    The internet is beautiful! I was lucky enough to attend this event in person but had to leave part way through. Luckily I was able to listen live via TH-cam live on the drive. I am now picking up where I left off. So cool
    Thanks G🌱

    Invaluable knowledge! Gary is the man for putting this up! I'm over here in Northern California watching these videos and applying them to my avocados.

    Hey Gary you should definitely tell Brokaw what’s up with the growing medium they use. Will be interesting to hear their reasoning especially With the amount of experience they have. Any chance you can start propagating Nimlioh to sell to us? I watch every avocado talk you have given many of them multiple times until everything becomes second nature in my thinking. I’ve got the trees growing in Vista, Riverside, and San Jose

    Wonderful tutorial on Avocado for the small time amateur! Thank you for this video. Is there any way you can list the products you mentioned ( fertilizer, pest control, …)?
    Thank you

    I have what I thought was a 12 yrs grafted Gwen tree. it's been ignored for yrs because the fruit rats got everything. Then we had a big Tom cat move in and got rid of all of them. Last yrs the fruit was great but not a big harvest, I found your channel Gary Best gardening and started watering & fertilizing. This yrs we have huge fruit and many. What is weird though it that we seem to have 2 different types of fruit. ON THE SAME limb one is a little more pear shaped with a pointed seed, the other is rounder with a round large seed. I can send pics but I thought this was quite weird. JIM Holiday FL.

    Hello Gary. Good content. Ever do a discussion on Loquat?

      We do topics on items we sell. Unfortunately we currently don't have a good supplier for loquat. Hopefully by next year we will.

    Hey Gary, have you found that adding sand on the surface of the clay gets incorporated into the clay to improve drainage or does it merely sit on the surface?

    Gary,
    I live in Florida and really enjoy your videos and educational, my Avocado is a Luna, had a lot of fruit set but over a short time apart from one avocado the very small fruit fell or disappeared? Your thoughts? Also the bees love my citrus trees, you mentioned about sugar mixed with water, what was the ratio?
    Thank you,
    Joe.

  • @SVmathfarmer

    Gary when you start talking about the Brokaw list you said “They have another version of Hass that we don’t want to get either”. What exactly is this?

    • @GarysBestGardening
      @GarysBestGardening  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That would be the Leavens avocado. Not much information available. It supposedly ripens a bit earlier so it might be an earlier sport of Hass with similar high quality fruit. We would like to try one or two to test but when we order liners they require a much higher minimum.

    What all can be grafted on a avocado tree?

  • @cynforrest
    @cynforrest 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Gary’s Best Gardening - recently bought your last GEM avo tree. Question: Sleeve containing tree is quite tall - do we also plant the “bottom” part of tree that has the “metal ring” around it, or cut that off the root ball? Thank you.

    • @slsly1176
      @slsly1176 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gently plant it whole. Here are the instructions from Brokaw. Keep the protective sleeve covering the graft/ trunk.

    The Caribbean variety grown in Florida is far more superior in taste to the others if picked at the right time.

    What is the most cold tolerant avocado tree? I need a tree that will survive in zone 7.

    • @SVmathfarmer
      @SVmathfarmer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a variety called Aravaipa that supposedly can handle the extremes

      @@SVmathfarmer thank you! Do you know what hardiness zone it can survive in? I looked online and there is very little information on this avocado. It said it’s very heat tolerant but I wonder if it will be cold tolerant.

    • @mwnemo
      @mwnemo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zone 7 is pushing it 😬. All of the cold Hardy Mexican types are pushing it in zone 8b. Plant a tree right next to the south side of your house. Or a pot you can take inside during freezes.

      @@fuwa7860 zone 7 try growing it in a 20-25 gallon for the first 2-3 years , then plant it next to your house ,patio or garsge structure for extra heat from the microclimate . Make sure to bring the tree inside when temperature deeps below 30 degrees in its juvenile stages for the first 2 years .
