Veteran campaigners like Bob Beckel, Mark McKinnon and Patti Solis Doyle share their war stories and reveal what really happens inside campaigns. They tell Stossel how campaigns try to micromanage the “message”, telling the story that THEY want told. Campaigns are often won and lost based on “moments” the public remembers.
A Classic Stossel from 2012.
Maybe John Stossel should moderate the presidential debates. Cause he will ask the tough questions to both candidates Trump and Biden.
I said the same thing. Him and Tucker Carlson
@@jeffklaubo3168 you know tucker is bias
@@shake4259 So is Strossel, but I agree that Carlson wouldn't be able to get at Trump like Strossel could.
@@shake4259 And we all know Chris Wallace wasn't, yeah? Come on... bias is unavoidable. I think as long as people are willing to take that into account, let's be fair with the moderator biases.
@@shake4259 he may have his bias, but I've seen him ask tough questions and expect answers from both parties. Thats all I care about.
Clinton couldn't actually cry because her face would dissolve.
Reptilians can't cry.
"I'm melting!"...
Show me a women that can't cry on demand to get there way, and I'll show you a guy.
She only cries for every dollar she didn't steal.
😂
The only real journalists left
And Tucker Carlson.
James O'Keefe
Quirrel Carlson is an opinion-spewing talking head. Give me a break.
@@Quirrel i have conservative point of politic view but even i can see that he is biast..
@@san4os94
I think he is supposed to be biased.
He is an opinion journalist after all
Per Marvin Davis:
That moment when someone says,"I can't believe you would vote for Trump”: I reply “I'm not voting for Trump”. But, I do say the following;
-I'm voting for the First Amendment and freedom of speech.
-I'm voting for the Second Amendment and my right to defend my life and my family.
-I'm voting for the next Supreme Court Justice to protect the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
-I’m voting for the continued growth of my retirement 401K and the stock market.
-I’m voting for a return of our troops from foreign countries and the end to America’s involvement in foreign conflicts.
-I'm voting for the Electoral College & the Republic in which we live.
-I'm voting for the Police to be respected and to ensure Law & Order.
-I’m voting for the continued appointment of Federal Judges who respect the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
-I’m voting for our jobs to remain in America and not be outsourced all over again to China, Mexico and other foreign countries.
-I’m voting for secure borders and legal immigration.
-I'm voting for the Military & the Veterans who fought for this Country who gave the American people their freedoms.
-I'mvoting for the unborn babies that have a right to live.
-I’m voting for continued peace progress in the middle east and in support of Israel.
-I’m voting to fight against human/child trafficking.
-I’m voting for Freedom of Religion.
-I'm voting for the American Flag that is disrespected by the Democratic Party.
-I'm voting for the right to speak my opinion & not be censored.
-I'm voting for my children and my grandchildren to ensure their freedoms and their future.
-I’m not voting for anything that is funded by George Soros.
-I'm not just voting for one person, I'm voting for the future of my Country.
-What are YOU voting for???
This is the realest shit I've ever heard, good man.
Right on✌️✌️✌️✌️❤️🇺🇸
Well said! 👏👏👏
Maybe you ought to consider the Libertarian candidate.
@@vitalsigns2679 I am... I'm Quoting Marvin Davis on that. That's why I put his name at the top. spread it around I think it's terrific.
Even a segment like this from years ago, it’s still relevant today.
Imagine if we paid attention to things like policies and agendas.🤔
Imagine if we were to pay attention to what they have, or have not, done in the past...
Ethos pathos and logos are all just as effective as the other, wether it ought to be that way or not is for discussion, but humans respond to each just a good as the other.
Imagine if it were easy to figure out what their policies and what they stand for are and what they have done in the past.
“You probably liked her too much.”
“No, no, I didn’t actually.”
Soon as I saw that I thought, "this has to be in the top 5 comments." Thank you.
John Stossel is a national treasure.
The media is the problem. There is a lack of honesty and an emphasis on sensationalism. Unfortunately I'm not sure how we can change that.
