I feel I need to record for prosperity that at the time of posting, the amazon link in the description results in a search with a best result of a season of Barney (as in, the show with the purple dinosaur for two-year-olds ) on prime video.
Some constructive criticism: Given that the major factors of any screen are bound to the panel used, I think it would be neat if you could include the specific panel and panel manufacturer in your reviews. For example, this one uses the M270DAN panel from AUO. I believe ALL the 165hz panels actually use this panel. However, if one does not like /likes a lot how a particular panel feels (as one might have experience with that panel 1st hand) it is a valueable information to know what screens share a panel. In fact, I find the "priority question" when choosing a monitor should always be "What panel from what panel manufacturer (LG, AUO, Samsung) do I want". THEN I choose what retail product-providers offer this panel in the most suited configuration to me. Who is building the whole screen in the best way possible (as in, calibrating the panel, building low input lag electronics chain in the periphery etc.) with the features I want and a good overall quality. Many traits stay the same and are bound to the panel, not the end-product manufacturer. It's a very good info to take into consideration.
I would agree. But add a caveat that the way a panel is driven makes a lot of difference. Particularly with colour accuracy and overshoot. As such, this would he relevant if the driver was as good as it could be, and not cheap as chips.
if you are serious in buying a monitor this is something you can research yourself easily why would a youtube review want to spam serial numbers in the video?
A heads up to any potential purchasers. The monitor will briefly black out intermittently using g-sync compatible. However, if you download Custom Resolution Utility and change the freesync range from 48-166hz to 50-166hz it fixes the issue. I'm not sure if all the monitors have this firmware issue, but it's fairly common if you look at reviews.
I am so excited that I caught this video early. I've been looking for a Monitor at this price point ever since before the pandemic even started. I was willing to spend a little bit more, but the little bit more options have been out of stock since forever. I managed to order one of these off Amazon before they sold out and based on your review it was a great purchase! Thanks so much!
I picked one of these up at the beginning of September. It was a bit of a risk considering that there were no reviews anywhere online. But it turns out that it is a very good monitor at a great price. The 3 year warranty and a 30 day return window on Amazon are also good.
I picked up the Pixio PX276h last year after seeing the review on the Harbor Unbox. My first 1440p monitor. I wasn't too thrilled with the color for HDMI. I got a DisplayPort cable and the color popped out vibrantly.
Your chart comparisons among all the relevant monitors are invaluable! These were key in me choosing the PX277 over others that I was considering in the same price range. Thank you so much for the effort you put into this video. Very, very helpful info in here!
@Mat It feels like the monitor should handle black/dark colors better. I've been playing Red Dead Redemption 2 on it, which often takes place in dark settings in-game, and I don't feel like this monitor is any better than my cheap office monitor. It does suffer from light bleed from the edges, but my understanding is that all IPS panels have this issue. I went with an IPS because they're supposed to be the most visually stunning, but this monitor doesn't really feel overly special to me. I will say that the response/refresh does seem to be good on this monitor, though. In all honesty, I don't compare monitors for a living and I don't have much context to base my opinions on, so I do trust that this is one of the best budget monitors you can get with these kinds of specs. However, I was expecting to be blown away visually and I'm just not.
@Mat I was debating between this and the Viewsonic one, so I guess I feel slightly better about my decision knowing you're not keeping the VS. I considered sending this Pixio back, but it's already at the top end of my price range and there isn't anything else on the market that can touch the specs it has. I'd like to actually go into a computer store and see some of the really high end gaming monitors for myself for comparison.
Carl Brescia thats a reasonable price. I had set a budget of 400. I have a couple of rigs (2070 and a 5700xt) and im looking to enjoy them as intended for my gaming. Do you have any negatives to the Dell
@@HardHeadMilitary honestly this is the first gaming monitor I've bought, previously I had a HP 60hz 1080p. So I have 0 complaints. Backlight bleed and ips glow don't bother me so I don't really notice them. I don't game in a pitch-black room so I don't notice any poor contrast or bad black uniformity. Ik everyone's milage will vary but from my experience with it I would 100% recommend it and have recommend it to a few friends who are building rigs this year too.
