    Really appreciate your video as it was clear, to the point and engaging - I learnt a lot. I’ve been mulling over purchasing this unit (the Pb770T version) after seeing its performance last winter as my neighbour kindly cleared our front yard and steps many times. I just can’t manage the walk-behind snow thrower any longer and just sold it. With the in-dept knowledge gained from your video I’m more confident to buy the unit and will purchase it today with the funds from selling the snow thrower. Thank you.

    Nice job explaining the overall problems with this unit. I am currently troubleshooting an ignition coil problem. I have no spark currently and a new coil installed after a broken spark plug coil wire was found. Will let you know my findings.
    Thanks Wally

    Wally, great video. I just bought a PB 770H at a g-sale cheap. It looked like it was well used/dirty but started on only 2 pulls and ran great. It needed new straps, flex tube and I replaced all the fuel lines, air filter and purge bulb. The kill terminal on the coil was loose and wouldn't kill the engine. I inspected the cylinder thru the spark plug hole and it looked perfect. I wanted to pull the muffler but the bolts are super tight and I didn't want to risk shearing them off. Glad to hear these things are pretty reliable.

    I found one of these that was left for dead. Siezed, no spark plug, water in cylinder. I put in some WD-40 let is sit for a week. I was able to free the piston, i put a carb kit in it. I actually started and has been running for 6 years. I do about an acre of leaves.

    I'm cheap so whenever I get one in to flip with a bad muffler I put on a pb403/pb413/pb603/pb500 muffler. The bolt pattern is identical and the gasket is the perfect shape as well. At first I was worried that the smaller muffler would restrict the air flow, but it does not, atleast not noticeably

    Mine seems to turn off after I start putting throttle, if I leave it to simply idle it’s fine. As soon as I get on the throttle it works for about 1 minute and then gives out turning off completely. Also once it turns off it shakes pretty heavy right as it turns off. Any idea what if could be?

    Wally, This is a great video. I have a PB-770T which has been running fine. Last fall it started losing power and stalling after 20 minutes of running like it was out of gas. I have to wait about an hour before it will start and run fine for another 20 minutes. Vapor lock or engine overheating. I read someplace that carbon buildup blocking the exhaust port. Any suggestions? thanks, Joe Desiderio

    I’m working on a friends blower that won’t engage the plastic pawls when you pull the rope. I removed the starter recoil assembly and it works fine but I noticed a chunk of plastic broken off that looks like it should engage the pawls. I’m guessing it’s going to need whole new starter assembly to fix the problem unless there is a fix that I’m not aware of. (770 T)

    • @komander509
      @komander509 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello, I’m having the same issue. Did you fix this problem? Or just replace the starter assembly?

    • @stoolie10
      @stoolie10 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My issue ended up being that my friend had attempted to fix his blower but put the starter assembly on crooked and it destroyed the plastic part inside. If your plastic pawls are in good shape you should be good to just replace the starter assembly. Just make sure everything goes back together correctly and the screws tighten down evenly.

    Im not sure if you will reply. I have a pb770t just put a new carb on it. However, after just a few minutes, it boggs down, but idles fine. I've tried to find a sweet spot with the needle, but that doesn't seem to fix the problem. Any suggestions?

      Start with the basics, good fuel, make sure the fuel line and filter are ok, make sure the exhaust port is clean. Are you adjusting the “H” or high side of the carb at full throttle?

    • @wallysworkin823
      @wallysworkin823  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Echo kill switches are terrible. You can try cleaning the switch with carb cleaner or brake parts cleaner. In rare cases the kill switch post on the coil itself will fail requiring a coil replacement.

    • @wallysworkin823
      @wallysworkin823  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t like the carbs, I rarely see issues with the factory walbro. Rebuilding them will usually take care of any issues (walbro K23-WYK kit). I don’t have any experience with the top end kits for the 770’s. The ones I’ve seen for other units didn’t seem to last long or run properly. If I remember correctly the Echo piston kit is only $38 and the cylinder is $60 I believe, can’t remember exactly.

      @@wallysworkin823 Thank you very much for your timely reply. I live in Tucson and use both of my blowers for Archeological work. I started using a compressor to blow off features and to find them. Then the blower was invented and I've been using it ever since. One thing to pass along. The blue foam air filters I have found leaking at the folded/pleaded ends of the filter paper. Candeling them using the sun, you might see tiny to large gaps of sunlight shining through. I doubt they do this during quality control. Not sealed well. l use silicone on those ends.

    • @wallysworkin823
      @wallysworkin823  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Always check the basics first, air filter, fuel filter and exhaust. If it suddenly dies (like turning it off with the kill switch) when it gets warm it’s a possible coil issue. If it slowly loses power then it’s usually a fuel issue. It could be a simple carb adjustment but check the basics first. Check your fuel line as well to make sure it’s not leaking or has cracks.

      @@wallysworkin823 thanks for your reply. I’ve done all the basics. The machine has maybe 20hrs total. It bogs down quick and dies. Restarts easy, idles great. Everything looks brand new. Leaning toward faulty coil.

    • @wallysworkin823
      @wallysworkin823  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Start with the basics. Did you verify the compression with a gauge or just feel? I ask this because an engine may "feel" like it has compression but if it's not high enough it will be hard to start or won't start at all. Did you verify it has spark? A simple way is to remove the plug from the head insert it into the coil wire, ground the plug to the head and pull the starter while watching the plug for spark.
