Buying the XR is the best purchase I’ve ever made. I usually get over things pretty quickly and as of yesterday I’ve owned the XR for a year and I still ride it every day!
Black ops Baker If you have the extra money for it I would definitely get it! My friend that was on the fence bought it and said wish I bought it sooner!
Hello, Onewheel original owner here. (716 miles on my board) One very important thing you forgot to mention was how to safely get off the board. From my experience with letting other people ride my onewheel, they have no problem while moving.. most beginner crashes happen when trying to get off the board. The Onewheel has a sensor on the front foot pad that you can disengage the motor by lifting your toes up. (Or heel)
Wanted one for years and finally decided I’m going for it!!! Got my pint one week ago and if I’ve not been in work I’ve been practicing and building my confidence on my pint! Use to do aggressive in line skating for years and boards always kinda scared me. “Hurt more when you fell” However getting on this brought back those memories of how good it feels to just glide!!! And best part is everyone loves it and wants to talk to you about it! Very very proud ambassador here! If I was talking tips I could say 3 simple ones. 1) trust the board, don’t over compensate as the board will react with it and makes it a lot scarier, all about small but bold moves! 2) your going to fall but don’t be put off, hurts your ego most. I took a gorgeous slam in front of a little old lady the other day on a walking stick and she was the one helping me up 🤦🏼♂️. Don’t let it knock you as they say get right back on the “horse” board??? something like that. 3) take advantage of the ability to use all terrains. From being a skater my whole thing was I will only use it for roads. Could not be more wrong. I’ve done 80% of my practice in parks on grass to get my Balance where it needs to be! Love it. Honestly guys I can’t sell this enough, this thing is a game changer for me and as a 31 year old made me feel young again but not look like I’m trying to hard. Honestly would happily do any bits to support as a fan if needed! Thanks again all.
I bought my onewheel pint 3 months ago brand new. Had it for a week and sold it to my coworker to fund the purchase of my new XR because I loved it so much. What the Pint offered, I wanted more of- and that was the XR. Now both he and I have XRs and we got another coworker to buy an XR as well.... It's pretty amazing. I should get some kickback, lol
Here is one thing that helped me a lot when I first started riding. Have a stick in your hand so if you start riding and you lose balance and you start falling to either side you can use the stick to stabilize yourself it helped me a lot
I can see a stick being useful for mount n dismount but if you put a stick in the ground at speed it might not end well... Once you are moving it is so easy to stay balanced.. The only time i struggle with staying on is at idle.. Then the stick wld be helpful. Ie, waiting at traffic lights etc
I would strongly recommend against have a stick in your hands when riding. Good way to impel yourself. And while we're at it, don't run with scissor or a lollipop in your mouth.
It's the third year with my XR .... and I still love it!! I tried so many boards, but this is the only one I kept. So reason to try something else. Oh yes - helmet and protective gear should be part of every ride. The time will come when you will separated from you OW and hit the ground amazingly hard ;)
Cheers to 3 years riding! We have to agree, there's just nothing quite like riding wheel :) And yes, we've taken our spills too.Anything worth doing has some risk but that's the lifestyle we choose. Rather experience the world than sit on the couch!
I'm sitting here with a broken wrist cause i didn't respect the push back. Im sorry onewheel ill do better in 4 to 6 weeks when i can ride you again. The clip gave me ptsd from it lol.
I am a real fan and love my XR, but "one thing to know" you should have added, if been real honest : If you get the "need Juice" because one of the cell is done after just a few hundreds miles and you live anywhere but the US, you are screwed : Onewheel has no branch anywhere else but in the US so you'll have to wait for month, and they will ask you for money for something that should be taken under guaranty free of charge, even after one year.
I AM SO STOKED!!! I've been salivating over the One Wheel for years now and I finally was able to purchase mine!! Expected ship date is the 22nd! I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT WAIT!!! :D
Onewheel wow! Started riding on my son's pint. Practiced with a garden tool in my hand til I got it. Now I have an XR with almost 900 km's on it. Some of the best riding of my life and I've spent years snowboarding sometimes 150 days a year...fun wow! Oh and I was going to buy an electric bike for trail riding here on the Sunshine Coast of B. C. So glad to have bought this instead. They're so much cheaper :) One more thing at this point I'm at like $2 per km. Another 900 km and it'll be free riding...Oh I'm 56 yoa..