Cold hard regulation. If you wield that much influence you better be jailed for getting things wrong, manipulation and treason. Would make fake news evaporate over night knowing the CEO would be jailed for smear pieces
It's only because the average American falls for this CRAP!
@@penguinmonk7661 I'm fine with that, but I don't forsee that ever happening.
Well, the repeal of the Schmitt/Mundt Act in 2012 gave the carte blanche.
It's partly the media, but also the people. That sort of content wouldn't succeed unless people wanted to watch it.
"Lets face it Stossel you think everything is corny." Now that was a good moment
Love how John doesn't deny that he thinks everything is corny, lol.
Hello, I worked on local, state, congressional campaigns for 5 years. All of you would know the congressional member I worked for. All of this is very accurate. Stossel is one of the few journalists I trust. This gives great insight to the campaign world. Campaigning is more than this (obviously) yet you can see a good glimpse of how campaigns work.
I can't believe Stossel is 73 years old, His looks and knowledge make me think he is in his 40s, He will look 50 when he hits 100 years old
I love your classic style John. You’re an artist and it’s encouraging to see such art that is timeless still succeed in this trendy world. You’re inspiring.
Man crys: Weak!
Women crys: She's showing her human side!
To be fair, they showed people saying that it will and should negatively affect her. But I get your point. As a dude, we aren’t allowed to express our feelings. The worst is when a woman tells us to “be a man” then men everywhere are accused of “toxic masculinity”. No wonder male Suicide rates are so high
I don't want a negligent human in the white house.
I think it's more limited to Hillary Clinton, she acted tough to prove she was up to being president but needed to show a softer side so people could relate to her as a warm human being.
I still think to this day that line from Donald Trump " yeah because you'll be in jail " was what won it for him
@Vincent Cuttolo Admit it, it did.
Definitely a ‘moment’ at least, I do think that definitely was an important point. It told the American people that trump would he wasn’t scared to be a little... unconventional in terms of getting what he wants.
I think to was "Make American Great Again".
Same. I totally agree.
@Vincent Cuttolo I disagree. I am not a Trump fan... He was my last choice and I wasn't even sure I could vote for him. But many of us voted for him as a vote against Hillary. That line reminded people that Trump was the only chance to beat her and he was willing to say what we were all thinking.
Just had a long talk with a local politician running for office here in Wheaton Illinois. It was very fruitful one-on-one and she took the time to talk to me. I have a good understanding where she stands now and it makes all the difference. Keep doing it John Stossel we love you.
I love your videos because your videos are those like none other. Nothing is similar to this. Amazing content. Thank you man.
Love that King of the Hill episode where Hank realizes that Bush has a weak handshake.
Brilliant Stossel. Brilliant!
I've never seen Hillary Clinton being authentic.
She made Made In China Stuff look like the real deal
Stossel, to me, is one of the real bona fide journalist out there

That's true about this man, I even learn from him in Canada, god bless him and our naibour countrymen and women,
@@faizrizahi7280 Canadian Rebel news got some great content too
When he was on 20/20, he had a segment called "Give me a break". It was common sense reporting of the world around us. I always looked forward to watching this.
Note that, when Bush embraced Ashley, he wasn't sniffing her hair...
Howard Dean was awesome! High energy! 😁 I love when Dave Chapelle did that skit about him. Legend.
You are like one of very few reporters who still tells the story as it is with no bull$#!÷ thank You
Ahyeeeeaaaa! Chappelle's imitation of that yell is priceless.
Finally! A video longer than 10 minutes. Thank you Stossel
John, your videos as of late have been really good.
It's refreshing to get an actual informed balanced view of both sides, with receipts!
Finally getting notifications for this channel. Thanks TH-cam.
Thanks John! Love your commentary!! The thing that makes me laugh is how local politics effect our loves more than who the president is.
I'm Mirza Ahmed, and I approve of all of John Stossel's messages.
