He's much like Magneto or Doom, in that regard.
The only part that could have made the animated part EVEN COOLER was if Black Adam DID say that last "Shazam!", but Apocalypses just raises his hand and absorbs the whole thing right before he stomps on him
I thought this fight would be a lot closer. Didn't expect Apocalypse to literally curb stomp Black Adam. Hell, I expected Black Adam to get splashed with Apocalypse's blood and become his newest host.
In the X men cartoon the xmen had to go back in time and stop him from being born to beat Apocalypse. Black Adam did better than I thought he would lol
At least Apocalypse _had_ a genuine weakness Black Adam could detect and go after. A lot of the curbstomps don’t even have that kindness for the victims involved. Either the stronger opponents HAS no such Achilles Heel to begin with, or it’s so out of reach in the context of a Death Battle as to practically be a non-factor.
I mean.. the 40 seconds of an actual fight.. 15:06 to 15:46... That was amazing TBH. the rest of it was pretty underwhelming. Generic robot pile on, puts on ring, generic high speed clash and then kaiju and the fight is over.
It was really brutal and badass, yes, but I can't help but think Adam should've had more stuff happen to him to kill him, considering that his healing power should be on par with Shazam, who was able to quickly and fully regenerate from being literally turned inside-out. Though I guess he was weakened by the end of the fight... 🤔
the moment it was mentioned that Apocalypse could just give himself any power he wanted, I knew the battle was already won. like yeah, Black Adam is a powerhouse but he has clear defined powers, so against a different powerhouse who can just give himself whatever power he felt like who at base could probably stand toe to toe with him AND has functional immortality? no contest
In hindsight them giving Adam the Yellow Lantern ring appears to be their attempt to level the playing field against Apocalypse’s ability to give himself any power, because power rings are power rings regardless which emotion they channel, and can do whatever the user thinks of(it isn’t really capitalized on much but this effectively means all power ring wielders in DC are reality warpers), so able to give themselves any power vs ability to literally do whatever the user thinks of.
Adam would have won if the fight was held in a jungle. Being played by the rock gives incredible levels of power in any tree filled environment. No way apocalypse can match that

I know we sometimes use “curbstomp” to describe a death battle, but I didn’t think we would see a literal stomp that brutal. Part of me had hopes for Black Adam to win, but I guess I forgot the part of “absorption” which would have definitely helped Apocalypse come out on top with everything else he had. Oh, how the 90s are missed.
Apocalypse is probably my favorite villain because whenever his plans doesn’t go the exact way that he wants it to, he gets all passive aggressive and runs away to pout. Even if he wins he’s like “nooooooooooooo! Storm was supposed to be standing on this side and Archangel was supposed to be standing on THIS side. You know, I put so much effort into my conquests and you guys can’t even-Just forget it. Forget it! Guess I’ll go take a nap or whatever…jerks…”

Omni man vs homelander was another pretty brutal one. And honestly one of my favorite death battles. Usually I like it when the fight is really even but it was kind of nice watching that absolute curb stomp 🤣

One of the great Black Adam moments, in my opinion, is when Billy and the JSA go back in time to ancient Egypt and Adam, still known as Teth Adam/Mighty Adam back then is ecstatic to meet another champion of The Wizard and calls Billy his 'brother' because of this connection. When the group has to go into what amounts to suspended animation and rely on Black Adam to wake them up thousands of years later, after his villain turn, and after he's been Billy's nemesis for some time by now... they're surprised when Black Adam actually DOES revive them. When questioned about this he tells Billy simply "I gave you my word."
I know he lost but let’s give props to black Adam, lying on his back, injured in a middle of a huge crater but used his last moments of mobility to curse his invaders and used his magic lighting to take down the giant apocalypse, sure it didn’t last long but you got to admit he went down like a badass.
Apocalypse didn’t even know that had the fight gone even a moment longer he was going to get turned inside out. There’s not many things in all of fiction that rival the Phoenix force, but a Lantern Ring worn by such an indomitable will as Black Adam would be a contender.
It would have been interesting to have a Dr. Doom vs Black Adam match…if for no other reason than both utilize mystical powers; and they happen to run their own countries.

