Wood Turning Firewood

- I recently moved, and there was a big stack of firewood left at the house. I thought it would be cool to take some of the wood, cast it in epoxy resin, and try to woodturn it into something cool. This project took a lot of work, but I like the idea of making something out of wood that someone else thought was only fit to burn.

How far down did you hollow out the middle? Did you make the same wall thickness all the way to the bottom?
Probably about 3/4 of the way deep, and I kept the walls thick because I like the color of the resin better before it gets too thin and transparent.
@@CookWoodworks Thats awesome! Ive steered clear of vases bc they are so hard to hollow. I never thought to leave wood in the bottom. That last 1/3rd to 1/4th is extremely difficult. I bought a hollowing system which helps...A LOT. Gorgeous work.
Thanks very much. Vases are definitely a pain to hollow. I’m thinking of building a steady rest, because man those vibrations are a pain!