Three advices that I missed: • always wear gears, even if you plan to ride very "slow and safe". • buy some railguards the very first day (you can't change your Pints rails, but you will make heavy scratches while learning how to ride) • buy a fender or be very good at avoiding water on the floor. Your shoes and pants will be a real mess if you don't 😂 And by the way, riding your OW will be in the top 3 things you love to do in your life ❤️
I love this video so much so glad I purchased one my pint is definitely the smoothest easy to learn and amazing shred machine it has taken me on so many adventures and I've gotten two of my friends to get one the fun never stops 🤙
Just ordered my first One Wheel before watching this video. Now that I have watched the video, I know I made the right choice. I can’t wait to get it and start carving up my streets.
#2 - seriously! It takes some practice to get down to natural, smooth cruising. Heel-side turns are insane - they feel like falling at first (because if you weren't on a onewheel, you would actually fall backward). And bumps/potholes/slanted pavement really mess with you. Once you get there though, movement is insanely natural and intuitive, because it's just balance. You become the onewheel.
It took me about 10 - 20 minutes to actually drive confidently. I rode waveboards, so I guess I had an advantage. Another dude hopped on it and basically drove all along. He has professional Longboard Experience, so there's that.
Just got my pint! 7 miles this evening. Damn this thing is fun. I rode around the yard on my friend's xr and pint, but nothing like going for a few miles straight. Great product! That first time hopping off after 5 or so miles, I felt like I was still moving haha.
Son (*snicker), I'm 53 and just started riding with my son. If you have any board sports experience you will pick it up in minutes, if you don't, its still easy enough. Plus you can adjust the settings in the app to tone down, or tune up how the unit performs. Its so much fun, do it man. Besides its so much cooler looking than a Red Miata and leather fingerless gloves. :D
My main concern is the lack of waterproofing. I live in the UK where it RAINS. ALL. THE. TIME. If I could be sure it wouldn’t kill my two grand board I would definitely buy one.
Foot placement is huge. Saved myself lots of scrapes in my last nosedive not having all my weight towards the front. Took off too quickly and felt the nose drop out but i had fallen before so i tried to lean back and it leveled out for a second but i ended up skidding the tail before i lost balance and fell... Didnt escape scrape free but definitely lost enough speed to make it a minor accident
Hello Adam! A suggestion. I've noticed that people tend to push it to the limit on this bad boy and end up facepalming the floor, which is never a good reputation, which is sad. But! You could program it to slow down /cut the speed by force so for a certain of time (5-10 secs would be enough) so it will give awareness to rider. Or shredder? Damn boi. TM that hahahaha. 2nd, if you're looking for another aproach, you could change the design on the nose part. Add like a mini wheel/roller at the end of the nose section as the cause of the fall always comes from the nose sticking to the ground which made the OneWheel stop from 100 - 0 real quick. Please do consider this Adam! This thing shreds and I'd love to own one in the future!! Love from Malaysia.
I think you guys should follow through on that crazy suspension patent you have. I'm looking to upgrade from a Pint but debating whether I should wait for the next XR successor
This was great. Unfortunately for pint owners we only get a top 9 although not really mentioned. UNLESS we are about to get a firmware update for custom shaping! 😂
Michael McAdams I hope we get custom shaping for the pint. It’s perfect for what I use it for and custom shaping would be the cherry on top. Till then Pacific all the way for that buttery carve.
I love my xr so far, I've only had it a week or so and I've already put 43 miles on it. Do agree its kinda like snowboarding so I picked it up quicker. Now I just need friends to ride with, I'm also in San Jose so maybe? lol
Im 31 and just got one today. Its friggin awesome. I was driving back from the store thinking maybe I’d regret spending so much money on what’s basically a toy, but the moment I started riding around, i was like yeah, this is amazing.
These things are so easy and intuitive to ride. Just take it easy and learn your limits and the boards. Learning what makes the board nosedive and how to prevent makes nosedives a thing of the past! Had my pint since Christmas of 2019 and am already almost at 800 miles!
I found it really easy to learn to ride and I teach people to ride by using 2 broomsticks for balance. Makes starting and stopping a breeze until one gets the whole lifting the heel or jumping off thing worked out.
bred I’ve alway wanted to build my own but don’t really have any experience in the area and also wouldn’t trust my own software to keep me from nosediving
@steven I used hoverboard internals to build everything as the hoverboard is pretty good at keeping you balanced. If you want more details look up the TH-cam channel Zblab and the TH-cam channel thedirtis they have great videos detailing the process and overall reliability. It is not for the faint of heart but the end result is worth it.