@@HardHeadMilitary also as far as response time it seems that the overdrives have been modified very well and that with the fast preset you get 3.8 gtg with almost no overshoot, super fast also offers an acceptable level of overshoot and gets you to 3.0 second response and both settings seem to carry on good down to 60hz. That info comes from the RTINGs review of the model.
Not available in France :s, well, I don't say that for me, more for my friends, I already bought the amazing LG 32GK650F thanks to your previous monitors review!
Could you guys dedicate a video to explaining your response time charts? I have no idea what the numbers or colours mean, or where on the chart to look when you speak. Keep being my favorite tech channel on the website!
Same I have no idea what it means. And I haven't found a video on YT that actually explain what the hell overshoot, undershoot and over drive. Like what am I looking att
@@592Johno imagine each pixel has a rainbow spectrum of color, and you are changing the pixel from blue to orange. Overshoot means it goes too far and would look red for a bit, and undershoot means it would look yellow. It doesn't work exactly like that because it also has browns blacks and greys in the mix, but I imagine it that way. It looks like a halo around high contrast items that is blurry and the wrong color
It's actually simple: 1 second is 1000 miliseconds. If a monitor has 165 Hz refresh rate, it means that it should theoretically refresh 165 times in a second. To get how often it should refresh in a second to refresh 165 times, divide 1000 ms by 165 Hz = 6.06 ms. That's the number Tim has under refresh window. That means the panel should refresh every 6.06 ms or faster (under 6.06) to achieve 165 refresh rate. So on the left are the actual measured numbers. So Average G2G 4.43 ms on high overdrive means that it refreshes every 4.43 ms on average, which is good, because it's lower than required maximum of 6.06 ms. Overdrive increases electrical current in the led diodes so they refresh faster. But faster response doesn't always mean correct response. A sub pixel has to hit a number between 0 and 255, lets say 150. If you give it enough time, it will get to exactly 150. But if you make it faster, it might miss it. Like driving a car, going faster introduces margin of error. So like if you make it 2 ms faster by applying voltage, in the given amount of time it has to do refresh, it might hit 145, or 155 instead of 150. Its called undershoot/overshoot. This info is not 100 % correct but an oversimplification. Hope it helps.
Marko's comment is a good, simplified explanation, but to simplify it even more, just pay attention to which settings give you the least orange/red boxes on both left and right charts. i.e, which settings can produce good response times *within* the refresh window *without* overshooting (displaying inaccurate colors).

In the U.S. Amazon has the ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-MHD in stock for $299.99 and free shipping. I recently purchased one and it arrived well before the expected delivery date.
I just discovered this monitor and I’m intrigued. It’s currently only $259 on Amazon and at that price it’s very tempting even though I’m not familiar with the Pixio brand. How would you say this stacks up against monitors like the Asus VG27AQ and LG 27GL83A-B for instance? I’d be getting 3 of these for a triple monitor setup so the money adds up quick and most other mid range monitors are at least $50 more and the LG is currently over a $100 more. Is I worth all the extra money to get one of those trusted brands?
The Gigabyte G27Q is basically the same price here in Canada. I'm tossing up buying the Gigabyte (same specs as this) but I cannot find any reviews on it
Hardware unboxed is one of the best monitor reviewers in youtube, heck I bought a LG 27GL850-B because this channel said that it is good. But honestly everytime I watch their monitor review I only check the first part about design and spec then skip to final thoughts because the middle part is too much detail for me to understand lol.
I'm happy that I bought this monitor for a triple monitor setup and everything. Like pixio said "it's a sweet spot" and thats perfect for me, I don't need anything more than to what I have. I'll be having these for long time.
