- Sailing on Jolie Brise in Cornwall at the St Mawes Pilot Cutter review May 2018.
We sailed from Fowey to St Mawes on the south coast of Cornwall followed by more racing around the buoys in Falmouth Harbour, one of the most beautiful in the UK, and a great setting for these magnificent traditional boats.
Seeing this video really brought back memories of sailing to Spain on the Rioja wine run to Bilbao with cases of wine filling up the saloon. Wine had its own JB label with all profits going to JB maintenance fund! I will never forget the thrill of clockng up 11 knots in rhe Bay of Biscay!!
It is so nice to see Jolie Brise sailing. My absolute favorite boat of all time!
Good to see her sailing. The hydraulics company I worked for contributed some equipment for her auxiliaries some years ago. Fair winds Jolie Brise.
Sailed on this boat for many years from Lisbon. She is an amazing ship.
WOW! I sail here in Boston Harbor... nothing like the feeling of when she rises to a lifting breeze! I ache for the season to begin again!
Big enough to go anywhere, small enough to be intimate with everything going on. A true beauty.
Spent a lot of time working on and sailing this beautiful ship. White sails in my day though. No surprise that she's still winning races as she's built for speed. Still remember my first Captain, Mike van Loeuwen (apologies for the spelling) and his sister Lily the bos'n, my first crush as a teenage schoolboy!
Hier kan ik de hele dag naar kijken ❤😊.
What a splendid little ship!
A real gem love the sail colors
Hats off to the cool and calm skipper 👍
Wow beautiful ship, thanks for sharing
Two thumbs up from about 6,000 NM to the West. Lovely!
What a beautiful ship! I'm glad for you people! =)
Watching this video, i think it would be amazing to go sailing
Great video. Thank you!
I remember JB from days of Exeter Maritime Museum and the annual wine cruise to Northern Spain. I did get out on her one day :)
In my opinion the Pilot Cutter is the most elegant, traditional and beautiful design!!
I want to build one a bit bigger from aluminum, using modern sails, mast and equipment...
Beautiful boats!
wonderful video. really allows to get a first impression of how she handles. impressive cutter ... ;-) !!
I remember her in Lisbon, maybe for over 20 years, glad she is now in good hands
Yes I think I read that she was in the employment of the Portuguese postal service maybe getting that slightly wrong
Great stuff. Those light days are very testing. Hi from NZ.
Восхитительная часть культуры. Не понял ни слова, но смотрел затаив дыхание.
Обожаю куттера!
What an improvement a complete date on the intro would make.
Need some more Gin in the compass!!!!
What’s a minimum crew to man this boat
What sort of ballast was used and where was it distributed?
You start to see why a number of the old salts did their job while suffering with hernias. Beautiful days of wooden ships and iron men. Following seas, Enjoy
Is there any interior ?????
To much varnish not enough tallow makes a mainsail hard to lift up
Trés belle coque , Superbe Toutes voiles dehors ...
Remarkable, the skipper of a training vessel, working on deck, without a live vest.
Well, there's always something to complain about... 🤓 how satisfying!
Less drag on the rudder let the sails do their work!
)
Too many sails.........................
