I love how you guys seem to be able to just rethink and redo when challenges present themselves instead of letting it get to you keep up the great videos!
Because your staples don't have ringed shanks or ridges on the fingers, they will pull out of the wood. The easiest way to get wood to flex/bend, is to place relief cuts on the back side. Relief cuts are the same as the cuts placed in concrete. It relaxes the rigidity of the product being used. The same way you cut they panel to size to fit the cabnet, you multiples across the back of it. Almost the same concept as steaming the wood to flex, the relief cuts will make it so musch easier.
Thanks for keeping it real showing your mistakes. It looks a lot harder than some channels to make it look. I’m glad that you guys have such patience with each other. Have a good year.
Been watching since your very first episode. Production values have come a long way. Mostly I continue to watch because you guys keep it real and don't try to pretend like you know it all. So, Merry Christmas to you and have a happy New Year. See ya on the road!
Congratulations! As I am watching this the subscriber number shows 20K. You have earned this and I am super happy for you. It's been a pleasure watching you.
I love your videos! I just subscribed, even though I never miss any of them. I had even shared them on my facebook in the past. You two work really hard and should have a million subscribers at least. Your watch hours must be unreal? I love the humour and especially the smiles. This made my New Years Eve! Thanks.😀
Lolol, he definitely said it with those vibes. We've inserted that clip before but try not to overuse it mainly because of what was actually in the box 😬😬😬
You might want to think of anothe form of fastener than nails for your ceiling. When this trailer is in motion, those bails will start to back out. I promise you this. A good solution would becto glue/ liquid nails it along with the nails.
Paneling nails, what they used, are a ring shank nail and are a pain to remove. They will not back out like a normal nail. Working on old campers like this one, I see paneling nails all the time and I have the heads pop off or pull thru the paneling more often than I get them to come out cleanly.
Hello guys It's not always easy But in the end the result is better than you imagined You lurn from your mistakes Your on the right track , keep up the good work Have FUN and be SAFE
As always it's a pleasure to tune in and watch the latest developments. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and happy new year. Loved the maths bit, I'm glad it wasn't me working it out. Love to all 😊
Thoroughly enjoyed this! The video clips, the math figuring, the excellent way to cut a round piece! You make it look easy and fun! The cabinets and doors you made are awesome!
We were living in our RV, and while living in it, you realize just how much they are not designed for daily use. So, I was renovating as we were living in it. I actually built cabinets (pretty much just frames) out of poplar so that I could make them a custom depth to fit through the door. My husband kept trying to convince me to just buy prefab, but knowing they wouldn't fit through the door and I couldn't customize them to what we needed (I needed a desk since I work from home so the couch got taken out and a new set of shallow cabinets with an overhanging "counter top" was put in). I think that you probably would have been money ahead to cut the face frame off the cabinet (they're just glued and stapled on), which should have given you enough of an opening to be able to manhandle it through the doorway. Some brad nails and glue (and maybe some wood filler for hide the nails) and it would have been back to the same as before. The problem with cutting so much off the back is now the drawer isn't going to fit and the sink may not fit right either. We learn as we go and you guys are doing an awesome job so far. I would also recommend putting painters tape on the cabinet doors so you have a handle to open them back up until you get pulls on them. 😉
That cooler is nicer than those tiny fridges. With these at least you can have a decent size freeze. Etc etc…. 😁 This one isn’t losing faith in you, you guys do awesome work, like changing the lay out in the kitchen. Love how you make each other laugh, “ no one’s fault”. Happy New Year 🎉🎊
I enjoy watching y’all and learning as you go. My wife and I are older now and no longer go camping. We do rent an Airbnb wherever we want to go. If we were younger we’d definitely tow a Trail Manor behind our 23 Tacoma TRD Off Road, double cab pickup.
Thanks for another great and informative video! Can’t wait to see what the Holiday Rambler looks like when you’re done. Congratulations on almost 20,000 subscribers and can’t wait to see the video of the electric going to your garage. It’s been a long time coming. That will definitely help with filming and keeping warm.
We, as in you and your husband are with in 10 years of my age. I was in elementary school in Harper Woods during the entire 80's. Snow day!? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 We didn't even have sxhool buses! Never once in all of my years of education did I ever have a snow day! I used to almost roll my eyes when my kids had snow days 🤣🤣🤣 Happy early New Year to both of you along with your kids!❤️

