I used to get mad whenever the school tried to pressure me into grabbing a milk at lunch because I was never going to drink it because I was lactose intolerant and if I was going to use up my small dairy level, it was going to be for something more special than plain old milk. Besides, my mom would would fill me up a bottle of juice or water for me to take to school to drink at lunch. They gave me a bunch of you don't have a doctor's note nonsense. Now that I'm older, I realize something even more ridiculous than people trying to force me to grab a milk I wasn't going to drink. The milk came with school lunches, if you wanted water, you had to pay money outside of the lunch. Which is ridiculous since all the kids were being taught water was the healthiest drinking option.

I think it’s good in some scenarios. I had a friend who got hospitalised for anorexia, and the immediate treatment she received was a small cup of milk every few hours. It gradually progressed to eating proper meals but it did wonders for her recovery
he is right that majority of people have some form of lactose intolerance. However just like a small amount of people have really strong lactose intolerance, a small amount of people genuinely have zero lactose issues.
Just a quick note: “-ase” just indicates that the protein is an enzyme which catalyzes a reaction with its namesake compound, proteins that cut others are known as proteases
They still have a lot of development to do that most animals do while still in the womb. Why? Because we have big heads and small pelvises, and birthing underdeveloped (relative to other animals) young was the compromise.

I appreciate the evidence-based approach and the encouragement to make informed decisions about nutrition. Your dedication to uncovering the truth behind common food myths is commendable. Keep up the great work!
Something that doesn't come up often in these theories, that I would like to see more of, is cost. In this one, alternatives are given to milk for calcium and vitamin D. Is it cheaper to get the supplements or the milk? I suppose one big theory episode on whether we should all just be consuming supplements and Matrix mush (everything the body needs) or keep eating food would be better. Is it possible to just live off of supplements and what would that do to a person? Is it more cost effective, are there any health risks, has any food theory videos been made about this topic? (Fairly new to the channels, still working my way through them)
I'm the US vitamin D supplements are cheap. Milk has vitamin D added from supplements, anyway. Might as well skip all the gross things and natural sugar and calories in milk.
That is something that I have been wondering for years and would be really interested in. There are times where I don't feel like eating. Eating is such a chore and do it because I obviously have to to survive. If I could just jug some pills that would be cool.
@@MilwaukeeWoman Well, those extra calories are an added bonus. You can find the natural milk with fewer/no additives as well. So it may be more worth while to get the milk which has more than just one nutrient. I'm also not sure of what it takes to process supplements so that may be a factor as well. With milk, it's a matter of raising the cows, getting the milk, and a bit of processing for sterilization, separating cream, packaging, and I'm sure something else I'm not aware of. I would guess it's easier just to get milk.
Hey Matpat, remember the episode of Jimmy Neutron where he invented the best candy in the world and everyone got really addicted to it? Is it possible, and if yes, how would "the most addictive candy" look like and what would be in it?
Well actually yes, lots of sugar has to be in it because if you look it up sugar is one of the most addictive thing on earth. now are you saying everyone gets addicted to the candy after one bite? If so than you’d need to have a lot and I mean A LOT of sugar to make someone addicted now if we want to expand the ingredients list than we could add in some actual drugs like coke.
EXACTLY AND cheese. I understand his point but there are moreimportant factor like more chance to break bone i understand that but cheese ice cream chocolate milk i think bones are less imporntant than my cake or cheese pizza or MY CHOCOLATE MILKKK
Also how else am I going to eat my cereal, dry?! Also I love spicy spicy foods and drinking milk with my meal helps with any potential heartburn when it's bedtime.
I'm from Eastern Europe and I've never seen a single milk ad lol. I drink milk because it's tasty. It also is the best way to cool your mouth after eating spicy food.
MatPat: due to evolution, most people with higher lactase are genetically mutated Me: *develops lactose intolerance in my 20s* just as nature intended!
Im 22 and became pretty lactose intolerant this year, and I keep making the mistake of eating a lot of cheese since it composed of like, 40% of my diet before I stopped making lactase. I suffer :((
Yo Matpat, I was diagnosed with a dairy allergy when I was a wee little lad. This basically meant I couldn't have any sort of dairy products. Also, don't get mixed up, dairy allergy and lactose intolerance are NOT the same things. I just wanted to mention that LOL
Is there a way you could list the sources you use in the description? I love to learn about culinary science but reading from primary sources is a bit more trustworthy
Actually, proteins ending with -ase (enzymes) does not only "slice" molecules, but some proteins can also "glue" molecules together (a class of enzymes called ligases).
