. How I got it to work was by restarting the launcher. And i made sure the file name was the same as in the vid.

    For Xbox Game Pass users on PC the file path for the Fallout 76 Application is [(Windows Installed Drive)> Program Files> ModifiableWindowsApps> Fallout76] and it is named "Project76_GamePass".
    Edit: 10/25/2020

    Here we are almost three years later, and this video is still helping people. I'm just getting started with this game, and I was highly irritated by the lack of graphics options. Particularly, I wanted to raise the framerate cap and turn off vsync. You addressed both of these concerns. Thanks very much.

    I'm running a 3090 but I still come to Turtle for advice on settings. Amazingly clear guide and bravo for taking the extra min to point out the GSYNC fix, many others would have either ignored that or told you to check another video...and spent about 20mins talking about how you need to check that other video. That's why we never need timestamps for AngryTurtle vids - always fun, always to the point.

    You've completely changed my gameplay experience ten-fold for the better, after over 300+ hours with painful lag/stutters, within 20 minutes, the GTX1080/144hz monitor are feeling the exceeding frame rate benefit, as well as my eyes, thank you for sharing the way back to 20/20 vision!

    Wow, thank you so much this is a literal game changer i've been playing since launch on my 970 and the game ran so horribly. I played a lot of shooters before this and no matter how many times I messed around with the sensitivity settings I could never get it to feel right, turns out it was that horrible delay that you really feel once its gone. This has fixed so many of my problems with the game, I don't get the constant stutters. Just little things like my pipboy coming up more smoothly now. Seriously can't thank you enough, keep up the good work.

    As someone who IS a network technician/“PC person” as you say, I can’t thank you enough for this simple, easy-to-follow guide. One of the foibles we techies often run into is trying to figure out how to simplify our overly technical explanations of stuff (delving into WHY certain things work certain ways, etc.), so seeing a guide like this, particularly BECAUSE you are not, as you said, a “pc person”, so don’t give too much info, works beautifully. Much easier to use. Thank you.

    Do not use high or ultra textures even if you think your PC can handle it. This is usually what is causing frame drops for most people when they visit certain locations in the game. This is caused by the ridiculously large texture files that the game uses. Not even a GPU with 8 gigs of VRam can handle the textures.
    Nice video btw. Although there is a ton of info about the game's ini files, these are some of the most crucial settings to modify. It is best to modify settings directly from the ini files themselves rather than from the in-game settings menu because the in-game settings menu has very limited options, but it will require a significant amount of time to find the right values for the settings that work best for you. I've been tinkering with my ini files ever since the game was available on beta and I still find myself messing with ini files now and then.
    If anyone is interested, I uploaded modified ini files for maximum performance by setting all performance-impacting settings that I know of to their lowest stable values: www.nexusmods.com/fallout76/mods/359

    We have a pretty similar setup and settings, only for some reason I can't run g-sync without micro-stuttering, what I did was use ulmb instead, adaptive v-sync and cap my FPS at 58, that resolved 95% of my stuttering. I have tried every other combination under the sun (trying to make g-sync behave nicely) with no luck. My monitor is a ROG SWIFT PG279QR
    .
    This game is pretty badly optimized, that Frankenstein of an engine was horrible and yet they decided to stick it to an online game, it boggles my mind, but I guess when your devs are already familiar and you got 90% of the assets ready then it's no longer a choice. Wish I didn't have to go backwards tech wise to enjoy 76.

    If you don't want the atomic shop spam every time you turn the game on, you can put this in the custom file:
    [General]
    bDisableSplash=1
    Also, People with high performance GPU's can experience sticking in place in game with unlimited framerate. This game gets angry when you go over 144fps, or if you have your settings on low, occasionally in buildings you will go over 144fps and the game will lock your character in place.
    Mine was doing this almost every building interior I entered, the fix was to set my maximum framerate in nvidia control panel (in fallout 76) to 144.
    Haven't had an issue since.

  • @SwedudeEPIC
    @SwedudeEPIC 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Here's a tip for people to look up if you have Nvidia experience installed!
    First, make sure you run Fo76.exe as an administrator!
    Open the experience window and go to Fallout 76 (details) > and see if it's running in 4k resolution automatically!
    I had to change it to 1920x1080p resolution manually in those settings and save it in order to get fallout to run in 1080p, it didn't matter if I had 1080p in the ingame settings, Nividia experience would override those settings..
    Also, in the fo76 install folder you got 3 text documents named 'low medium high and ultra', I put them all in a rar file and moved them out of the map so the game would't override any other settings either, then go to documents>my games>Fallout76 and either rar and save or delete the old Fallout76Prefs then start & close the game so it created a fresh one.
    And the game seems to run even better now.
    As my earlier comment said: go to documents and put this into the: Prefs/Fallout76 and Custom.ini to get true fullscreen ingame!
    bFull Screen=1
    bBorderless=0

      if my pc dips to 30 fps you can clearly tell the difference but my ps4 and vs pc running at 60 feels almost the same so how come ?

    I have more interesting problem, i have game freezing while playing. Sometimes fallout loads my cpu to 100% for a few seconds, then drops down. This happends no matter what settings i have. At almost all setting maxed i have near 70 fps during SBQ fight with whole server, and then i can freeze while running in the woods with no players or npcs near me. There is no any
    regularity in freezing, they just happens and sometimes it kills me during fighting.
    I have 4790k and 1070, ssd, temperature is low.. I tried everything i found in internet : changed settings, used custom ini, switched off CPU boost, changed settings in nvidia panel. You could say that problem in old cpu, but there are a lot of videos in youtube with same cpu and they have no freezing.

    • @Gfoke
      @Gfoke 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      mine would make me stuck in place when I entered buildings. it would happen whenever I got over 144fps, then the game wouldn't let me move until I dropped below 144. my fix was to limit framerate to 144 in the nvidia control panel settings for fallout 76.

    For stuttering caused by RAM I recommend *Empty Standby List* that will free up RAM space when using only one command line (no extra programs required). You just need to add new task on Windows Task Scheduler. Standby Memory is a type of random-access memory management on Windows 10 that often causes the computer to slow down (especially 64bit versions).
    *Fallout76Custom.ini* I recommend few more tweaks:
    [General]
    sIntroSequence= # That will disable intro video.
    [ImageSpace]
    bMBEnable=0 # That will disable motion blur. I don't like this kind of graphic effect, but it's up to you.
    bDoRadialBlur=0 # Another blur effect.
    There is a lot of settings, that have impact on game perfomance, but I recommend to change them only if you know what are you doing :) .

    If I can ask, I would have a couple of doubts; I'm not an expert and my english is far from perfect, so sorry if maybe I ask trivial or already said things:
    - at the beginning of the video, when you rightly create a backup, you deleted the present ini files and then recreated them by entering the game and changing the setting... why? Can't you use those files already present?
    - why do you write the lines in a new ini file? Can't you just edit (for example from 1 to 0) the lines already present in the original ini files?
    Thank you

    • @AngryTurtle
      @AngryTurtle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. I just wanted to show how to fix the files if something is not working correctly
      2. It's easier to change settings on the fly if you have separate file with your edits instead of scrolling long list in existing prefs ini