FANTASTIC video! Great info on behind the scenes of how advertising campaigns work. I really enjoy the ~10minute videos you do, has a bit more meat than the shorter clips. Thanks John!
“You probably liked her to much”
“I Actually didn’t” 😂
Great segment @John Stossel , as always. I’m nearly 40 and even growing up as a kid, Berlin Wall Challenger era, your investigations always got me interested in reality vs how we’re told it is. A counter to corruption. It seems work like yours has become the exception, the opposite is celebrated financially, but God loves truth and I suspect not only I but He is also glad you’re doing so. Very interesting and important and timely look into history, thank you!!
I'm Mike Bennett...and I approve this Stossel video!
11:24 - looking back - TRUMP IS EVERYWHERE
I like this from Stossel's About Me section on his website: "My epiphany, after years of reporting, was seeing that business does much less harm than big government. Competition keeps business in check much better than government regulators do.
We don’t need “experts” to manage our lives. We do need limited government, a referee that keeps the peace. That’s all. Then free minds and free markets make good things happen."
Wicked stash bruh. They need to call that the stossel. Trump 2020!!! Don't care who you vote for just do it in person don't use the mail.
I call the mustache the "middle school science teacher"
Dude, I told my wife that a few weeks ago about his mustache... The Stossel!
@William Kievit if you trust the mail then put 100 bucks in an envelope and mail it to yourself. My vote will be in person at my local polling place not willing to allow a middle man when the stakes are so high. You do you though.
Man I love Stossel
Emotion always beats facts.
Watching this video with caption on and boy, the message at 6:18 is HUGE.
Mr Stossel would you please moderate a debate? Listening to how you push and ask tough questions to just about every one gives me hope of the generations of the future.
Great job !
"you probably liked her too much"
"No thats not.. I didn't actually" hahahaha
This is why it's extra important to bring your own camera to all events to show what the campaing doesn't
"You probably liked her too much." LMAO 🤣🤣🤣 My guy Johnny snapped right there!
I remember liking Howard Dean back in the day. It was actually the media’s portrayal of him that I (thankfully) really started to be critical of the media
I don't have as much respect for voters who vote based on emotion as much a voters who base their vote on facts and the logic of defending the US Constitution. I reject all attempts to weakening the US Constitution. The purpose of the US Consitution is to maintain political power with the private sector (We The People). "Domestic Enemies" weaken it through regulation, taxation, and social policy that create dependents on the government. These actions transfer power away from us and over to the government. Through deregulation, tax cuts, border security, prison reform, addressing unfair world trade, restructuring the VA, the appointment of judges who do not legislate from the bench, and exposing the two-teared double standard of justice by the FBI, DOJ, CIA, and mainstream media, President Trump has demonstrated the greatest defense and strengthening of our Constitution in our lifetime.
Probably one of Trump's greatest strengths is he is willing to talk. He was willing to talk with the Taliban. He was willing to talk with North Korea. Even with the partisan bickering, he is willing to talk with Democrats. We almost went into a hot war with North Korea because the Obama Administration wouldn't talk. I wonder what a Biden Presidency will be like when he won't talk with Republicans and hope they get voted out in the next election?
Raise the voting age to 38
@@addlemm44 or limit it back to land owners again, just as the Founding Fathers intended.
@@ephidel285 There are hardly any land owners in the nation though. If you pay rent, aka property taxes, you don't own your land.
Stossel,
Thanks for this interesting video.
Love all your stuff!
I am very old, and I remember Gary Hart's campaign. He said that he wanted to make America a great country for ALL Americans, not just the richest Americans. He had my support right then and there.
Living in a late cycle national swing state I can count on one hand the number of presidential adds I have seen this year. I don't know if one of the campaigns has forgotten about us or not but when even the local party HQ can not get signs to display for there national candidate such choices do not go unnoticed on the local level.
This just brings back memories of Ron Paul’s 2008 and 2012 runs. He changes my life. He was the one libertarian that knew how to teach liberty. The libertarian party sucks right now
Si, great content as always!
