Ko Lipe is the #1 island I wanted to visit on my next trip to Thailand. It looks like it meets the hype. Not exactly cheap but you get what you pay for. That water was dreamy.

I was born in Myanmar but grew up in the US and during my travels across SE Asia, I was always mistaken for a local in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and even Vietnam😂. I found out pretty quick that local prices and foreigners prices were VERY different so I sometimes took advantage of the fact that I get mistaken for a local and got into some places for free or at reduced price😂
We love Koh Lipe and are still not over being stuck in Canada for the winter during early 2021. Last year we witnessed luminescent plankton on sunrise beach. This occurs around full moon and is much like seeing aurora borealis but in the ocean waves on the sand. A memory we will die with. I hope Koh Lipe's Bombay Indian restaurant is still in business, truly the best Indian food you will eat anywhere!

We don't need the total breakdown in every video, but tossing out how much each major expense is, like rooms and main meals is super informative and gives a better understanding of what it costs to live in Thailand. You channel is super interesting and well done.

These vlogs are fantastic. Good to see parts of Thailand buzzing with crowds, even the local tourists give everyone hope of things getting closer to normal. Been to Thailand many times yet never travelled to Koh Lipe, I think you may have just sold it to me. Fish tacos, yes sir!
Honestly I have a love/hate relationship with dual pricing in Thailand. I understand that foreigners generally make more money than locals but the best way I can accept it is the fact that their tax baht goes towards maintaining and preserving these beautiful and majestic places so yeah as a visitor who doesn’t pay tax locally, I’m happy to contribute to the maintenance of these places I visit.

We have a home I built in the south,20 minutes from Pak Bara,so Koh Lipe is our favorite and conveniently close little Paradise.It's really changed over the past ten 10 years,and becoming very westernized(so to speak).Still a great place though.Loved your video!

Time of year impacts weather, crowds, costs of housing, etc. Some natural areas in Thailand are even closed in certain months. Again, thank you for your informative material!

You can only have so many conversations about how Brexit has screwed someone's pension, before you want a new topic. I don't know anything about football, so this is a fun one.
Most Asian countries have duel pricing. One for locals and 1 for tourists. I used to think it was discriminatory against people from other nations to pay more to enter tourist attractions but if you think logically. Most locals in Indonesia. Thailand. Malaysia etc. earn a fraction of what most tourists earn. If you compared the prices that they pay compared to there income in many cases they would be paying the same if not more. And why not pay that extra ourselves who can afford it. To help maintain these natural parks and tourists attractions up to a reasonable standard so that will survive for many years so younger generations of people can enjoy it in the future
@@zoranzec2737 I feel the same way, but then again I am earning Australian dollars and only there for a few weeks a year. I have friends who will ride for half a day to a Waterfall, and if they can't get in for Thai price (with Thai DL), will wait outside for 2 hours whilst the rest go. I would hate to think Thais are denied the opportunity to see a landmark which is probably important to them, or their kids miss out on the theme park, because prices have been set for farang tourists. I earn more in a month than my Thai peer in our BKK office earns in a year.

Love Lipe !! One of our favorite islands in Thailand. We do miss our delicious brunch or late lunch menu at the Elephant Lipe restaurant!!

OMG Lipe is a fine example of how tourism has devastated Thailand. I'm so glad I was there in '94 and am horrified at what it's become.
I was on Lipe 20 years ago. What did they do to this island ?! I could cry.
I think it was more like '91/92 I was there, no walking street then, just shuffling track Lol