@@youssef1770 IDK Im not a biologist. But basically most enzymes named something followed by ase usually break down that something. For example Proteins are broken down by Protease. Lipids, fats broken down by Lipase I think. Ligases if I understand them basically connect or join stuff, they don't fall in this formula because well idts LIG is a thing.
I love this video and all of his channels, but one pet peeve, enzymes don't only break down protein, different types of enzymes break down or make polymers, or chains of individual molecules (lactase is two sugar molecules making it a sugar polymer) But it is still an amazing video! Good job!
Theory Idea: Why are salt and pepper our go-to "spices"? They're always on the table at every restaurant and pretty much every recipe I've made calls for them. Why are they considered so general-purpose?
If I'm not mistaken, thats actually because a King or something similar just really loved Salt and Pepper and always wanted them and it turned into a staple thats on every table. I'm likely wrong but I did hear that somewhere long ago.
Salty is one of the main tastes our brain chases alongside savory and sweet, which is why umami is so often chased when cooking. It creates the strongest response and can even be addicting, which is unfortunate because the food presented to us that offers the most of these tastes arent exactly great for us.... Also salt was historically very popular in ancient societies even being on par with things like gold and other precious materials when it comes to value. Since alot of ancient societies lived around fresh water rivers rather than salt water bodies, or just hadnt discovered salt extraction from saline water, it had to be mined and being incredibly useful in many important parts of society, from flavoring and preserving food, to being used in construction, salt became highly desired and thus highly priced. Of course in the case of places like Japan, salt, while popular, was more common since they had discovered salt farming using water from the sea and thus was less valuable. With the advances in food preservation, overtime salt would become less valuable and with the advent of refrigeration lost pretty much all value since we could simply get things like meat really cold instead of dehydrating them into rock hard chunks of Salty, edible meat chunks.
@@mattjm82 it definitely helps with Texas style barbecue, you also might need something like 16 mesh freshly ground pepper, you'll get more flavor that way.
Not sure this is really a "Stop Drinking Milk" video, more of a "Milk isn't as overhyped-healthy as it's presented in advertisements, because of course it isn't nothing is, but if you still like the taste of that good good moo juice go ahead and enjoy it" video. But I guess that title might be too long for TH-cam.
@Tobes I drink two big glasses of milk everyday and if anything I could actually stand to gain a few pounds. Which admittedly means I'm in the vast minority of Americans. But still
I've always wondered who was the first guy who looked at a cow's udders and said, "I want to try some." I am lactose intolerant, but I still enjoy ice cream and I can eat cereal. Sometimes I do pay the price later, but not always. In moderation, I can consume dairy without any problems. One thing I heard that disturbs me is that when a cow gives birth, the calf is taken away from the mother in order for her to keep producing milk longer, for our benefit.
Yeah. When you think about how milk is made, it's weird. Stealing a woman's baby and then forcefully squeezing her nipples to get milk out is not normal.
And they make the cows pregnant over and over again... because that's how mammals produce milk, for their young. This is why dairy cows generally have short lives, because being constantly pregnant takes a toll on the body. Their young are destined to have the same lives they did, or to be fattened up and slaughtered for eating. 25% of global land use, land-use change and forestry emissions are driven by beef production, including conversion of forests in the Brazilian Amazon. The system is absolutely horrifying and because of that, I also stopped eating dairy after first stopping eating meat. Because the dairy and meat (beef) industries support each other and effectively even if you stop eating beef you are still supporting eating meat if you consume dairy. Unless you fricking own that cow and milk it yourself, maybe.
My secondary school teacher told us (in Sweden) that all babies were fed milk as a staple back in the days (wayyy back). So the children who were lactose intolerant didn’t feel well and no one could figure out why. So they just kept shoving milk down their throats until they died. And with that, all lactose tolerant babies survived and here we are, drinking a liter per person per day (not really but I have seen my dad go through a 2L carton in 3 days which is pretty insane)
I remember in Kindergarden a kid with severe lactose intolerance would drink milk because he didn't want to be left out, and we would know any day he drank cause during reading time after lunch he would fart up a storm, and his farts were NOT subtle. Christian, if you're reading this. I'm 27 now and that is still ingrained in my head as a core memory.
I really feel sorry for Christian right now. Poor kid didn't want to be left out and didn't even realize that there might be better options out there. Christian, don't be ashamed of being lactose intolerant. Embrace it and try alternatives.
You know how people say " Tequila drunk" or "Vodka drunk" or "insert type of alcohol here" drunk? And could you do a theory on that? Ex: Vodka makes you more angry.
