I was really surprised at how easy the tire is to mount on that wheel. I figured they'd at least need to hit it with some liquid soap to get it over the rim. Really like the tour through the whole assembly and testing process. From what I've seen, these guys really know their stuff and are taking customer feedback and constantly improving the end product(s). 16 miles on that little battery pack while moving the average sized adult, plus the board itself, is incredible! The re-gen function is great if you're operating in hilly terrain for getting the maximum range out of this unit. Wish I could afford one!😁👍
Now I want one of them so bad! I never new Onewheel was a small company and made in California, I always assumed these were some cheap crap that would break day 1. You legit might have just sold me a Onewheel!

It's generally recommended with car tires to be cautious for the first little while as you drive on new tires as you wear off the "new tire garbage".
You should check out wren from the corridor crew , he changed the tire of the one wheel to a off road one and added a quick release extra external battery
As a result of watching the enthusiasm of Adam, I went and bought an XR. I am a bit older but I couldn’t resist! I intend to take it easy not to break any bones and have a blast with board!
I have literally watched this video 5 or 6 times and it's awesome every single time. Adam Savage makes everything fun and, being originally from the bay area myself, I love that everything is California made. I can't wait until I can afford my first one.
@@CadillacJak you can't actually believe that. Almost everything is made in China or some other Asian country. Would you say your phone or your PlayStation is poorly made?
This video helped sell me on the Onewheel XR+. Yes, it is incredibly expensive. In my experience you even need to spend more money on a good padded, curved back footpad and a fender. I got some of my stuff from third party brands. Once you build the Onewheel that fits you, it's some of the best fun you'll have. I live in a small town in rural Ohio and I've taken this thing all over the country on a recent road trip. The interesting conversations with intrigued people alone is fun and entertaining. The ride itself is an experience unlike any other. Up and down crazy hills, off road, around town, in the country. This does it all. Expensive, yes, but so incredibly satisfying. Also, built like a tank as the video says.
Seeing some of the ingenuity that goes into the manufacturing process is inspiring! I’m all thumbs when it comes to building/fixing/designing stuff, but I can appreciate excellence when I see it!
Nice video. Was out riding this weekend and had at least 3 people ask me "did I make that". So funny how many people still have never seen one of these. Riding on the boardwalk in Wildwood, NJ and did however pass two (2) other OneWheel riders...certainly, catching on! Nicely done team! Such a fun product to ride...
Quality control and component quality is amazing! I was on the fence about getting an XR but not anymore. 🤔 You just don't get this level of quality from cheap Chinese made boards. If you ask me quality is a safety features on something I'll be riding down the street at 20+ mph! 😬
I love how hes just genuinely interested in the brand and that he wasn't paid outright to say good things about the company. Adam Savage, you have earned my respect.
Except if he did any research into their business practices he would want nothing to do with them. They are about as anti self repair and diy as you can get. They outright have used legal action against people they don't like.
When Will I Learn? It is absolutely amazing!! My wife and i each got an XR about 3 month ago. It is well worth every single penny, especially if your travel to work is under about 10 miles. The Onewheel literally changed my life.. I'm 33 (zero board sport experience) and the OW basically gave me my childhood back. Instead of riding bikes around the city with my friends, I'm floating all over town on my OneWheel with my wife 😁
It's expensive for the battery life it has. Plus its not good at handling hills and the range is very limited. It is the best option though compared to regular electric skateboards like boosted
Michael Vu It has a range of 12-18 miles and only takes about 2 hours to fully recharge from 0. 99.99999% of people would be tired and need a break long before the battery is dead.
Michael Vu oh and it's amazing at handling hills.. a 25% incline is a pretty steep hill, and it'll power right up it. Also, the lighter the person, the steeper and faster you will climb. My wife flys by me on hills because I'm about 100 lbs larger than her. But still at 6' tall and 220 lbs, my max speed has been 22.6 mph. Off-roading on this thing is absolutely amazing.
I'd never seen one of these before watching this film but of all the personal electric balancing wheeled transport things I HAVE seen, this is clearly the one that makes the most sense in every way. Would love to try one.
Adam needs to get a GT and review it. Actually, it would be really cool to see him make a video about Onewheel mods, especially about the stuff people are doing with the open source VESC controllers. Of course, doing so would probably burn some bridges with Future Motion...lol
Just went for my first long ride yesterday on one my brother borrowed from his job. I'm so sold and was elated to realize you are a onewheeler too. Nice video!