Hey that kitchen is looking good! There’s always little things in campers that you have to adjust as you go along. But you figure it out and it’s looking awesome. You might need some sort of support under your microwave. I bet you can fix it if so. Doing a great job. Love the videos. By the way that is a great little trick on making the template for the upper cabinet.😇
We're going to run the supply line inside the cabinet over to the city water fill so we'll elbow into the cabinet the T over to the corner. Thanks so much for looking out for us!
Well looky there, the little channel that could has hit the 20k mark plus a few more!! These Michiganders are catching on and making it happen!! It's got to be the magic of the Maynerd's Cheese Curds!! Crazy how life always seems to get in the way of progress getting made, isn't it!! Though, even with real life and all its happenings, the old girl is looking good and the vision is coming together!! Working in Arctic temps with that little heater in that giant barn is also pretty impressive. Congrats on getting the electric hooked up!! That should be making a world of difference at this point. Happy New Year to the Retro crew!! Looking forward to seeing what the new year brings, and how many more new recruits show up to the channel.
Love you guys and the videos and if I'm ever in the "thumb" area I got lunch! I will try to not be a critic, but will sound like one regardless. I just think that for the effort, time, and cost on replacing the "crapper" and it's black tank, I just think you would've been better served with a portable compost unit, IF you needed it at all (no I don't sell them! Lol). That was the FIRST thing I removed from the big pop up Jayco I bought 25 years ago. It had the love seat that opened to a rudimentary toilet with ball valve mounted on a black tank. Gross. Fortunately it was never used by the previous owners and out it went. I also grew up in the U.P. so my camping began in tents in Natl Forest areas with outhouses only, food hung from trees, where the nearest fallen tree and a handful of leaves if we were out in the deep woods stream fishing sufficed for the "emergency dump". As I got older I "glamped" in state parks with full modern facilities, electricity, etc. Even Boondocking, I would rather have the most-important fresh water storage. In that scenario, a $25 pop up toilet/shower tent set away from the camper with the compost unit set inside is all one needs for that daily or bi-daily activity (yes, I know ladies are different but the compost unit forces even us boys to "feel your pain" as we have to sit down to use it too!) Lol No black tank to deal with pumping/dumping. I also took out the worthless sink and fresh tank, mounted a nice 120v air unit where the spare tire went, space heater for when it's chilly, etc. There was no gray tank, there was a tube that ran to right under the camper. I always camped close to the facilities and 30' from the nearest water spigot. I also removed the pull out gas stove, weak 12v fridge, etc and replaced them with storage and portable stuff for an outdoor kitchen set up under the awning. I'm a bit of a gourmand, and was a "camp fire, lots-of-beers guy", especially when camping! I needed pots, pans, seasonings, extra fridges, blenders for margaritas, toaster, microwave etc. Gray tanks can be dumped anywhere too! (no whining please from the environmentalists) In fact, next summer I'm going up north to help a buddy TAKE OUT the toilet/shower in his 22' permanent-location camper that is "off grid" so he can use it for storage & so we can remove enough cabinets for a new mini wood stove he wants to install. "Off grid" in this case means a generator, deep cycle marine battery, and a portable full lithium battery system with solar I'm building for him. Plus there's a nearby off grid hunting camp with a sauna he has full access to along with a rain water collection system for rinsing and generating sauna steam. He dug a hole and had a pre built outhouse that cost with delivery what a high end compost toilet costs (construction by himself would've been tough due to a Vet disability). A cup of lyme once a week down the hole and he's good for life! His "Shower" is a stainless steel pump/air pressurized tank "pee can" that is filled with warm water, although he "goes sauna" nearly every other day(that phrase must be spoken with a heavy U.P./Finnish accent incidentally, it's law lol). He only lives there 4-6 months when it's mostly "warm", but it IS the U.P. lol. Even growing up, even people who had big campers with toilets camping in the Natl Forest campgrounds with free amenities, NEVER used the toilets inside their campers, let alone allowing anyone else to use them! I know the compost units are a little expensive but my challenge to anyone doing a remodel like this or a box truck build, etc is to REALLY evaluate if you'll EVER crap in the camper based on your personal use/personality/etc! If it's a resale thing, "I'll even throw in a compost toilet if you buy it today" is a helluva good "closer"! A Class A, Super C, yeah, you're driving it down the road, wife needs to pee, sure, BUT there you have a macerator, bacteria additives, etc. I think most people don't want others hearing them, even their spouses, when doing a full "colon blow" after taco night or my fall-camping jambalaya & chili! Lol. Not to mention stinking up all 160 ft² of the camper for 2-3 hours! Compost toilet "kits" are cheaper too. Full DIY units are actually easy to make with a toilet seat, a Menards bucket, heavy bags, and animal bedding. And dumping THAT bag is just as gross, maybe even less gross than dumping and flushing a black tank or even dumping a "diaper genie" (Ask any guy who makes a living pumping black tanks for people who camp all summer and don't have a dump trolley to take to the sanitary station!) I love the fun you guys have succeeding and failing though, it would have led to much quicker divorces for me had I had either of those wives help lol!
20,1 abonnees, januari 1 7,30 in the morning ! happy new year, & congratulations, from my view,, (stil dark 😉 outside) this retro holyday rambler gonna be great inside (to) thanks for the video, all the best
Spray foam has a lot of pros but there are cons as well. It's very messy if you're not careful. Over spray is a thing. It can get out of hand very fast on you.
We clicked to start this video as an "Instant Premiere." We had never done that before but it does start you "live" with the first broadcast which is kind of crazy. It looks like the idea is there's a live chat where people can watch together and chat. So... moral of the story is that maybe we should have scheduled the premiere in advance instead of instant premiere if we wanted to do it that way. We're still learning!
I was worried about the cabinets. Hope the fix works. The drawers are what I'm concerned but closing all the way... good luck. Looks like fancy new microphones....
The drawer works like a charm! Good eye on the microphones, they (supposedly) can accept input from 4 at a time which will come in handy when the kids are helping out.
Very nice jobs guys it will look awesome once your done 🫢 hahaha happy news years to you all best wishes and beautiful memories and advancers in 2025 🙏…Kev c
I love how you guys seem to be able to just rethink and redo when challenges present themselves instead of letting it get to you keep up the great videos!
We're learning a lot along the way, thanks for the support!
Some critics MUST have it perfect. Not me. You guys are my types.....learn as you go. As real as it gets. Don't change!
Thanks so much!
Can't even imagine how much time it would take to write a script and reshoot everything that doesn't turn out perfectly 😵💫😵💫
Because your staples don't have ringed shanks or ridges on the fingers, they will pull out of the wood.