@@Javii1 Different sugar alcohols would affect you differently. Vodka would make me slow down and relax but tequila made me hyper and aggressive. Vodka being made of potato sugars and tequila being made from special cactus sugar. I had to stay away from tequila because I almost killed a guy in a fight, But in the end, I just quit drinking completely.
One of the things I try and teach people is this: We are a generation who has been advertised to, from birth itself. Do not underestimate how badly that has messed us all up, just so an industry can profit more.
I never really believed in the milk makes you stronger/taller thing. My main reason to drink milk is that it tastes great with cereal and baked goods, and I'm going to get as much dairy in me as I can before my body stops producing lactase. My brother and mom are both lactose intolerant (not that it stops them, they take lactase supplements to avoid the side effects) and knowing my luck I'll probably wind up being lactose intolerant too. So I'm gonna eat as much dairy as I can before it becomes necessary to take a supplement if I want a cheese sandwich.
Yeah I don't want to get intolerant to dairy products nowhere soon My… friend is the same age as me (23) already intolerant and it's not good. I'll keep drinking it and enjoying my dairies
It’s hilariously ironic considering 90% of them came from Ann reardon, who only disagreed with about 2 sentences in this video. And they’re acting as if this entire video is wrong, so they’re basically calling Ann dumb and telling her to do her research.
The video itself is fine, milk won’t give you super bones and teeth, the problem is with clickbait thumbnails, coming into this video with the idea that milk is very bad and you should stop drinking it because of the thumbnail is misleading when the conclusion of the video is “you don’t need to drink milk”
I look at his videos the way I look at all informational videos on here. A good place to start. He can only do so much research for each video. Otherwise he could only do one or two videos a year. Just this video, do you know how much information he would have to sift through to do a well balanced video? Even a one sided video. He makes them fun and possibly makes you want to look more into whatever he is talking about.
I actually went backwards, I couldn't take milk when I was younger, but it stopped being a problem around my teens, and I still drink it regularly now in my 40s with no notable drawbacks.
@@MilwaukeeWoman stop spreading misinformation. There’s a difference between something not being as beneficial a choice and something that literally hurts you. A glass of milk ≠ harm (granted you’re not lactose intolerant or your body just hates dairy)
The question is not is one good and one bad, the question is, which one is worse. If you're hangry for a coke anyway, should you go for the sugar free or sugarful version?
Honestly I’ve always known milk wasn’t the healthiest and I still drink it because it tastes amazing and is at least better than drinking soda all the time
depending on your age i'd say you should try to stay away from milk. Sure it's probably better than soda but water or especially green tea is so much healthier
Funnily enough, as someone who struggles with chronic anemia, I've been told by doctors not to take dairy with meats and other iron/protein rich foods because it could mess with my iron absorption. If I want to eat a dessert I usually have to wait 2 to 3 hours after dinner.
Wow, looking at your profile showed me that you uploaded vidos...with no connection to each other. And a playlist the same way. You are the most random person ever, kinda like a bot would look like. Wow.
As Malaysians, Milk isn't really a "supposed essential food" but mostly just for making your diet fancy and extra fatty. Yeah, we got the staples like Nasi Lemak and Rendang(which uses coconut milk, not of mammalian source, just joked as such) even those are clearly not nutritionally balanced. Even things like drinking goat milk or almond milk is a relatively recent fad.
Remember that some people said that the Jews drinks Goat Milk which follows the Sunnah so you should too! Also, do you remember those small flavored bottle milk from the Malaysia Veterinar Organisation maybe twice selling in schools also 1M Kotak Susu program? At least they teach us to drink flavored milk.
Cow dairy is relatively uncommon in most of Asia and some of Africa, but humans really developed the genes to continue to digest lactose especially in cold climates, because cattle survived better than the alternative nutrition sources. So that's why dairy is historically more common in typically colder regions' cuisine, primarily northern Europe.
One ancillary benefit I've found for milk, is that it helps reduce heartburn flareups. Not to the same extent as something like Rolaids, but if I have a heartburn going, gulping down some milk does soothe it.
I remember how one coworker humorously expressed his lactose intolerance to us: "I can't drink milk. If I drink milk, everyone in this room will be bolting for the exit."
LOL! I've been telling people a variation of that line for yrs now, as so many of them *still* can't wrap their heads around the idea that ANYBODY might or could go "cold turkey" by ditching all dairy products, even milk. Other Dude: Seriously, how can you *not* drink milk?? Me: Because if I do drink milk, everyone in the room is going to regret it.
That’s why I stopped actually, did not happen all the time just sometimes. I don’t think i’m intolerant as i could drink until 18 or so, but I don’t like it anymore