Seeing it actually assembled like this lets you see the actual quality put into these machines. You definitely get what you paid for and I want an XR now.

There’s this interesting instrument called the melodica and it’s like a combination of a harmonica and a piano. It’s a wind instrument and is played by blowing through a tube and pressing certain keys to play different notes. I personally love them and though it would be cool to see Adam try to modify one of them to try and make it more intricate.
@@TheCammerhammer Its not so much hydroplaning its the slick tyre having no grip on wet surfaces like granite, can make for some really nasty falls speaking from experience. I bought a treaded hoosier tyre replacement for my onewheel, best decision I ever made especially for going offroad. Most serious onewheel riders will switch to treaded tyres pretty quick
Imagine how much stronger your calves would be with a $200 skateboard. And what you could do with the extra $1500. You could spend a month or two in SE Asia easy (I know because I work here), including the round trip flight.
Is it weird that noticed a small continuity errors in the video 0:45 - Shirt is dirty, says "before I head in there..." 1:35 - Shirt no longer dirty. (thought maybe he cleaned up a bit before meeting the owner of the company) 18:33 - shirt is now dirty in the same exact fashion as the opening of the video.
Because of the expense of the one wheel this is something sadly I will never own in this lifetime. But thanks to Adam Savage I get to see what one surfer / skater looks like when he wakes up on his birthday and gets what he hoped for. Thanks Adam.
The cost of these units is not at all surprising. I see at least 9 different components they could be re-engineered and manufactured for cost while delivering the same performance and similar looks. This is why you need good engineers onboard for startups like this. Making it go and manufacturing it aren't the only aspects to selling a product.
Wow man, you must be a really successful millionaire with all this insight into re-engineering and manufacturing. Oh wait, you're just armchair quarterbacking on a youtube video? Oh okay.
I've seen a few vids showing people putting treaded tyres with a rounded edge on their OneWheel. Less stable at low speed but a lot tighter turns etc. Looks a lot more fun.

Adam and Wren from Corridor Digital should team up and make some cool Onewheel mods.
SquaredSmith yes
This thing is just as useful
They're made in America?
Jesus, that's why they're so ridiculously expensive.
Robert Butler to add to that, California is the most expensive state in the US
Imagine Canada
Yeah I am reallydisappointed.
They should produce in China till automatisation is further ahed.
It costs money to have something nice. If it was built in China it would crumble in pieces before you made it a block down the road
@@CadillacJak you can't actually believe that. Almost everything is made in China or some other Asian country. Would you say your phone or your PlayStation is poorly made?
Best part: “Electrons are heavy” Adam cracks up
This video helped sell me on the Onewheel XR+.
Impressive. attention to detail is key. Even tho i wont be buying one, i know now that they are superb.
9:29 Adam's face!😂
Yes ur channel gud make big ekronoplan plz
Safety orange is surprisingly nice colour.
Nice video. Was out riding this weekend and had at least 3 people ask me "did I make that". So funny how many people still have never seen one of these. Riding on the boardwalk in Wildwood, NJ and did however pass two (2) other OneWheel riders...certainly, catching on! Nicely done team! Such a fun product to ride...
oh woow Kyle is such a nice, friendly and down do earth guy. Love the attitude and the thinking they put into the onewheel
Quality control and component quality is amazing! I was on the fence about getting an XR but not anymore. 🤔 You just don't get this level of quality from cheap Chinese made boards. If you ask me quality is a safety features on something I'll be riding down the street at 20+ mph! 😬
I love the fact that they use 3D printed stuff on their assembly line !
many companies do, and the parts are often the first to break
Better make one for Wren from Corridor
Yeah you're right
This was awesome! Adam was SOOO psyched! You can’t not be happy seeing someone having that much fun. Great review and product! Good luck all :)
It always makes me so happy to see Adam get so excited about something. He just has such a positive energy, I love it!
I love how hes just genuinely interested in the brand and that he wasn't paid outright to say good things about the company. Adam Savage, you have earned my respect.
This is the best kind of endorsement … getting a Fan to build their own gift with management assistance Whooo !
Except if he did any research into their business practices he would want nothing to do with them. They are about as anti self repair and diy as you can get. They outright have used legal action against people they don't like.
One wheel looks like a crazy fun mode of transport
When Will I Learn? Sadly also crazy expensive (albeit for good reason)
Seen Louis Rossmans recent right to repair rants against one wheel? Still love them?
I'd never seen one of these before watching this film but of all the personal electric balancing wheeled transport things I HAVE seen, this is clearly the one that makes the most sense in every way. Would love to try one.
