I started playing mandolin 1977 BI ( before internet) dream of the archer, sylvan song by Heart, and bluegrass tunes from a record of Michael Melford ( I dont think he is alive ) Mandolin fantasy. You Tube lessons like yours has been revolutionary for musicians.

It really IS a delay though. You can clearly hear that it is. The low notes are not plucked twice. One of notes is from an echo-unit that is set to be equally loud as the mandolin. I suppose a Binson Echore, since that was used troughout the Album and the Echorecs Repeat-time fits the song-tempo. that makes it also much less complicated to play. But anyway, if you want to play it on your own you have to adapr oviously, so thanks for offering an arrangement that works without delay.

absolutely this… and it’s great to have someone put in the hard work to make it easier. Jimmy played the mando through to delay, i’ve recently read.

There's definitely a delay. In addition to Andy Johns (who made the recording) saying so, if you listen to the "Mandolin / Guitar Mix from Headley Grange" on the boxed set (or youtube) you can clearly hear the delay in the verse (at about 50 seconds).
But I think the low notes were played twice. First, it fits the picking pattern that he's using. But also, if you listen right at 25 seconds (on the CD) you can hear that the two notes aren't identical. The 2nd is choked as he lifts his finger (probably in anticipation of moving back down the neck).
This is the shape at 25 seconds:
      0
      3
      7
      9
      Which goes to:
      0
      3
      2
      x

You do an excellent job of teaching, if you’re looking for song suggestions Good riddance by green day would be a great one to learn in mandolin.