Check out a debunking here from Anne Reardon, a food scientist th-cam.com/video/LIu9oOBoy8s/w-d-xo.html No reason not to drink milk and while it's a valid personal choice, it is dangerous not to drink it or a fortified milk alternative for your later years excepting conditions such as dairy allergies or lactose/caslein intolerance. Also he doesn't mention that milk has micronutrients that are super good for you, and whey protein that body builders need to bulk up.
How convenient that MatPat releases a video about how when your older your bones are easier to break because of how tall you are, literally as I'm having a bowl of cereal. Congrats Mat! You have boosted my anxiety by 30% 🙃🥴
That' can be easily offset by going to the gym with a rich nutrition, bones become thicker the more you put them into the same kind of pressure lifting at the gym does
The conclusions drawn in this episode seem pretty in line with what a meta study about the positive and negative effects of milk. That is both positive and negative effects were too mixed to draw any definitive conclusions about whether or not milk is a good or bad thing to consume.
Studies are rarely impartial. They're expensive. People tend to buy science which only supports their bias, position, expectation - and tend to not buy science which contradicts their interests. The result is endless half-untrue information, endless advertising, endless mockery of the science and the scientists.
Well it also depends on the source and how it's processed Cultured butter good is more antioxidant, but non-cultured(most western butters) are more deleterious because of the fatty chains (afaik from various things I've read) Same goes for other dairy products, but good luck researching the production methods of most manufacturers lol
It really depends on the person. Although, I think most people in the US, at least, are somewhat dehydrated, so it would probably be a good idea for a video..
Basically yeah. Lots of food are pretty healthy if eaten in the right amounts. Drinking too much water could actually be deadly like how not drinking enough water is. It's a balance that we've to find and when we find it, we get a healthy body.
When I was younger I disliked the taste of milk and often avoided it. So my mom decided to switch over to oat milk, and I was able to stomach it. Ever since, my entire family has been drinking oat milk for many years and we have gotten so used to it that when we smell or taste actual milk ( like from a cow) we dislike it to the point we sometimes gag or even make a sour face.
The smell of milk literally always smells off to me, like it’s turned. Oat milk is so good I’m trying to convince certain family members to make the switch
@@DragonbIaze052 convergent in the sense that different populations of humans around the world evolved to a tolerance of lactose with no interactions between those populations
Gotta be honest, this series really opened my eyes on the food industry. I guess these thoughts have kinda always been a blurry place in my mind but never really thought about. Like back when my mom stopped buying milk because of hormones or when I didn’t want to get a certain thing at lunch but was forced to. I mean, I’ve been taught my entire life one thing so it blows my mind when someone reveals the truth and it makes sense.
Yea same here, I have a lot of respect for MatPat for educating me over the years while making it entertaining. It’s crazy how wrong some things we’re taught growing up are
you should read In Defense of Food! It was super interesting and exposed the problems with the “Western diet,” aka what we’re taught we need to eat in America.
Most of the things we believe (myself included) are entirely due to hearing it from others. I have relatively few opinions that I've actively researched and/or tested myself, and in the cases where I've studied things in depth, the truth is often fuzzier and more nuanced than is comfortable. This is why, when encountering people with "wrong" opinions, the priority should be finding out WHY they have those opinions instead of just pushing your own. Often, people have done their own research and have made judgements based on their own circumstances. I still have a very hard time with this, but it's made me a more knowledgeable (and nicer) person.
7:30 It's not just about starving to death, but drinking safe fluids, George Washington only drank a low grade beer instead of water, as it was clean and wouldn't make you sick, drinking clean fresh water is a fairly modern invention.
Yes as an archeologist I was thinking the same, milk was much safer to drink than regular water in the past, the other option was alcoholic beverages and the milk doesn't have the effect of making you, you know.. tipsy or drunk. Also there are different varieties of yogurts with natural bacteria that are fermenting in it, one example is Lactobacillus bulgaricus which is natural pro biotic and extremely healthy for digestion, there are other types in different regions in the world that have different benefits. Also in few thousands of years human bodies may become even better adjusted and adapted to extract more nutrients from milk products if humans continue consuming them.
The point Mat brings up about bones being more brittle is not really relevant. He said that the reason they are more brittle is because the person grows taller. However, he just said that it only makes you taller about 1cm which is basically no difference. So the point is basically irrelevant!
Just wait, there's gonna be an angry cow with a baseball bat outside your window soon, and when you reach for that milk, it'll break your knees in lol. (But yeah go for it, just don't drink more than 8 glasses a day, you can end up with health issues)

