I just came back to say thanks for this video - I'm redoing my basement and got the same paint and sprayer based on this and that thing is awesome. I'm going to use it for a lot of other projects. The paint is perfect. Everything I didn't cover is coated in that dry fall powder but it cleans up easy. Thanks again!
i am actually about to paint our basement exposed ceiling tricorn black but what paint did you use on the walls. I want it to be light but not sure what would look. Any chance you know the paint color of the walls. Our basement is small and dark so mostly artificial lighting.
I am about to do this, but I am confused what to do about insulation above the drywall framing. This basement doesnt look like it has insulation on the outside walls and its just plywood. I am pretty sure outsie walls should have insulation up into the beams where it would be visible. Anyone run into this issue? Any suggestions? Thanks!
The area that you are referring to is the "rim joist." Where the floor joist meets the rim joist there is an offset from the foundation wall. In some applications rigid insulation is used between the rim joist and the exterior wall, which would give you a smooth plywood look. In my home we also spray foamed onto the rim joist and then painted it black because of the offset, and the space between the foundation wall and the rim joist from ground level it is not even visible. Hope this helps.

What type of lights do you use for exposed ceilings?
Amazing! 😊

Does this come as a standard black or do you choose the paint color? If so, what color is this?
Tricorn is technically the "true black" for SW paints, but you could use tinted as well.

@@JoshYager super helpful. Can’t thank you enough. If you told me this at a bar I would buy drinks all night! Thanks again
I love the look, but I’m more interested in sound proofing
why did paint after your drywall? could you have painted the ceiling first
Technically you could do it before, as long as all the conduit and plumbing that was ran additionally for the space was set.