Ill be honest, im more of a Marvel fan than a Dc fan here and i thought i knew Apocalypse, so i thought he would lose against Black Adam. Oh, how incredibly wrong i was... I knew NOTHING about Apocalypse apparently. Better step up my knowledge game lmao
Yeah people need to understand the difference between an arch-nemesis villain like Black Adam and a team-buster villain like Apocalypse. Apocalypse is built to fight all of Marvel at once, and Black Adam is only meant to fight Captain Marvel/Shazam. Captain Marvel is strong but he struggles against top tiers like Superman and naturally so does Black Adam, while Apocalypse stomps any hero in 1v1, and requires a superhero team up to beat.
Another thing I'm noticing is I already mentioned a scene where I thought he started absorbing the electricity, but he's been absorbing it from the start of the battle, you can see it's being absorbed instead of just dispersed around, it literally goes into him
Welp. That was wholesomely brutal... No seriously now, I had a mild curiosity about why Apocalypse was so strong as a kid, but never had the means to investigate it. Having grown up, I just... never made the time to look into his lore. This was educational, entertaining and eerie! Well done Death Battle!
As a Marvel fan, and an X-Men fan specifically, I was pretty sure Apocalypse was going to win, but I didn’t know that much about Black Adam, so I was ready for a good fight, and I wasn’t disappointed. Very good ending.
Black Adam is somewhat comparable to Superman in terms of basic abilities (if a little bit weaker, but still strong enough to give him trouble) and is the evil / anti-villain counterpart of Captain Marvel / Shazam. He's probably a lot stronger and faster than Apocalypse overall and more durable, so it wouldn't have been surprising if he won this fight. But what Apocalypse has going for him is advanced super-alien tech and a great level of versatility, and ability to drain Black Adam's energies. If Adam knew what he was up against, he could possibly win by throwing him into the Sun or something, but this isn't a fight with knowledge or prep (and if it was, Apocalypse would be entitled to it as well, and he is MUCH better at planning than Adam is).
As soon as the words "Aborbed Cyclops's laser" were uttered, I knew it was over before it began. If the dude can just tank that kind of energy and then turn it around on the attacker, anyone who is energy based in the least is not gonna have a good time...

Apocalypse is one of those characters that seems really weak and powerful at the same time. He'll be on par with Phoenix and then lose to jubilee in the same comic (not really but you know...). His power list is honestly insane and I feel like he only uses like 20% of anything.
It doesn't help that half of Marvel's writers just forget how strong some of the X-men characters are supposed to me, like that time Nate was crippled from fueling a stupid portal from the Dark Avengers. God that was stupid.
Same goes for Adam tho he’s lost to literal children, I mean Superman gets beaten bloody by beefy aliens that Goku would break to pieces. Consistency is nonexistent in comics.
He is kinda insane if you consider he is an enemy of an entire team of superheroes and has never been captured by them or anyone else as far as I know. They stopped his plans by they have never beat him.
I was not expecting this episode to have such a unique victory! The fact that there was not a single math equation in the rundown because they're both so ludicrously powerful that numbers don't even matter, so in the end it just came down to who's powers could counter the other's. It brings me back to the early days of DB. Definitely one for the record books.
Yeah I appreciate that here. You don't need numbers to know just how Strong Thor and wonder woman, they're so well known that their strength and feats are common knowledge. The living lightning has actually been shown to be almost useless against people with greater control over energy, especially electricity. In that DC/Marvel crossover from the 90s Thor straight up caught it and used it to transform Shazam back into Billy, and was able to redirect any subsequent bolt to miss him entirely, effectively taking Billy's powers away.
@@Nezxmi Not really: both DC vs Marvel and Avengers/JLA were referenced later in actual canon stories, at least on the DC end of things. regarding Marvel vs DC, Superman said he needed to find Access once to investigate a claim that Galactus ate Krypton; Kyle Rayner once had Access randomly show up in his apartment; and Blue Beetle all-but-names Spider-Man as inspiration for one of his gadgets, referencing him as someone who dropped by from an alternate universe. meanwhile, JLA/Avengers had an entire story arc in Justice League where they dealt with the aftermath of that story: specifically, the Cosmic Egg formed in the wake of that final battle went to DC for the JLA to take care of, and the Egg later hatched in pages of canon Justice League stories. And, as of Death Metal, everything that ever *was* canon in DC is now explicitly canon, no matter how little sense that makes, how contradictory it is, or how confusing that makes the timelines. So, at least as far as DC is concerned, both of those crossovers are entirely canon, despite the two of them outright contradicting each other in terms of how the two multiverses interact. no idea if Marvel ever did anything similar, mind, but DC at least considers them to be canon.

His lightning being magic does not mean anything. Superman is not vulnerable to magic like he is against kryptonite, its a misconception. Yeah but didn't Boomstick raise his shotgun leg? And couldn't Black Adam just Lantern ring some armor that would make him Invincible to all attacks from apocalypse? The Lantern ring only needs for you to come up with an idea and the rain be charged and you be someone that is capable of wielding said ring and have this ring on while you are living, he should indeed be able to conceive the idea of a button that if you press it, and object if he touches it, a food if he eats it, possibly a syringe if he injects it, and a magic of such power that by using it then he would win the fight, as he would have the power to defeat apocalypse even if he does not know him by name?