It is simple, you can’t, you lactose intolerant Five nights at Freddy’s playboy.”
From roughly the age of 3 years old to my adolescent teen years I drink a lot of milk. Usually with Lucky Charms. At the age of 17 I had to get a test of my bone density, according to the doctor, my bones were dense enough to likely catch a small bullet (like .22 caliber). Of course the doc never suggested I was bullet proof. But all that said, I'm 35 now and I can't drink a lot of milk. Thanks to this video it now makes sense why I can't handle it as I did as a kid.
I’m the only brother out of three who didn’t have a lactose intolerance at a young age, so I drank way more milk than both of them. Now we’re all in our 30s and I’m nearly three inches taller than either of the other two. Our diets in adolescence were virtually identical outside of my greatly increased milk consumption. I’m also fatter than both of them too, so maybe it’s not all good?
I actually prefer the taste of nondairy nog..... not sure if it’s soy nog or almond nog. It’s just not as thick, which I do like! It’s more like a milk consistency.
I remember a doctor telling us that everyone has a threshold for how much milk they can consume before becoming lactose intolerant. I never liked milk so I didn’t drink much of it when I was little but my two brothers drank it a lot and all the time now in adulthood, im the only one who isn’t lactose intolerant and can still enjoy floats, rich ice cream and other lactose products. So it kinda makes sense because they must have reached that threshold waaay sooner.
"If you're drinking milk to be healthy..." So, if we consume dairy because it tastes good, especially that cheesecake or that ice cream on our brownie, then we're still good?
As someone who got reccomended by the doctor to consume 3 portions of diary a day, I don't think it's actually bad otherwise they would have prescribed calcium pills
Yeah. I think he was just saying that you shouldn't drink it just for the sake of drinking it. Like, if you enjoy dairy, go for it, but don't expect crazy health benefits from it.
Man, who would have thought that an institution literally called "The National Dairy Board" would want you to consume dairy products and to get you there with deceptive advertising lol

