Oh good, I almost closed the video right there thinking "Why would he make a comparison and not use the 9900k 51M? Is this some kind of rigged MSI comparison?".
Luckily I checked comments. Now I can watch this video not thinking it will soil my braincells.

After i downloaded all the windows updates and alienware software updates it has not had any problems. The 17 inch screen is much better than my old 15 inch, see way more in games. The tobii eye tracking is interesting but there are not many games that use it. Hope you find the right laptop. gotta say this one has had no problems.

Just a note to Titan owners.
MAKE SURE TO ALLOW BIOS UPDATES!!!!!!
OK sorry about that. Anyway, the early bios in it limited the GPU to 150 (something around that) watts and you had to change it manually.
Apparently, not a lot of folks knew that (I didn't until I checked out the bios as a curiosity) but the later Bios files set the 200-watt TDP as default. Supposedly had something to do with Optimus.
OK now rerun your favorite benchmarks if you never made the switch to the 200-watt option and didn't allow bios updates. Huge improvement.
EDIT - Later bios files set the TDP to 200 watts and the option was removed from the bios.

The Area 51m is like a UFO when adding some sweet RGBs. The machine does intense gaming with ease than the other machines. Plus even though the fire strike test which the 51m falls down a bit, but putting games into this beast means it can deliver with juicy high FPS, and still it's like some sort of Desktop inside a powerful machine. But although to be fair, the specs of the 51m which is the CPU is a little less powerful than the MSI i9-9900HK but still awesome video but I'm not too sure if I really want to buy a machine that is extremely powerful.

The thing I’m most concerned with because I’m looking at buying one of these is thermals which are not mentioned here at all.
I’ve been searching and the few videoed I can find the Msi is running a little cooler 3-7degrees depending.
Also while upgradeable Nvidia hasn’t used the same architecture once in all there revisions so good luck upgrading the gpu and Intel will be going to a different chip socket soon as well.
Difficult descion at this point especially with Msi g75 raider and Asus Zephyrus both of those are cheaper and still great performance

Excellent review on 2 awesome extreme desktop replacement notebooks. MSI GT76 Titan DT-039 is the notebook for me over the Alienware Area 51M due to offering a 4k UHD screen. MSI GT76 Titan DT-039 can be maxed out at 128 GB DDR4 @ 2666 MHz vs. Alienware Area 51M's 64GB DDR4 @ 2400 MHz max memory. Also the MSI GT76 Titan has 3 PCIe 3.0 NVME M.2 slots versus Alienware Area 51M only having 2 PCIe 3.0 NVME M.2 slots . MSI GT76 Titan DT-039 is also much easier to disassemble then the Alienware Area 51M (which is a nightmare to disassemble) for component upgrades or replacements. I own both notebooks & my MSI GT76 Titan DT-039 is more responsive (slightly faster gaming despite lack of Nvidia G sync) and has the better 4k UHD screen for movies/videos. Both are great notebooks though!

@@Juan1985g poor quality control is not the same as sub-par design or hardware. I admit, I most likely got a really good unit. I had not a single issue other than some light bleed. The problem is the very core ideology of AW and Dell is drastically incompatible. I'm sure the AW division designed everything top notch including awesome hardware. But big daddy Dell in control of profits nixed everything they could to increase profits. Including American customer service (unless you pay for it). That indian support is useless. Or unless you spend big money with a corporate account. Then you get American support. They also cut costs on assembly, sourcing, quality control, etc. So yes, there are bad units. But when the stars align, this thing is a beast. As much money as they charge, I would RMA until I got the perfect unit. Once you get it, nothing beats it. Unfortunately I don't have mine anymore. I've had my Area 51m now for almost 2 years, still going strong, no issues playing modern titles. Not the greatest for enjoying Ray Traced content in games, but still manages in some titles. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the limited bios controls, and the proprietary dell/alienware software. I feel if I had a little more control over my hardware settings it would be perfect.
I just wish there were more competition in this class of laptops. There aren't a lot of options out there unfortunately. I think as chip manufacturers hit the 3nm and 2nm processes they may be able to refine the TDP of newer chips, hopefully. A desktop replacement? Pretty close, but thermals is the main issue. Some titles like COD require me to undervolt and reduce clock speeds, otherwise it overheats. If it had like 20 to 25% more cooling capacity, perhaps more fans, it would be better. I've been tempted to try liquid metal TIM, but I don't think it would help much in this scenario.
Hopefully by the time NVIDIA's 4000 series is out, there will be some more competition for desktop grade laptops. For me being a long haul trucker, this is my only reasonable option for a gaming pc in the truck. Even Mini ITX can be too cumbersome, and all the wires running everywhere in this cramped space would be a pain. At least the laptop can easily be ported around when needed, such as when I'm home, or if I have a breakdown and end up in a hotel for a bit.
Alienware's UFO looks interesting, but I'm still waiting on if it will actually make it to market or not.. Cool concept, would be great for on the road, no table required. Could just whip it out when I'm parked or layed over for some more casual games. I'm curious what sort of hardware they could pack into it. Would be awesome for all my JRPGs and Side Scrolling games in my library.

Alienware Area-51m is slaying it in almost every aspect, except for the cooling. I'd give the cooling solution to MSI. But overall, Area-51m is killing it especially its gorgeous design, which draws worlds apart from the design of the GT76. Not only the most powerful gaming laptop, but also the most good-looking laptop today!

I think it's a bullsh*t,Area 51m uses a socket, therefore bound by its associated LGA so if LGA changes for the 10th gen. you can't do any updates, without counting that you have to go to see up there are blocks on the power supply in the bios, which could already give problems by mounting a 9900KS. At the end of the games, even if you could change components, you are bound by the total power supplied by the power supplies, therefore not more than 510W (330 + 180).There are many but I already know that Alienware will justify itself with one of its crap.