My Onewheel Pint arrives Friday and I couldn't be more stoked
*Adam* "So where do we start"
*other guy* "at the beginning",
Hahaha WTF.
Lol I noticed that too. And he brought another line like that later.
15:21 "where to next?" - "onwards" XD
0:50 Using a camera as door wedge :')
shhhhh, that was me. (norm)
Adam needs to get a GT and review it. Actually, it would be really cool to see him make a video about Onewheel mods, especially about the stuff people are doing with the open source VESC controllers. Of course, doing so would probably burn some bridges with Future Motion...lol
He should immediately unplug the battery and plug it back in
LOL
Just went for my first long ride yesterday on one my brother borrowed from his job. I'm so sold and was elated to realize you are a onewheeler too. Nice video!
Seeing it actually assembled like this lets you see the actual quality put into these machines. You definitely get what you paid for and I want an XR now.
I love when Adam goes around to other places and just acts like he’s in Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory
1:52 (in the voice of David Attenborough) "The ever so declining species of California hippy displays his mating rituals in hopes to attract a potential mate."
Watching this reminds me of the Mythbuster episode when they put square wheel on a pickup truck
They should link two OneWheels together side by side with a platform to stand on then put a stick on it with a handle.
Great idea so a giant segway that sounds amazing
I legitimately thought of that video before I searched up for Adam's builds, wow.
I love how Adam is insanely smart and knowledgeable but every time he does some thing it’s like a little kid on Christmas just pure joy. That’s how I iam to be.
I saw a Onewheel the other day in downtown Saint Paul, MN; nice to see it getting so far across the country.
Yo Adam should link up with Colin Furze imagine those two on a project together!
I wonder what Adam has to say about the fact that this thing bricks itself if you unplug the battery
I wish there was more like Adams in the world. I wish I had a father like you, you must be one awesome father.
Adam's passion and joy is infectious. I wish I could find a reason to justify buying a OneWheel! Thanks for 20 minutes of smiles.
Completely slick wheel.
"love riding it in the rain"
Lol, okay.
If you think that this thing is going to go fast enough that hydroplaning is a legitimate issue I have some beachfront property in Kansas to sell you
@@TheCammerhammer Its not so much hydroplaning its the slick tyre having no grip on wet surfaces like granite, can make for some really nasty falls speaking from experience. I bought a treaded hoosier tyre replacement for my onewheel, best decision I ever made especially for going offroad. Most serious onewheel riders will switch to treaded tyres pretty quick
There’s a lot that goes into it, you got the controller, the tyre, the battery...... uhh then you gotta make sure everything is just right.
These things don't have controllers
@@ClarkDroneFilms the motor controller
@@darrengriffith9680 ah right thanks
I'm 52 and ride mine everyday. My calves are getting huge, great leg workout.
Imagine how much stronger your calves would be with a $200 skateboard. And what you could do with the extra $1500. You could spend a month or two in SE Asia easy (I know because I work here), including the round trip flight.
@@earthknight60 if you own one of these, you're not pinching pennies bro.
As someone who works in manufacturing and assembly, its honestly even more interesting to see how things are done in a similar setting
Had mine for 3 months now
Have put 370 miles on my XR.
So much fun. So much freedom.
Is it weird that noticed a small continuity errors in the video
0:45 - Shirt is dirty, says "before I head in there..."
1:35 - Shirt no longer dirty. (thought maybe he cleaned up a bit before meeting the owner of the company)
18:33 - shirt is now dirty in the same exact fashion as the opening of the video.
Ok I want one... time to save up. I don't even skate anymore... ;)
Too bad Future Motion has gotten so anti-consumer. If Adam is a true maker he would condemn their actions!
Because of the expense of the one wheel this is something sadly I will never own in this lifetime. But thanks to Adam Savage I get to see what one surfer / skater looks like when he wakes up on his birthday and gets what he hoped for. Thanks Adam.
That was so awesome, they let you build your own, You Are "Special"!!!
Oh okay.
Now Adam needs to build a paramotor XD
Let's Freeze It Yes!! With a custom colour moster on it 😎
almost 2k miles on mine now
Any battery life degradation to speak of?
Yes but not very noticeable. I've had it serviced since then.
Awesome! Get it!
οὐτόπος he said 2k not 20
I've seen a few vids showing people putting treaded tyres with a rounded edge on their OneWheel. Less stable at low speed but a lot tighter turns etc. Looks a lot more fun.
Adam Savage, one of the most transparent and honest people on youtube