Very interesting video. Completely agree with the alternate sources of calcium, it’s too bad I have a FODMAP sensitivity, for me dairy is easier on the tum tum. One little bit of feedback. The suffix “ase” just lets you know that the biochemical structure you are talking about is an enzyme, not that it’s an enzyme that breakdowns things. For example an isomerase catalyzes the change in geometry or arrangement of a molecule. I also think you guys said lactose was a protein after saying it was a disaccharide. It’s the latter. Thanks for your video! 100% agree with how much dairy is hyped just help produces keep their cash cows (booooooooooooooo)
"A nutritional calcium pill and vitamin D is a short trip to the store." Slightly surprising to hear you say that (unless it's a topic for another show), because from what I've read, nutritional supplements do NOT act on the body the same as the nutrients in food. Unless that's propaganda from the "natural" food organization.
Calcium comes in different forms. Calcium citrate is best and more expensive. Vitamin d needs to be had with fats, but it's usually in a oil capsule. The vitamin D in milk is just an added supplement. Milk is full of sugar and cow udder puss. It's crap. Cheese and yogurt are actually better if you want dairy.
Edward, you are right. While supplements might be easier, they aren't a replacement for natural methods (aka: food). The reason vitamin D supplementation is so often recommended is because 1) The vast majority of people are deficient in it due to working indoors, season (winter vs summer), geography/sun position (more Vitamin D at the equator than in far north or south locations, and dietary changes (modern processed food vs ancestral diet) 2) You don't get much Vitamin D from food, even enriched food, Finland for instance has a program where all kinds of food are enriched with vitamin D (see number 1) and they have had to double the amount of enrichment in those foods. Sun exposure is the best way to get vitamin D. Other than Vitamin D there is no real need to supplementation if one has a proper diet, but that's difficult due to were people live, food expenses, supply, etc...if you live in the middle of the Midwest U.S. you aren't getting fresh fish so your main source of Omega fatty acids is absent and thus why people supplement (hemp seed is a good source too but that's only a recent source).
@@hermaeusmora2945 well said my friend. Taking a daily walk in the middle of the day or simply walking to your destination might help even in not so sunny places and hey walking. Other good sources of vitamin D are liver, fish oil, mushrooms and eggs.
Yes, natural ways to get it are better than supplements. (Thanks Dr Mike) but, if you are deficient then having that extra boost can help. For those of us not near the equator who have less daylight hours in the winter as well as getting obscenely cold outside, it becomes very difficult to just "go outside for some sun" when we're working most of those daylight hours. Very common here in MN to have vitamin D deficiency. Added bonus, the depo provera form of birth control can also decrease calcium levels(or deplete? unsure of the correct effect) so guess who's on supplements.... this gal.