@@beachbumlife It might, but it is his. He might enjoy the path to resolve. And even that the end result would not compare with OW, it would develop deeper understanding and respect for innovation that has been put into commercial product.
I was able to try my cousins onewheel and it was hard at first but within 30 mins it was really fun my cousin explained all the basics and was basically repeat of this video
As a person who pays attention to the wording of advertising, I noticed that you said ASSEMBLED in america. As in put together using parts from, like, China? No matter. I'd still buy one if I wasn't 70 (yes, seven zero) years old. Even the Pint costs too much money to find out I lack the balance to ride it any more. When I was riding skate boards they still had wheels made of clay and rollerskate trucks. Those wheels would gradually get smaller and smaller from riding on pavement until they resembled Hot Wheels cars. There was an unvoiced competition in our neighborhood to see who could ride the smallest, most worn down wheels without falling over the cracks in the pavement. The nosedive you mentioned probably resembles the results of waiting too long to put new wheels on. Funny. I don't remember the road rash, though I know I had my share. I guess my memory isn't what it used to be.
I would love this beast of a product only problem is it comes with a beast of a price. Not something I can afford now but hopefully when I can it’s still as appealing as now
Just recently discovered these. I was thinking about a new snowboarding kit for next season but now I'm second guessing that option. These things look fun. If there is another round of stimulus checks I might be able to do both 🤞
If you want to take a steep hill, get some momentum first. You will be surprised at the power this thing really has. Not to mention going back down said hill feeling like a boss 😎🤙
I really wanted one. Like really wanted one, so much I picked up a balance board to start getting In better shape for it wile I saved up for one. But then I found a 200cc dirt bike for $1500... I used the extra $300 on a really nice long board. Still want one but I’ll just have to wait a few years till they go down in price.
I was about to publish my 10 things video when this came out. Now I'll have to trash it because this video is better. Good work. 😁
Thanks Jimmy! Hope all is well with you and the family during these times.
Nice try Jimmy, but you gotta adapt to the OG's work sometimes...
@@Onewheel thanks. Staying busy. Building gardens. Riding wheels. Making videos.

I start people on grass so if they fall it won’t be nearly as bad. Then if they can even kinda do it off-road then pavement is super simple.

this really helped with deciding whether to get a one-wheel or not. also watching in 1.5x speed is better than 1x.

If you want more details look up the TH-cam channel Zblab and the TH-cam channel thedirtis they have great videos detailing the process and overall reliability. It is not for the faint of heart but the end result is worth it.
@J Book sorry can’t right now I am still *building* it
@@beachbumlife It might, but it is his. He might enjoy the path to resolve. And even that the end result would not compare with OW, it would develop deeper understanding and respect for innovation that has been put into commercial product.
it's rad seeing Long's Marine Lab and Natural Bridges in this video.
I was able to try my cousins onewheel and it was hard at first but within 30 mins it was really fun my cousin explained all the basics and was basically repeat of this video
Dont got a OneWheel but many youtubers that im subscribed to rep the onewheel, saying that it is balling.
Thank you! This helped a lot!
I bought one before seeing these 10 things, what do I do now? Lol. Love the vid.
I guess my memory isn't what it used to be.
nose drive kills so respect push back
I would love this beast of a product only problem is it comes with a beast of a price. Not something I can afford now but hopefully when I can it’s still as appealing as now
This thing is so cool! 👍😀
Looks like a great product.
I had my pint for a month now and it only took me 5 mins to learn how to ride a one wheel 🤘🏾
Just bought a summerboard. I hope I don’t regret it lol
Just recently discovered these. I was thinking about a new snowboarding kit for next season but now I'm second guessing that option. These things look fun. If there is another round of stimulus checks I might be able to do both 🤞
Another round of stimulus checks? That's the last thing we need
Honestly the best purchase ever
Dang right Grayson 👊
If you have any knee trouble, be sure to use very good knee bracing. I'm getting a custom fit knee support.
If you want to take a steep hill, get some momentum first. You will be surprised at the power this thing really has. Not to mention going back down said hill feeling like a boss 😎🤙
Plus that regenerative braking to get you some extra juice on the way down 🔋
@@Onewheel oh, you know it!!!
You made a mistake
Way to go buddy!
