Therefore killing the "HEAT" so it won't cook animals. I have both ink bird, ve 200 and Herpstat 2. They all work well. That #1 thermostat would go good with a pictus gecko setup.

I'm getting a crestie for a bioactive vivarium and I want to heat it to around 70-75F. It's usually around 65F during the winter and I feel like that's too cold. I'm having trouble finding info on adding such a small amount of heat. If anyone could give oint me somewhere, I would appreciate it very much
The BEST solution would be to safely add a heat emitter (or an incandescent bulb) to the top of the enclosure along with a thermostat. The crestie will self-regulate their temps.
@@SupremeGecko I'm looking into heat emitters atm. I'm also considering just strapping a mat to the side during the winter, with a thermostat. Im just finding it hard to accept paying the cost of a dimming stat and deep heat projector for only around 5 degrees of temperature difference. Plus, money's tight lol. Tysm for the response. Your channel is a stupendous source of gecko knowledge, like, massive
@@LukeMcGuireoides Thank you so much for the kind words. I know the decision is tough. My suggestion would be to order a heat mat (or even flexwatt tape- message me on FB if you want to know more about this), and a 25 thermostat like the one I showed in my review video.
I keep a Columbian Boa (BCI) and a Royal (Ball) Python. I have a heat mat for the one I have in a pvc Enclosure and a heat panel for the Boa that I keep in a wooden Enclosure. To tell u the truth I like the panel way better because I can control the temperature way easier and more precisely to the Temps I want. The reason I got a heat mat is because I was told it's way easier as far as humidity staying up with a mat, because a panel dries it up. But I have found out now that the humidity stay about the same percentage in both Enclosures. The reason I bought one of these thermostats is because I have a reptile basic V-300 which I love and a BN link which I hate because I constantly have to check it with a temp gun and adjust it like everyday. And because I don't just have $150 bucks to purchase another V-300, so I came across the Pymeter Smart Controller and it seemed to have awesome reviews and for a great price

Question: Which of these thermostats will fail off? In other words, if the device fails, will my heat mat stay ON or OFF? If my cheap imported Chinese thermostat fails, will it fry my snake like bacon? If my heat mat stays on full blast, my ball python isn't smart enough to move elsewhere. He will get severe burns.

Most of my Animals I also provide a heat basking bulb so my animals get a temperature boost during the day and then a drop to just the heat mat temperature at night. I have been using these for about five years. I do use the Ink Bird Hydrometer for control of the humidity for several of my animals so I definitely think that Ink Bird makes a great product as well.
Great info. Thanks. And how do you control the humidity with the Ink Bird? Thanks
@@SupremeGecko there is a hydrometer version that has a humidity probe rather then the temperature probe. It’s similarly priced to the thermostat version.

Thermostats are always a heated discussion. As long as heat can be provided safely, the cheapest would work. I'm a bells and whistles guy to a point and love to have the heating set up for a day night cycle. Nice Vids. I just happen to come across your channel and have now sunned. Thanks for your work!

Also I plan to swap the other 2 to halogens too.

I have the #1 choice on a quarantine rack, and it has worked flawlessly. Only thing I wish was that if it ever failed, it failed in the off position. Therefore killing the "HEAT" so it won't cook animals. I have both ink bird, ve 200 and Herpstat 2. They all work well. That #1 thermostat would go good with a pictus gecko setup.
I really appreciate great feedback like this. How many (potentially) animals could it be heating at one time. I've recently purchased a heat monitor that will alert me by phone that I will be trying out very soon. :) Yes it would go good with a picta setup :)

A few years ago I bought two inkbirds because they were cheap and easy to work with. HUGE MISTAKE. My snake enclosures are in my bedroom and the model I had was LOUD. Constant electrical buzzing sound. It drove me nuts
Did you get an older version? Ours are silent.
@SupremeGecko Yep. Older cheaper version with less features, even by the standards of a few years ago. (Didn't notice sound till I moved house and the snakes were in my room instead of the living room) Good to hear that they fixed the noise in the newer models though.

@@SupremeGecko sweet. I'll certainly take that under advisement :)
I bet you have a bad BN link. Thanks for your message, great info!

Thank you for the question Xxxxx. I have not had enough experience with this. My suggestions would be to ask the manufacturers directly. Sorry I cannot help more.