Eccentric! I learned something new today! Wahooooo!
We should have thought of relief cuts!
Thanks for keeping it real showing your mistakes. It looks a lot harder than some channels to make it look. I’m glad that you guys have such patience with each other. Have a good year.
We appreciate that! Thanks for your support!
Yeah those others just video when it goes right n turn off till they get it right😁. Just kidding but I agree I like it best when you put it all in.
😂 Its warmer in the fridge then in the barn right now 😂😂 you 2 are so funny!!
😂😂😂 It's funny because it's true, lol.
Been watching since your very first episode. Production values have come a long way. Mostly I continue to watch because you guys keep it real and don't try to pretend like you know it all. So, Merry Christmas to you and have a happy New Year. See ya on the road!

Happy New Year
We appreciate it! Happy New Year to you too!
Your camera work was fabulous on the kitchen take down. Loved the look never seen that before. Happy new year. 🎉
We appreciate that! We try to keep it interesting for you 😁😁
Was it just me, or did anybody else smile when he said "What's in the box". LOL 7 vibes.
Every time someone says that, I have to say it again with the voice. One of the biggest cinematic twists of all time.
Lolol, he definitely said it with those vibes. We've inserted that clip before but try not to overuse it mainly because of what was actually in the box 😬😬😬
The hacksaw Jim Duggan....lol
😂😂
Congratulations on 20K 🎉
Thank you! 🥳
None of us could learn one thing without mistakes, and you guys, did make the wrong right again, , 👍
Thanks for the kind words! 😊
For future reference, painters tape tabs stuck to the inside and outside of the door make for a good temporary handle.
We'll definitely keep that in mind. Thanks for watching!
Woohoo! News years eve vids!
Happy new year! 🎊
You guys make me laugh when you do something and you’re surprised and like”wow that worked” 😂
Haha, this comment is great! Never thought of it that way but it's totally true. Too funny 🤣
Was so excited to see you back after the holiday.
Thank you! 😁😁
I like the animated demo of the kitchen
Thanks! Learning a bit more with each video about editing 👍🏼👍🏼

Love to all 😊
We appreciate you tuning in, happy new year to you too! Fractions are always the most fun 😂
I think this was my most fav Video yet watching you to make that upper cabinet bending that panel!! I love watching you guys do what you do!!
Thanks so much!
Kitchen looking good
Thanks so much!

The more you know. Eccentric
Did you know that definition already for eccentric?
Y'all always make me smile!!!
Thanks so much 😊😊
In bathrooms and areas where there will be water, I’d recommend using Foam Board.
Good idea! We'll keep that in mind for future projects especially if we include a shower.
20K woop woop! Congratulations!!! Have a wonderful new year!!!
Thank you so much! We appreciate it! 😁
Thanks for another great and informative video! Can’t wait to see what the Holiday Rambler looks like when you’re done. We, as in you and your husband are with in 10 years of my age.
I was in elementary school in Harper Woods during the entire 80's. Snow day!?

