5 feet by 16? 5 feet is 1,5 m... is it correct? I'm going to plant avocado in Sicily, (south italy) and I am not sure about the spacing... here the "expert" suggest me no less then 6m , betther 8m... inthis video he say 3m, and you say 1,5m ... 🤔 can someone gime me molre information and some good advice please? Thank you :)

@@juanramirez5817 I would never plant 10X10, I have see this on Hass and that tree will not do well in that spacing, My hass is on 12X15, box rows every 6 at 18". GEM on the other hand is a perfect tree for higher density. If you have not planted any of those try them, they produce like crazy, are naturally small, and grow upright, that is how I get away with a 5X14 spacing, bix rows at 18' every 6th one. I am aggressive on my farming, I have to maximize my returns, grandpa did not leave this ranch to me.

I have planted avocado 10 feet by 12 feet in my 5 acres of farm land and also planted one more plant middle of 4 plants that is 7.5 feet distance. when u have 10 by 12 feet, u get 15 feet diagonally and can plant middle of diagonal distance.
I am adopting UHDP model and later pruning will have to be done regularly

This type is spacing hasn’t been proven to be effective yet. 10 mtr spacing is usually the standard and then you would end up taking every second tree out at about 8 to 10 years which will be the final spacing. From experience this is the best form of planting.

@@liaquattalash3262 it’s not about temperature. I guess the more water the merrier for avocados they like moist feet. We in California don’t waste water because we are in a drought. The idea is to get a sprinkler to shoot straight down not a big circle on starter trees. You can water a long time but if it’s not reaching the tree roots it’s pointless. If possible watering 2 times a week is ideal.

There is many farmers that have big trees but no leafs just tall 30ft trees where there is no foliage at bottom and all the fruit is at the top.
