Love it very nice!!! Im actually looking for one of those I found one in North Carolina couple months ago No rust ran & drove fine but the owner wanted alot more then I thought I was disappointed.
It just happened that a new employee at my job has this Mazda pickup. He saw my 82 Datsun and knew I was the one for his truck. He needed to sell it. I was able to make payments to $2000. I only paid that because the truck is very solid. It has 138k and rides like a new truck. It needs a little TLC to make it great. Good luck with your search.
@@junkyyarddawg Thats awsome! It looks really nice. The one I looked at was only cause I was traveling to a truck show and we saw it in a yard on a back road for sale. They wanted 7,000$....... i was like YIKES!!! it was nice probably same condition as urs body and paint wise
@@junkyyarddawg I'm telling ya! I offered $3,000 right then he said no way in hell.. so on to the next one. I've had lots 86-93 Mazda trucks & tons of Ranger 83-2003
@@frankm8533 Way to much. Granted these are nice little tricks and all of that, however he was looking to make a profit and thought you are a sucker to pay that much for it. Sad, however, you were wose to walk away from him and serch for something much more within your budget. I'm not saying to rip the owner off getting something for nothing, , just he should have been much more reasonable in his price, that's all. For 7 grand then he can keep it.
That is not a sundowner edition. The 1982 to 85 Sundowners came standard with a long bed with 10 tie downs, wall to wall carpet amongst some other things. I know the 77 to 81 models came with that same long bed with 10 tie downs, wall to wall carpet, a 5 speed manual, foe wood above the door cards, and spoke style hub caps. Than the top package was the sundowner sport, which came standard with bucket seats, a center console with a clock and outback desert themed graphics on the outside of the truck as well as everything else being standard equipment as well.
Ill buck the trend and tell you to get rid of that cold hearted stinky Weber hack conversion. The Nikki/Hitachi carb starts on the first pump every time and youll have all the fittings to run a proper sized air cleaner, PCV, EGR and Evap (none affect performance but the guy stuck behind you will thank you!). I got an 83 also, purrs like a kitten with a NOS Nikki. Good luck!
@@junkyyarddawg The Ford Curriers and the Mazda trucks are EXACTLY the same trucks as Mazda built these trucks, the Ford Curriers are then badged Ford Currier. Gas prices are getting really expensive these days. I would be a much smarter move if these car msnufactires go back to manufacturing smaller sedan cars with four cylinder engines in them and small regular cab truck with 4 cylinder engines in them to. There is a demand for them, and scrap the ugly cookie cutter SUV's and the four door station wagon trucks with wagon wheels and thin tires on them.
@@junkyyarddawg Or, as they say, give it a KISS which means, Keep It Simple Stupid. These older small trucks were easy to work on, fuel efficient, tires were normal looking instead of this silly, ugly wagon wheel and thin tire craze going on these days, everything then was so simple, and not complicated.
Loved the design of these older Ford Courrier/Mazda trucks. Wish they are still being built today.
Very cool truck and a well made video! Just bought an 83 myself a couple of hours ago.
That's awesome man! Congratulations. I'll be doing an engine swap soon. We lost compression or maybe a blown head gasket.

It's a Mazda 2.0 liter. I'm not sure what came in the Ford, maybe the 2.3 liter, which is different.

I agree with you. I'd like something simple to work on that lasts as long as these old trucks do, but new.

That would hurt the government plan for electric cars