You guys are excellent, and Hardware Unboxed is my harbour, (get it? :P), for monitor reviews. Keep it up! I need monitor guidance for 27" or 32" 1440p displays! Cheers. Subbed.
I have an Omen 27i and its absolutely awesome! I am looking for a second monitor with similar specs but at a reasonable price. I may have found it. Awesome review!
I love my AOC 27G2 IPS 144hz, I just wish they had an exact equal to this panel in 1440P that I could buy, because it performs great. (It's 1080P). This does look like an awesome budget option though, great review!
Currently only available in amazon uk, so we germans have to wait a bit longer. But it really looks kinda interesting, especially because its ips and the price is fair.
Dear HUB, please, please do a review of the LG CX 48" OLED. It is marketed towards gaming and so far the reviews have been very positive for PC gaming. Would absolutely love to listen to your thoughts and see how it holds up against the competition.
+1 HU is one of the very few channels that properly review a display. They even mentioned this tv in their latest recommendations. It would be a decent indication for us to what to expect from an OLED display (and quite possibly what comes after it too, like QD-OLED, QNED)
Tim will likely only review the LG CX if LG gives him a review sample. $1500+ is too much Patreon money to spend to review just one product, and the findings will likely not be super useful to most people as a 48-inch TV is probably a deal-breaker for most PC gamers. I do hope LG does send a review sample, because I’m sure the CX will absolutely crush the response time graphs, and it will be glorious to see a sea of greens.
Love this! Please review the Pixio px278 soon. It’s a 1440p 144hz TN and looks solid, would love to see how it compares against the Viotek GFT27DB TN as it has a slightly better DCI and brightness. Caught between both for my Xbox Series X
I'd love a Gigabyte G27Q review. So torn weather to buy that or this Pixio... would love some help. Thank you for all your content, it's fantastic. Keep up the great work.
Still very happy with my PX7 Prime, but if I hadn't purchased that one earlier this year I would be very interested in this new one, but I do like the height adjustable stand on mine.
Great vid, Tim! I put this monitor on my wishlist to someday replace my 60hz AOC 27". Btw, I understand you review PC monitors and laptop hardware... but have you ever thought of doing an "accessory" video for monitors and laptops? For example: monitor arm stands, display calibration tester, various HDMI or DisplayPort cables, cable management channels, or what kind of desk you would prefer?
I know this is primarily a PC gaming channel but think would be great if Tim did a video on best monitors for Xbox Series X & PS5. Obviously a lot of people are in libo because there are no monitors with HDMI 2.1 yet. When they release next year they won't be cheap either. Most people will likely be looking at 1440p using HDMI 2.0.
Great review! I was wondering if you could do a review of the Gigabyte G27Q IPS display. In my area, the price is around the same as the Viewsonic and this Pixio displays

I’d be getting 3 of these for a triple monitor setup so the money adds up quick and most other mid range monitors are at least $50 more and the LG is currently over a $100 more. Is I worth all the extra money to get one of those trusted brands?
I love the clean design, I have it's smaller brother the 248S and I love it
A new product
Pixio PX277 Prime Neo
Is available
Could you please review that also?
The Gigabyte G27Q is basically the same price here in Canada. I'm tossing up buying the Gigabyte (same specs as this) but I cannot find any reviews on it
Same here! I really want to see some comparisons to these other monitors!
@@mrfrogysin M27Q is another one I really wanna see a review for
Hardware unboxed is one of the best monitor reviewers in youtube, heck I bought a LG 27GL850-B because this channel said that it is good. But honestly everytime I watch their monitor review I only check the first part about design and spec then skip to final thoughts because the middle part is too much detail for me to understand lol.
Was waiting for this monitor for months but eventually went with the BENQ EX2780Q. I have zero regrets.
I'm happy that I bought this monitor for a triple monitor setup and everything. Like pixio said "it's a sweet spot" and thats perfect for me, I don't need anything more than to what I have. I'll be having these for long time.
Mines just showed up yesterday and I love it. Cant beat the price for the features it offers.
