I call samesies, but I used grass ground. Also, bring a hand mortar for when you get bunched up infected. It's also good against tentacles because you can damage them without a direct hit, great for those "trick shots"
Great tip to hoe the ground! The spawn rates of the infected cavelings is crazy so neutralizing that is super useful! Also, the cavelings drop blowpipes so if your ranged weapon does break, you'll more than likely pick up one or two in the dungeon.
I would've never guessed using the hoe lol. I cleared all the stuff on the ground but was wondering how, if possible, to stop them from spawning behind me and ganking me. Thanks for the great tips!!
One VERY important hint that everyone playing Core Keeper should know, is to always carry a repair table and scrap on them, to repair broken tools, weapons and armor. Preferably, keep those on your hot bar, so you don't lose them if you die.
@@chrisevil7012 its actually in game and is enough for repair everything , you only need scarlet bar is you want "upgrade" a scralet tool for example , but can repair it with only scrap.
Alright, I've cleared two of these mold dungeons now. Here's a couple more tips: For melee, use the larva spike club. It has a 50% chance to cause knockback and it's _insanely_ helpful (literally saved my life when I was swarmed by those gardeners and trapped in their snare plant). You can also bring a bunch of spike traps with you. The mold dungeons are full of narrow corridors and if you just aggro a few infected, they'll slowly walk over the spikes and then you can smack them right back into the spikes with your club. To break the walls, you can just bring a generator and a drill. Once you've cleared out an area, set the drill up and it'll break through a wall block in several seconds. Also, if you upgrade to the scarlet hoe, it will till a 3x3 area so it'll go much faster. Oh and don't forget to reinforce everything at the repair bench. Took me way too long to realize I could reinforce my equipment. I gotta say though, these dungeons are a whole lot of effort for nothing. Aside from the blowpipe, there's not really any worthwhile loot (unless you want the statues and mold columns for decoration). The sickle has a pretty high drop rate from Ivy, so I think I'm just gonna try to find that boss instead.
I decided to buy the game and as I thought, I am in love. It is soooo good. Trying not to spoil it too much by watching all your videos yet but I felt like watching this one just for a little sneak peak of what I have ahead of me. Once I catch up I may comment a bit more but loving your content on this game. I hope more people get into it. I am now trying to tell all my friends to buy it :D
Ability to dodge is *huuuge* help in those dungeons since it can be spammed to counter movement debaff. Before you have mold cancel definitely bring the feather
I also found that the drill can dig through mold walls (as can the post azeos critical melee hit), so if youre carrying a drill setup, you can sneak in for chests if you need to - (im fairly sure the drill hasnt been patched to no longer do that)
I don't have an issue clearing the dungeon mobs with a scarlet sword and the no mold set. You can hit them once, then run back to dodge their attack, and then hold the attack button to kill them before they get a chance to attack again. The tentacles can be tricky if there are 2 of them; you'll need a ranged weapon for this. The swift feather helps a lot if you don't have the mold set as you're going to be placing torches everywhere anyway. The tentacles will give you the most trouble, but they glow in the dark so you can see them ahead of time.
I just got the ring and necklace from the first enemies and didn't even care about the debuff until then. -70% speed isn't that bad if you're a ranged player. You kill enemies before they approach you.
Without the mold jewelry, you can bring a shovel and a bunch of wood bridges and just make yourself a path. If you don't want to deal with mob spawns stabbing you in the back, you can dig out any blocks next to your path and they won't be able to reach you. It's still a slow, methodical way to clear one of these dungeons, but maybe faster than hoeing every single tile. As a bonus, you'll get enough mold ground to make mob spawners and farms.
Loool I didn't know hoeing them prevents spawning. Before I got the mold accessories I actually dig up each room fully and building a pathway with wooden bridges.
Never had an issue with these biomes because I found a bomb scarab mortar before beating Azeos. The joys of RNG loot drops. Now I'm way up north carving out the shimmering frontier with only one titan soul to my name. I might just be going a little out of order...
I have 2 points to add. The first is that I like bringing wood bridges so I can dig out the ground and replace small areas with the bridge so I can shake off the movement debuff. The other thing is that i had azeos's lightning go off and it destroyed the mold walls. It is wierd to think that you can randomly break the walls with crits.
the walls aren't actually immune to damage, they are specifically resistant to pickaxe dmg, drills, azeos lightbean, bombs, and maybe if there was a way to lure ghorm to the wilderness perhaps he would DEMOLISH it all
i was just building bridges over the water in the dungeons.. and brought some walls with me to block off a path so they wouldn't follow me if they did respawn
I've shoveled ground behind me every so often, used range weapon to clear reasons on my way back and drip a bridge to cross back over. Saves a lot of time compared to hiring the ground non stop . Plus it's free range weapon skill increase
You can still break them, but it's hard process. The Azeos soul beam will cut through mold, but you need to melee crit a mob for the chance to summon the beam. But it will cut a whole path out of anything it touches. Pretty neat.
I found out yesterday, You can still break through mold walls, if you bring a drill and a generator with you. Takes some time but drills will still break them. I got Curious while setting up drills on a scarlet node near a mold biome. Tried it and it works.
Tip for doing it without the ring and necklace set, dont bother hoeing. Take up the floor and put bridges down everywhere. In big rooms, only bridge areas you need to walk on then leave 1 tile of moat to corner off areas of mould you dont want to pick up, mobs will spawn on the mold but wont be able to reach you. Mixing bridges and moats in big rooms give you plenty of space to move and fight, no movement speed debuff and a safety gap where mobs still spawning, cant reach you. Only once you have the ring and necklace set would I recommend hoeing all the ground as you dont have to worry about debuff to speed.
so what are the chances for the shamans staff to drop? i wouldn't mind getting it for collection in the first place and it seems like it would be better then the musket, also is scarlet armor "required" or can you do it in iron?
you can definitely do it in iron armor. hoeing the ground stops enemies from spawning but will not stop the slow debuff. if you're worried about that, I recommend digging sections of the ground out and replacing them with wooden bridges to create a 'safe area' in between your hoed ground. watch out for the tentacle enemies, getting hit by those is basically a death sentence. I like to use the feather in the dungeon for quick escapes, and use the remedaisy necklace instead of the mold vein. slow and steady is the name of the game.
I killed many shamans without getting a fire staff then got 3 in 10 minutes. Looks like the drop rate is under 2% so go find as many shamans as you can 🤣
There is pretty much 0 reaspn as to exploring these dungeons, sure the poisonous sickle is good, but you can farm it from the ivy boss, it's much easier and takes way less time to clear each dungeon Btw my dungeon clearing method is to bring a poison immune necklace in my inv, then equip the 2 set mold speed debuff remover and a sky ring, if I were to get poisoned n low on hp, I fall back equip n unequipp the poison immune necklace then drink potions, I tend to bring around 200 hp potions, using range to deal with the tentacles and melee to kill the infected, you can just group them up, swing then back off then swing then rinse n repeat till they all die which saves time.
