I do want to clarify that the movie is probably going to be terrible and I don't think she'll be a good director for a star wars movie. I just think people needed the full context of the viral clip.
@@jeffhatch679 The context is that she liked making Pakistani men uncomfortable about the fact that honor killings and gas attacks on women were commonplace.
What about her recent statement where she said EVERYTHING she does contains activism and that she did not study any film making in school, that she was an accidental story teller?
@andrewaltice2086 neither did Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino, Stanley Kubrick, etc. NOT saying she's on their level but just because you didn't go to film school doesnt mean you can't be a good director.
Thanks for this video, showing both sides. Me personally, I am super excited about this film and couldn't care less if she has an agenda or not. Never been upset by this in movies. As long as I am entertained, go for it. Everybody is judging way too soon. Yes, it's a bit weird she is directing a star wars movie without feature film experience, but also... Just wait and see what happens. I am excited and really wish her the best
The problem is that this woman hasn't shown that she has any interest in Star Wars at all. She's not even a feature filmmaker, much less an action/sci-fi filmmaker. She is however an activist, and she has said that there is activism in everything she does. The chances that she will use SW as a vehicle for activism and not deliver a good SW film that understands the material are very high.
For me Star Wars started at Episode I (TPM) and ended at Episode VI (ROTJ). TCW, Mandalorian, Andor, Rogue One, Solo are also part of my universe. That is the good thing about fictional universes. You can chose what is true and what not. GO WOKE GO BROKE.
@@moiseicho4584 It happens between epsiode I-VI so of course it is good. The historic setup between I-VI is good already. Forgot to mention it though. Thanks
Quote from her wikipedia page: "Obaid-Chinoy is stated to direct the next Star Wars film, due for release in 2026, which she has stated will provide a woman-centered and feminist take on the series." If any of you like movies like this, great, good for you. It's just not my cup of tea. To me, SW died in 2015 and this kind of movies are just people visiting its tombstone and peeing on it.
They are going to write a shitty story to pander to the "feminists", insult men and make it look like all men are awful in a movie that's primarily beloved by hundreds of millions (possibly billions) of men and a couple of thousand women across the globe. And when it ultimately fails, they are gonna say the fans are toxic and hate women and it flopped not because they wrote and directed a shitty movie, but because the lead was a female or it was directed by a female director or some other bullshit. I personally lost interest in anything after Episode 6 in chronological order. I still haven't watched the 9th episode.

@@SDfan2002 I agree that switching from the two main stories was a bad decision, especialy when one of the was the love story, but how can you say that the obiwan kamino arc was writen badly. @@moiseicho4584 I hate the Kamino plot because they made Obi-Wan a dumbass who can’t put 2 and 2 together. Also the story is a joke. “Palpatine sends a man, who sends a man, who sends a shapeshifter, who sends a robot, who sends bugs… TO GO KILL PADMÉ.” Again, this movie that came out in 2002 doesn’t even look as good as the movies that came out in 1977, 1980, 1983 or 1999.

Honestly, Star Wars has been dead for ten years now. Shrugs makes no difference now.
I don't think the context means a thing. Do you think she is going to be pro men all of a sudden?

I’m glad you go at topics with a level head.
Be fun for a Star Wars fan to quiz her and find out just how much she really knows about the films and universe. I sense something...

You'll be surprised what George Lucas did with the first star wars movie
Just protest with your wallets

Solo? The movie where they mention Lando making love to a fully metal droid?
Ah ah ah, don't forget andor, that series is the best thing that came out of disney star wars

If Attack of the Clones didn’t end Star Wars, nothing will.
True😂
What? I know the anakin padme stuff was... objectively shit, but everything else is pretty much great star wars.