What do you use for the color settings?
Thank you for this review. This made my mind up and I am not able to watch your videos in 1440p :)
Currently only available in amazon uk, so we germans have to wait a bit longer.
But it really looks kinda interesting, especially because its ips and the price is fair.
Love the stasch! Are you doing the doctober challenge?
Value offering, yes Tim! :)
More please
Dell S2721DGF next please
11:00 When you know most people have no clue what you are talking about, so you have to say that it is good 😂😂
When he has to do a monkey explanation for all us casuals xD
🤣
McCree mustache. very nice 👍
Dear HUB, please, please do a review of the LG CX 48" OLED. It is marketed towards gaming and so far the reviews have been very positive for PC gaming. Would absolutely love to listen to your thoughts and see how it holds up against the competition.
I can tell you that's a great 120Hz performer! I'm using for two weeks now, I enjoy my Rocket League more than before! :3
120hz OLED dream come true. Would love to see it reviewed here and compared to other monitors
Even tho it's totally out of my price range, I'd be interested to hear their thoughts
I got one 2 days ago. It’s awesome value!
Did you guys get a new camera? Picture looks really sharp!
is it a good buy for $200 now?
*"Welcome back todd were unboxed"*
I think youtube captions are on drugs today.
Todd is what you get if you max a tim with a steve
Always have been.
Ordered my 27inch 1440p monitor from Korea back in 2014 didn't cost much and does the job 🙂
Will you review the Gigabyte G34WQC any time soon?
I want to buy this monitor but i am waiting for your review to be safe.
Wooooo 600k Congrats!!
I'd love a Gigabyte G27Q review. So torn weather to buy that or this Pixio... would love some help.
Thank you for all your content, it's fantastic. Keep up the great work.
great video folks - any idea where the rest of us australian lot can pick up pixio displays?
Over here in Europe at this particular moment,
the Pixio is €490 euros, but the Viewsomic is only €285.
Straightforward choice then, right....?
Got my px275h on sale for $230. Pretty damn happy with it, so I might recommend this direct upgrade px277 to friends.
I have a pixio monitor and DAMN does it look good. I had my doubts but after 5 or 6 months I can say without a doubt it's amazing. Pixio px275H
Are you going to test the new Gigabyte g34wqc soon?
Did Australia switch to summertime? Your videos are an hour earlier.
Daylight savings 😀
Still very happy with my PX7 Prime, but if I hadn't purchased that one earlier this year I would be very interested in this new one, but I do like the height adjustable stand on mine.
Great vid, Tim! I put this monitor on my wishlist to someday replace my 60hz AOC 27".
Btw, I understand you review PC monitors and laptop hardware... but have you ever thought of doing an "accessory" video for monitors and laptops? For example: monitor arm stands, display calibration tester, various HDMI or DisplayPort cables, cable management channels, or what kind of desk you would prefer?
They have done a display calibration guide
Wasn’t going to watch this video but I saw Paladins in the thumbnail and had to see why
Great review! Looks like a good monitor, but the lack of height adjustment is a big deal for me.
Great vids!! Appreciate the work. 1 question - does the Acer VG272UP have the same panel as the LG 27GL850-B 🤔
not available in australia what an awesome review
that moustache has just earned a subscribe
can you add the dell S2721DGF to the comparison charts, and any quick opinions on it?
They haven't reviewed it yet. They will soon tho
Congrats with the 600K 🥳
I love watching your videos when i wake up
These monitor reviews are seriously good, I think I'll hold off for the LG 850-B and see if it comes down in price.
No matter how much I watch monitor reviews, the hilariously long strings of characters that are the names for these monitors makes me laugh.
Thank you for the video!! Is that a mustachios?? Is there a 70's party your getting ready for?
Just ordered this monitor on Amazon with a promo they had on it! 40$ coupon at checkout! After. Tax was 287$ usd! Upgrading from. 1080p 144hz
Subscribed for the information and stayed for the mustache
