Classic Stossel: Campus Censorship

  • Students today are kept away from words and ideas they may find disturbing.
"The Silencing” author, Kirsten Powers, says colleges are “ground zero” in the fight for free speech, but George Mason Professor Jeremy Mayer says complaints about censorship are right wing paranoia.

    ----
Powers also argues that leftists have gone from opposing censorship to supporting it. They even attack their own for stepping outside left-wing orthodoxy; people who say the wrong thing lose jobs.
    A Stossel Classic from 2015.

I love the 80's and 90's.... but it's 2021 now and journalism as became a swearword for political activists. With schools... yeah I've seen them gone bonkers in my time. It all began with the labels. Dyslexia, discalculi etc. etc. that were just put on coz schools didn't know what to do with the hordes of unemployable psychology students they pumped out each year. Then these labels became a status symbol coz hey, the more labels I gather, the more privileges I have on exam compared to the rest. Then we entered the phase of psychological bullying from the psychologists by trying to stuff all those 'self-reflection models' into every fucking course you could think off; which of course was the only class that was actually mandatory coz they couldn't get students to show up voluntarily for this absolute bullcrap. And that same mechanism they expanded on and now turned to all the CRT/ID/diversity bs from DiAngelo (of course it had to be some white caucasian feminist Karen😒... nobody surprised)
Honestly, uni's and colleges today should be avoided like the plague, you only get indoctrination. Learn a skill for a secure future. Uni's and colleges is where your brain as well as your personality goes to die coz teachers and schoolboards don't want to teach you, they want to indoctrinate you and make you an activist.

Sadly and that's where some of this becomes an issue too. These kids will find ways to exploit the policies in the handbooks at the many employers. I already deal with some of these kids who get yelled at for slacking off by an older coworker, whose been in the workforce longer than these kids have been alive, and immediately they run to HR and issue grievances. The coworker gets sent to the office and gets talked too, maybe written up but not always, and then in 2 weeks the kids quits the job because it's too hard. Yea I am totally not speaking from experience/s. What makes me so upset is that I am a nontraditional college student and many universities are spreading this idea that manufacturing jobs are for losers, that driving a garbage truck is for high school dropouts, and that being a plumber or electrician is dead end career when in fact these are all jobs that still exist in the United States and are in fact in high demand thanks to an aging and retiring workforce leaving many positions vacant. That and many degrees that exist now reinforce far-left political ideology and teach that in curriculum.

I would sincerely like to interview the parents of each and everyone of these idiot students. One question to be asked: are you proud of you son/daughter? Another: aren’t you glad you worked hard to feed, clothe and shelter them? Look at your result!

Safe space is the space you can defend from attacks. Generally want high ground, limited access, and after a choke point to limit number of attackers attacking at an one moment.