I feel so bad for Howard Dean every time I hear that infamous scream.
Always great 👍👍
John stossel for moderator!!!! 2024
"I didn't, actually" This dude SAVAGE. LOL @9:40
The only ads I got, during this segment about political ads, were political ads.
It was kind of weird to get a negative campaign ad while watching this.
It's even more extreme in other countries. Look up "Ed Miliband Bacon Sandwich Photograph." The guy basically lost his seat cause someone took a picture of him eating a sandwich.
Big fan!🙏🏻
Stossel and this dude sparring subconsciously is kind of wild to watch.
This was really cool and well made.
Don't let others decide for you what matters for you, you decide what matters for you.
I wish Stossel would run for president. I don't think he'd actually have a chance though because his views aren't that popular amongst the establishment. A real free market, privatizing horribly ran government programs. It's something we actually need but I doubt anyone like him will ever be elected =/
He's very likeable though. But you're right that this game is all about feeding pockets and I truly believe he'd never sell his soul.
I'm pretty sure joey from friends taught Hillary to cry on camera
This video is your very best one.
I'm a subscriber I approve this message. I can't stand politicians and all the lies. Small government is what we need.
A beautiful 😍 speech of love and respect to All races! Thank you Minister Farrakhan!
All Trump has to do is throw a Carpe Donktum meme on TV.
John Stossel +-+ You sir are awesome. Thank you for your news telling service. Long time fan here. Also do you have a twin brother that lived in Oklahoma? Anyways keep up the great work. Peace
Good video and research John! I personally hope President Trump, gets re-elected
This is BigMo...and I approve this Stossel video...
Stossel 2024!
If I could vote all politicians out of office, like in Among Us, I would do it.
I feel like you look for any video to mention Among Us
life like bideo game
Great video!
LMFAO I forgot about the Howard Dean " YYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAA"
8:57 this is just the best haha!
I'm not American and I approve of this message.
A man tearing up is weak. A woman doing it is powerful!
The media blew that scream out of proportion. Nothing more American than a good scream!!!!!!
I miss Bob Beckel, I almost never agreed with him but he was sincere and dynamic. RIP
Feelings over substance. 🤦♀️
@Necro Mancer Yes!! 👏
It's a real Behind the scenes.
What a great vid!
Hillary Clinton “showing humanity” has to be funniest and most out there I have heard in a long while.
I have learnt a lot Today -
Lol! "You probably liked her too much" "no, I didn't really"
I love that shot of Trump's plane towards the end.
Life has changed since the radio died.
Good to know
Things have changed so much since this video was made.
Wasn’t Bob Beckel the guy who in 2016 said that this presidential race is over for Donald Trump, that Trump has nowhere to go and should drop out of the race?
Movement over moment
in this case.
He knew it would become a Talking Point...
Beckle was nearly as drunk and arrogant as Jennifer Granholm was on election night. I took the next day off... I hurt from laughing!
This is why I vote as an INDEPENDANT on POLICY.
That image at 11:24 is hilarious in hindsight 😆
Milktoast Mitt? That is all I remember.
President Herbert Hoover remarked that he had hoped that the people would be swayed by a leader making sound decisions with the efficient use of Government but was dismayed when he learned that people were more inclined to respond to dramatics.
I have an idea for representative government that I've pondered for a while. What if, no-one ever voted for someone they didn't personally know? Perhaps 10 houses in a neighborhood vote for who will represent them on the street. Those groups vote for a street captain...who vote for a few neighborhood captains, who vote for city wide captains who vote for county wide, state wide, nationwide. Something like this would completely end most of political theater, because it would no longer be productive. It would also end most lobbying, because that also would no longer be productive. Is there still room for corruption and imperfection? Yes, but I think a lot less. Something like this was actually the original idea behind both the electoral college, as well as the original idea of how the Senate was elected, and even today, is essentially the way the Supreme Court is chosen.