he is right that majority of people have some form of lactose intolerance. However just like a small amount of people have really strong lactose intolerance, a small amount of people genuinely have zero lactose issues.

(Fairly new to the channels, still working my way through them)
This widely depends on region.
I'm the US vitamin D supplements are cheap. Milk has vitamin D added from supplements, anyway. Might as well skip all the gross things and natural sugar and calories in milk.
depends, you can make your own oat milk from oats at home and it wold work out cheaper if you bought in bulk.

If so than you’d need to have a lot and I mean A LOT of sugar to make someone addicted now if we want to expand the ingredients list than we could add in some actual drugs like coke.

Pepper I don't really know, it doesn't do much for me,
but salt just makes food taste better. Salt curing goes back thousands of years.
The channel “Be Smart” has done a vid about this!

I've always wondered who was the first guy who looked at a cow's udders and said, "I want to try some." I am lactose intolerant, but I still enjoy ice cream and I can eat cereal. Sometimes I do pay the price later, but not always. In moderation, I can consume dairy without any problems. One thing I heard that disturbs me is that when a cow gives birth, the calf is taken away from the mother in order for her to keep producing milk longer, for our benefit.
that is crazy and sad
I think it was less of a "I want to try some" and more of "hey, I am literally starving, if baby cows can get sustenance from this so can I."
No they will stop producing milk if their calf is taken away.

Yeah, we got the staples like Nasi Lemak and Rendang(which uses coconut milk, not of mammalian source, just joked as such) even those are clearly not nutritionally balanced. Even things like drinking goat milk or almond milk is a relatively recent fad.

As an Indonesian, I concur, and also add that those two are really really delicious so who cares if they're nutritionally balanced.
That's why Formula Milk always advertise they are from New Zealand? But then again, we also have dairy cows in Sabah and the company Farm Fresh

You don't need to drink milk or dairy at all. If you like the taste, fine. But it's not necessary
I like how this channel feels like factual fear-mongering
When I was younger I disliked the taste of milk and often avoided it. So my mom decided to switch over to oat milk, and I was able to stomach it. Ever since, my entire family has been drinking oat milk for many years and we have gotten so used to it that when we smell or taste actual milk ( like from a cow) we dislike it to the point we sometimes gag or even make a sour face.
The smell of milk literally always smells off to me, like it’s turned. Oat milk is so good I’m trying to convince certain family members to make the switch
Same here! Except we also drink almond milk or other kinds of plant milk just to try them.
See, I can eat literally ANY other food with dairy EXCEPT straight milk. It's weird lol.
Also, I prefer coconut milk lol.
wait what about milk that had cereal in it?
Omg same! Except my family drinks almond milk 😊

Also in few thousands of years human bodies may become even better adjusted and adapted to extract more nutrients from milk products if humans continue consuming them.

yea
As somebody who is lactose intolerant, I can confirm I am lactose intolerant.
Last year I tried regular egg nog for the first time in a long time--made me feel so sick! Light Egg Nog by Hood is delicious, plus Lactaid Egg Nog!!!
I actually prefer the taste of nondairy nog..... not sure if it’s soy nog or almond nog. It’s just not as thick, which I do like! It’s more like a milk consistency.
@@nevaehlumiere5418 I actually like that it's thick but I'll have to give it a try! Thanks for the heads up!
"If you're drinking milk to be healthy..."
So, if we consume dairy because it tastes good, especially that cheesecake or that ice cream on our brownie, then we're still good?
Duh
Even for health. Dairy generally speaking is healthy
Milk fans like me had a heart attack with that title
As someone who got reccomended by the doctor to consume 3 portions of diary a day, I don't think it's actually bad otherwise they would have prescribed calcium pills
Yeah. I think he was just saying that you shouldn't drink it just for the sake of drinking it. Like, if you enjoy dairy, go for it, but don't expect crazy health benefits from it.
Man, who would have thought that an institution literally called "The National Dairy Board" would want you to consume dairy products and to get you there with deceptive advertising lol

Most cows are over milked and develop infections. Their puss filled milk gets mixed and pasturized with the rest, so while it won't hurt you, you're still driving puss. I'm not a vegan, I just won't drink sugar (lactose is sugar) filled puss animal juice.
Wowww th-cam.com/video/FSSFgWlDbJU/w-d-xo.html……….
Added bonus, the depo provera form of birth control can also decrease calcium levels(or deplete? unsure of the correct effect) so guess who's on supplements.... this gal.