We didn't even have sxhool buses!
Never once in all of my years of education did I ever have a snow day!
I used to almost roll my eyes when my kids had snow days 🤣🤣🤣
Happy early New Year to both of you along with your kids!❤️
Seems like they have a handful each year... usually when the back (dirt) roads are icy. We don't remember having many growing up either.
You guys are amazing. I love this stuff.
Thanks so much!
See y’all in two weeks 👋😂
🤗🤗
Rewatching this video. Really loved the black/white colorized effects when y’all were tearing out the kitchen framing.
We built out a cargo trailer last spring. We had to rework a few things. But we love it now. Just found your channel.
We're glad you found our channel! Hope you enjoy our videos.
That's a really super nice overhead cabinet you guys built. You matched the curved roof perfectly. Sturdy, and it looks better than a factory cabinet. I really like the new kitchen layout. Happy New Year!🙂🇨🇦
We really appreciate the comment, thank you! 😁
Oh we will hang in with you! Love your channel, rooting for 2000🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 with you. Happy New Year Retro Friends😊

hello guys i have missed seeing yall
Hello 👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼
Happy New Year! Glad you are back! It is looking good!
Thanks, Cindy, nice to hear from you!
Yes I was noticing the same thing. Should have been a T fitting where you cut the blue supply line.
We're going to run the supply line inside the cabinet over to the city water fill so we'll elbow into the cabinet the T over to the corner. Thanks so much for looking out for us!
Awesome work you should use some straps to Pull a plywood down
Thanks, that's a great idea!
Happy New Year!!! much Love from Nova Scotia
Happy New Year to you too! Stay warm up there 😁

You sure look like pocket hole professionals
Thanks! We might have to update our kreg jig game at some point. They make some fancy jigs now for pocket holes.
At 24:54, behind your elbow are two masks, thought it was a bra at first!!!!!! LOL!!!!!
Haha, we should hide little Easter eggs in different scenes like that 😂

Spray foam has a lot of pros but there are cons as well. It's very messy if you're not careful. Over spray is a thing. It can get out of hand very fast on you.
Now it's not me but if it were me I would have glued that panel and screwed it down as you bent it over that curve.
We're assuming it definitely would have gotten out of hand 😂
We would have liked to but our glue is all frozen 🥶

Shouldn’t you have those water lines inside the insulation to prevent any freezing and help with hot water in cooler temperatures?
When it's all said and done, they will all be on the inside of the insulation. Thanks for looking out for us!
I was wondering why you don't put in a different black tank?? For your toilet?
We like to re-use what we have when we can. We're hoping for the best. It should work fine😁
Happy new year 2025
Happy new year! 🎊
did you remember to block the cold water supply in the corner when you cut the supply line off the city water
Yes, we put a cap on it... still need to reconnect it to the could water lines. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Your video started directly at the end!
Then when you rewind it starts with strangevmusic and a 1:38 countdown?
We clicked to start this video as an "Instant Premiere." We had never done that before but it does start you "live" with the first broadcast which is kind of crazy. It looks like the idea is there's a live chat where people can watch together and chat. So... moral of the story is that maybe we should have scheduled the premiere in advance instead of instant premiere if we wanted to do it that way. We're still learning!
Hint time; there are built in clamps on that table saw, to hold the wood!
We like to live on the edge 😁

Is there such a thing? That would be amazing!

Thank you 😊😊
Love your sense of humor, who put the dumb and dumber snip it in there?😂😂😂
Lol, that 2 second clip took way too long to edit in! 😂😂 Glad you appreciated it 🙌🏼

Where is your safety glasses, and your hardhat? LMAO just kidding.
😂
I was worried about the cabinets. Hope the fix works. The drawers are what I'm concerned but closing all the way... good luck. Looks like fancy new microphones....
The drawer works like a charm! Good eye on the microphones, they (supposedly) can accept input from 4 at a time which will come in handy when the kids are helping out.
Happy New Year --- 2025 1230am pac time
Happy New Year to you too!
Why you use the drill sometimes to set screws and then the impact on others stresses me out
😂😂😂 It's usually whatever tool has the battery in it that gets used.
❤️❤️❤️
No measurements no plan... what could go wrong....
Seriously?!? Everything would have gone a lot smoother (probably) with a little more planning on this one 😜
