Just now saw your channel and this was exactly what I was looking for 😊. I've got tons of walnut and I am looking forward to making the same thing. Great job on the piece 👌
I would love to see how you made the handles. I'm guessing scroll saw. I did like how you sanded them with the mugs under to give proper contact surfaces.
@@Pipejawood-Woodturning thank you for the info. I am trying to make a coffee mug for my brother and was trying to figure out the best way to attach the handle. I've had my lathe since February 2023, so I'm still pretty new at this. I'm learning a lot through videos, especially those like yours that got close so what you're doing could be seen clearly. Thank you very much. You have a wonderful day and I will be watching for more of your videos.
The cups are just stunningly beautiful. However, I am confused. What did you coat the interior with? and why did you mask off the exterior? Different coating?
Thank you. If is mug use for cold drinks i use Propolitura finish, if is for hot drinks i use for finish in inside Epoxy resin that have certificate food safe
for hot drinks, such as tea and coffee, I usually use epoxy resin coating. If you don't like epoxy, it can be coated with Propolitura, which is completely natural, but Propolitura or any other coating that isn't epoxy is removed over time but you can still drink from mug.
This handle is strong enough because i have this beer mug at home and is like new. If you mean lawsouit because of epoxy resin, this epoxy resin have certificate for food safe

Awesome job on the mugs I think I can make a equal sided heart to cut in half to make a handle like that
Thank you. if you make the same heart on both sides you will definitely get two handles on both sides. I've tried it once myself.

Hello. This is american black walnut. For me is one of my favorite wood type to turn.
What finish did you use on the inside of the mug??
In the inside i used epoxy resin, that have certificate for food safe

O hello. Yes this hook is Gamma Zinken Termite hook 4243. I have buy this hook in my Country Slovenija in this shop www.tobi.si/Termite-4243-insert
@@Pipejawood-Woodturning Does this tool result in a better finish than using a carbide hollowing tool? So less sanding needed? Thanks.
what type of resin did you use
www.samsonkamnik.si/aquares_1500g
What did you pour inside the mug to seal it?
I have used epoxy resin that is certified as food safe. This resin is from Samson Kamnik (Aqares)
Will it wear off over time?
Epoxy Resin when is hard is like plastic so no it will not wear it😊
What is the tool you use for cleaning inside look like a hook thanks for answer❤❤❤ for videos
Thank you for watching. The tool that i use for inside hollowing is hook tool from Gamma Zinken termite 4243

Can mugs like this be used for hot beverages like tea and coffee? That’s what I am looking for

Nice work. Did you use some sort of tumbler for the resin not to clog or get high spots?
No i use paint brush for coating the resin. I also want that resin coat the bottom of the mug that is flat and like glass
Are those handles strong enough to handle hot/cold and weight + inevitable lateral force?
ie. Is there a danger of a future lawsuit🤔
This handle is strong enough because i have this beer mug at home and is like new.

Why start of with such an uncylinder shape on the lathe?
You could have saved a ton of time by just lengthwise cutting off those 4 corners.