This was an awesome fight! I first thought that Black Adam, who had the powers of gods would be able to crush any opponent. But as the fight went on, I could start to see that as strong as Adam is, Apocalypse's powers and technological abilities would end up overwhelming him eventually.
Buddy the technology of the Celestials is capable of beating magic, when Hulk was a horseman of the Apocalypse he stopped the Juggernaut!
Plus the energy absorption; that's kind of a win button against an opponent who leans hard into energy-based and energy-enhanced attacks.
And everyone needs to remember juggernaut is impervious but has lost to hulk too too many times

Couldn't help but remember a line by Apocalypse from the 90s X-Men cartoons that always stuck with me:
"I am the rocks of the eternal shore. Crash against me and be broken!"
And broken he (Black Adam) was!
"I _cannot_ be touched. I cannot be _harmed._ Watch me, and _tremble!_ For I bring the purity of _oblivion_ to your world."
When he told that anti-mutant guy “I am as far beyond mutants as they are beyond you”, I felt that. Apocalypse stayed dropping some of the most fire bars
"BREAK YOURSELVES UPON MY BODY!" -Ozruk (World of Warcraft)
The living lightning has actually been shown to be almost useless against people with greater control over energy, especially electricity. In that DC/Marvel crossover from the 90s Thor straight up caught it and used it to transform Shazam back into Billy, and was able to redirect any subsequent bolt to miss him entirely, effectively taking Billy's powers away.
That wouldn't count any more though. Too much has changed since the crossover days.
@@davidbritton5282 Not to mention the crossovers have always been alternate universes and not Canon Earth Prime/616 characters.
@@josephrasche7194 You’re failing to qualify between canon and 616/Prime characters. The crossovers are “canon” but those are not the original versions, those are completely different characters on a completely different earth that just HAPPEN to look exactly like the original characters. They don’t happen on Earth Prime or Earth-616, the crossover earth is Earth-7642 and they’re not connected to the original characters that we know in anyway.
Apocalypse literally curb stomped Black Adam.
15:53 With how limited the canvas of pixel art is the lip sync here is honestly astounding
In my opinion this has got to be one of the most anti-climatic, yet gruesome deaths we've seen on this channel. I kinda figured Apocalypse was going to win, but nonetheless this was an excellent fight!
Yeah, the instant apocalypse energy absorption came up, it was obvious he was winning. But it was still very entertaining
Pikachu vs Blanka was probably the most anticlimactic ending but this definitely had brutality all over it.
@@mineallmine992003 Well, it was intentional so..
I just realized that Apocalypse would probably be more of a challenge to Darkseid than Thanos was.
Eh not really. Apocalypse has been defeated by Thor solo. Thanos is near equal to Odin without the gauntlet
No Thanos could control time and space when he fought Darkseid apocalypse wouldn't be able to do much about space time vanishing on him
@King of EBLA Thanos was tanking blasts just fine from Odin too. Neither could really hurt the other. Thanos has gotten considerably stronger since then too, even defeating Phoenix Thane, King Thanos, etc. Thor has only beaten Thanosi clones in canon

I love the dialogue for Black Adam here. The animation for the heretic line was so good. reminded me of the line Vegeta gave in his death battle.
I mean, once it got to Apocalypse having access to literally any and every superpower, it's no wonder he's such a renowned supervillain. He definitely lives up to his name.
Well he should do anyway, he's actually quite underplayed in marvel comics

Some characters it makes sense for. Reverse flash can slow down time to learn everything. Kang the conqueror has time travel, he can make it so he has enough time to learn everything. Doctor doom is total BS. The Maker total bs. And so on.
@@BlindCoyoteGod To be fair though I'm pretty sure Doctor Doom is immortal (and can Time Travel) and Thanos is a few thousand years old so they definitely had the time to learn everything that they did and gather all that tech just like Apocalypse did.
@@BlindCoyoteGod Yeah I'd mostly agree. I don't mind if it's a one-time thing, and if it was I'd say it works best on Victor, he just happens to be that much of a resourceful genius. Since Reed is his opponent it kinda checks out. But yeah for the most part it's good to have some more precise vision and focus with a power set.
@@craigyeah1052 yes! For any character in any medium, it’s important to establish a focused concise power set to establish limits especially to the audience. That makes it a bigger deal then if/when you break those limits. (To the shock or anger of the audience depending on how it’s done)
12:56 One of the BEST final description in History of Death Battle
“But Black Adams lightning hurts Superman!!!”
His lightning is magic…..
Yeah Ultraman beat Adam nearly to death.
True
His lightning being magic does not mean anything. Superman is not vulnerable to magic like he is against kryptonite, its a misconception. People are confused, it just means he is not invulnerable to it like he is to things like bullets or extreme heat. It does actually speak to the level of power black adam can generate in the form of electricity.
What I understood of them is that the magic lightning is still energy and Apocalypse can absorbe it and own it, so he now controls that lightning too and is stronger while black Adam 's becoming weaker.
It's not even really all magic, it's enchanted. Meaning magic boosted, but still lightning.
And absorbable by Apocalypses.
