A tip to creating better-matched 3D objects into your footage is to recreate the exact materials and objects surrounding the object, then set them all to shadow catchers. That what you get much more accurate bounced lighting, and the won't appear in your final footage, just the light they reflect onto the object. I do that for all floors/ground, walls, anything that I think would be relevant enough in bounced lighting
4:33 i am just getting a pink background, what did i miss? EDIT: no clue what i did, but its fixed! for others with this issue, try looking at the file location that blender is getting your footage from. i just clicked it and it fixed itself.
Omg Im so glad I use maya. With 2 clicks I have shadow and with aistdsurface on my mesh it already have that realistic look without all those nodes what i have to add.. Autodesk I love you
And then you get a cop at the door asking why you parked a star fighter at your apartment complex car park to make a movie! and he gives you a ticket!!! Thanks for the tutorial.
I know this is an old tutorial, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask here. Everything went smoothly, and I even managed to render an image of my scene, with background included. However for some reason I can't render the full animation. It just outputs an image, even when I select the output to be AVI-JPEG or AVI-RAW. Any help would mean the world to me.
When I click on "detect features" and then the forwards button. I only get the trackers for the first 100frames and when I try continuing from there, the trackers get lost and are different, help!
Does anyone know why tracking the selected markers doesn't work completely? This doesnt go to the last frame, it get half way and stops. Why does this happen and how can I solve it? Does it make sense that i have to do this again from half of video? Thanks for the tutorial!
3 weeks late perhaps, but that means Blender is losing those tracking points at the time, maybe the points are occluded by something or the contrast drops or there’s too much noise in the footage. You can try add more tracking points a that point or you can try to manually align the tracking points for a few frames where it stops and try resuming the tracking.
Can you help me out please? After rendering my animation doesn’t have a shadow even though there is a light and on blender there is a shadow and I have the shadow catcher on. I do not have an HDRI could that be a problem?
When I render the animation it doesn’t include the video in the background. Although I did skip all the lighting stuff because I don’t need it, so is there a way around it or do I just have to suck it up.
Im not a beginner however this tutorial is really well explained and it cant be much simpler than this. I really hope you’re able to follow along as VFX is arguably the most fun part of blender

I dont even really think i am going to use it but it is so enjoyable to watch
Complete Blender newb and I found this tutorial fun and relatively easy to follow. I would have watched it just for the humour though. More please.
Not sure if you guys work in Cinema 4D but a beginner’s tutorial for that would be amazing!
Please make more tutorials like this because it was amazing!

Hey man, the footage/ movie scene at 10 mins into the video, how was it done? I want to learn to work with real life characters
I love this guy😁
maybe i did something wrong but in the render it doesnt show the image(my irl video) there but in view port camera it does :(
Nice content 👍
This is a good tracking tutorial.
nice video, much info! thanks !
would this still look good in After Effect using Element 3D?
The filter track sollution made the solve error vorse, so I did it manualy and got .1, I think I'm ebtter than Blender
The best would be if you use After Effects camera tracking.
This is so complex! Would it be easier just to hire you?
Where is the base footage file? My camera is really low quality.

Look hard and make sure the footage is in cycles and you have the part selected
