mbMars01, I have watched loads of your fantastic videos with fascination and a realisation that if I had my working life over again I would have loved to become a goods train driver. I know nothing really about what I'm watching, not a clue as to the terminology etc and yet I love to tune into the latest upload. Your work is truly appreciated, great stuff.
I have not seen many videos that start with an anti-piracy notice...wow, it must a thing I am totally unaware of. Thanks for the many exciting shots of *'horses'* in action.
300+ copyright infringements of my content have brought me to this point... Unfortunately it is necessary to make a clear statement, as it seems some people think they can make money with other people's creative work. That's just not tolerable.
As a non-creator it escaped me as to how prolific these pirate bastards are? Sorry they have found your intellectual property so enticing...it's such wonderful work. As I child, I was enthralled by everything that ran on the rails. Often climbing on the abandoned gondolas that were left, forgotten on some spur...now at sixty, I still dream railroad action like some unrequited love.
Your description sounds quite familiar :) I have never been affiliated with any railroad - not even close, but the fascination has been present at all times. Now that high-quality video equipment is affordable, the combination of railfanning and video production has become a serious hobby.
I too love to watch a train going around a bend, that and going through a bridge or just coming off one. Enjoyed watching your vid, thanks for all your views :-))
MBMARS Thank you so very much for this video. I like the area where you shot this video. I liked watching the trains coming around the corner and disappearing around another. Thanks for the extra shot of the eight engine train that was fun to watch. I would like to share with you I traded in my IPad 12.9 for a new 10.5. The 4K picture is absolutely great it feels like you are actually there. I appreciate your work keep your videos coming. Take care
Seems a lot of power for a short transfer, that first one. It beats me how they can see anything past those radiators running hood end first. Nice colorful variety on the second one!
Great video bud. Always interesting in watching the competition. I hate running long hood with the big GE's. The radiator sections stick out limiting your vision a bit. At least NS sets them up to run that way. Those CP AC44's have some great air ride seats in them. They are really compfy on those long meets in the siding waiting for other trains. Those long locomotive consists maybe great to look at....but are a pain in the ass when you have to do the daily inspections on all of them. And do a good inspection.....not a half assed one either. Those one unit lite engine moves suck. I suppose NS has the speed limited to 30 MPH just like we do. On a interesting note. I see the crew on NS#7509 had the EOT laying in behind the plow on the right side of the engine pilot. We have done this for years. But found out the other day from a FRA official that's against their rules. "The EOT needs to be stored in a proper safe place on the locomotive" as quoted. No harm no foul. He visited the yard and found one of the parked consists like this. As always it's sweet to get those Heritage Units especially when they are leading. We'll be safe out there. CSX#237377
Loved the N and W royal blue paint scheme! How many trains a day pass through the 3-4 main line tracks in Lula? Even though Dalton is closer always angling on other sites to visit!
It's just the main and a siding. Looks more bombastic than it is lol. The other two tracks are just work tracks. Technically, it's just a single-track section of the subdivision. Daily rate is 20-25 trains maybe.
Great stuff! Quick question: Do you know the rhyme or reason to how NS is uprating Dash-9s from 4000 to 4400 HP? I have seen that some are now D9-44CWs... Keep up the great work!
All or almost all Dash 9s for NS were delivered with the option to run them at 4,000 or 4,400hp. Whereas "in the old days" it was common to run lashups with multiple engines with 3,000-4,000hp each, nowadays it is considered more efficient to use fewer but more powerful engines. 4,400 hp has turned out to be the optimal rating.
Hello Mr Mars good morning from alabama I have 3 questions1 Is that blue Norfolk and western blue engine a rare engine to see? 2 How much history does it have? 3 Does it only do special runs?
It's a heritage unite, i.e., it is supposed to remind people of a former railroad that become part of the Norfolk Southern system. Other than the special paint scheme (NS currently has 20 such heritage units), it is an ordinary ES44AC locomotive used in ordinary revenue service (so no special runs).

I perfectly understand your fascination for trains and I'm very happy that you like the videos that much.

Super video, I hardly ever see long hood forward around here
Awesome, glad you like it!

I know, I still can't imagine that Southern and NS used to run LHF trains long distance regularly.
Great catches. Excellent video as usual.
Thanks!

Good question :)

Thanks as usual. I always like to read about these details and your review of what you observe in the videos.
great video
+jerry swarens Thx!
Nice!, I Love Seeing How NS Was Years Ago All The SD60's SD70's And Whatnot. Also KCS 4680 Is A ES44AC Not A AC4400CW
Great video
Cool, thank you!
awsome video but why did the ns autorack train slow at 10:18?
I think he has a low speed limit in the city of Commerce, which he was about to enter.
@mbmars01 What does Hammerhead Style mean?

Great, thanks!
My favorite Heritage Unit to
@mbmars01 Two heritage units in one video? You didn't know those, right?
@mbmars01 What is Lula to Center Branch?
It's a branch line from Lula, GA to a place near Athens, GA, called Center for some reason.
A mbmars you got a norfolk and western es44ac.keep doing yo think.
Yep. I was happy I got good shots of it.

ok thank you sir have a good day
hammer head forward, love it, lol

Long Hood Foward
Poor empty auto rack coming from Toyota still only a single engine. Long hood forward all the way to Atlanta, that’s a crappy ride. Can’t see nothing
He was coming from Atlanta. I guess, crews don't like LHF runs, but for railfans it is a nice catch.
