And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you praise God; anointed...utterly stunning. I went up to the mountain today and her voice, singing this, was in my mind and on my heart throughout. May God bless you Jennifer, always.
Oh my.. I cannot get enough of Jennifer Phillips, she is amazing. I love the music she performs. I am in no way religious but...wow...blows me away every time I hear Jennifer sing.
That woman has been touched by god vocally and otherwise. She is SO damn soulful it's coming out of her pores...!!! As a gifted singer myself. I know she took EVERYONE to church the night she sang that song. No doubt about it.
I think singing the gospel to those who listen is your calling and you’ve got to know that too Jennifer when you sing this song it moves people’s heart you’d have to be dead not to feel that , hope your reading these comments after all this time we still love you
Wow!! I was skeptical at first and I was sobbing by the end! What a magnificent performance! She brought the house down! I bet the Lord heard her! She praised Jesus and it was incredible!
Haha! Over sung is right. Rolling all over notes off pitch. Patty Griffin who wrote the song really does the best version although a young woman named Brandie Love did a decent job on X Factor USA 2013. th-cam.com/video/giLU76dl3yY/w-d-xo.html
the only thing that comes to my mind listening to Brandie Love's version is "soulless". In Jennifer phillips version i feel the pain, and i dont think she over sung the song.ok maybe a bit but its absolutely tolerable. i like passion, i like chills and only that kind of singing gives me goosebumps. :) but we are not the same.. :)
Johnson Mark. it wasnt terrible. I couldn't do half of what she does. but this song is definitely a song that doesn't need much. She has a great voice. and its powerful enough without the extra runs. Thats all im saying. 😊
this is really a good song and she sings it ok,,,,,,,,, but she made a pretty song top muddied up with way too much vocalizing that really detracted from the song and turned it into a screaming match. When you have a good voice, you need to know when not to over do it or all people hear is one loud scream and you loose them. This song should have been sung with love and tenderness like it was written without all the screaming !!!!!!!! and what is up with the clown pink lip stick????
This is an emotional song. It's supposed to be sung with control and vulnerability. This is just some broad roaring at the top of her voice. Anyone who's a decent singer can do that. The mark of talent is being able to make a song tell your story. And I've rarely seen anyone on X Factor with that ability.
It's really too bad that whatever time constraints imposed on the singers forced the editing of this song. They way it was sung completely took away the REASON for the song, which is a tribute to Martin Luther King, and imo, reduced the power this song has. Some of her runs are entirely appropriate for gospel but this was too much. She does have a powerful voice.
you know after listening to the original and so many other versions of this song... I really don't care for this rendition. she's doing too much FOR ME. I like this song simple. she did way too much.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you praise God; anointed...utterly stunning. I went up to the mountain today and her voice, singing this, was in my mind and on my heart throughout. May God bless you Jennifer, always.
One of the best renditions I have ever heard. It's shocking she didn't make the live shows.

I never tire of hearing Ms. Phillips sing this. The Lord was singing right through her that evening. Praise Him.
This lady's voice is anointed, may the Lord God Almighty guide and keep His hands upon her.
Jennifer, you're a star!
If she had been picked, Simon would have an act in the final, an even a winner, she amazing, hope we see her on stage again soon😀
Still waiting to see someone else get the standing ovation magnitude that Jennifer Phillips received before and after each performance.

Why do these talent contest show versions always trick up great songs with unnecessary vocal gymnastics?
i was just thinking that. she completely over sung that song. lol

sandra williams I respect your opinion but i dont have any problem with the extra runs though.. :) Have a nice day dear.. :)
That lipstick tho. 😮😵💫
2:45 divinity entered the room.
She needed to hit a high note (and/or maybe a falsetto). She didn't but it's so obvious she could.
She put stank on that shit!!!
Such a beautiful woman with this great voice, how can they let her go on stage with them clown lips.

I’m sorry did she just say 49???? 😦 i mean i know we dont crack but this is just....

Less would have been more here.
Hot mess
you know after listening to the original and so many other versions of this song... I really don't care for this rendition. she's doing too much FOR ME. I like this song simple. she did way too much.
Oversinging is unnecessary and she kept screaming throughout the song with a terrible breath control, Xfactor has the worst talents of any show
yes. praise she singing with the lord and the judges already know it
In that moment it was just her and God. U can hear at 2:45 when God enters the room. Simply amazing
