Full Renovation - Vintage Camper RV | Start to Finish - Part 1 (DIY Before & After)

- This video starts with the beginning of our journey renovating our 47-year-old retro RV. This vintage motorhome was in pretty bad shape when we bought it. Follow along as we transform this tiny home on wheels with a full DIY makeover from start to finish.
We grabbed clips from the full-length videos that we have released so far and added some additional commentary along the way. As an added bonus, we included a tiny bit of our camping trip up to Young State Park in Boyne City, MI.

We are New Zealanders and bought an '89 Ford camper in California 10 years ago. At $4500 it was cheap but we love it! Next month we return for the 10th anniversary and she's still going strong. The rvs of this era are so well built and despite the gas consumption we are extremely happy

I can’t believe you are wearing an “Ole’s Big Game Bar and Grill” from Paxton Nebraska! My husband stopped there in 1973 when he got home from Viet Nam and when I met him he did nothing but talk about Ole’s. We finally got there together in 2005. What an experience! We bought T shirts for many of our friends and family but I had never seen one any place else until your video.
I am from Nebraska and I have not seen anyone wear an Ole"s shirt either, I visited Ole's as a kid in 1985.
I just purchased a 1978 Winnebago from my father. Still had plastic on the carpet on the inside!! I’ve been renovating and you guys keep me motivated!!

As a former RV repairer I can tell you that you will hate having an all white interior. especially with children around it will be getting dirty all the time. That being said, I think you're doing a very descent job with your rebuild. Much better than most of the people I see try this!

I would re-letter on the back. Maybe you can use a Cricut cutting machine or find a company that could cut you a decal, if you don’t want to hand paint it using the old letters that you pealed off to make a stencil. On another note, I hope that you used styrofoam pink insulation, or the spray foam type. You’ve had enough evidence of what fibreglass insulation does when it encounters liquid, it becomes a sponge, whereas the styrofoam or spray foam type does not, water or liquid will run right off of it. Also insulation does a great job in terms of sound proofing as well as keeping heat contained on cold days and repelling heat on hot days, so your a/c and heat pump won’t need to work as hard. I am only 10 minutes in and I am really enjoying the video, I can hardly wait to watch them all. 😊👏🏼✨🇨🇦
I’m up for the challenge of renovating an RV after spending an hour at Camping World. Yuck! Besides that, you two are the coolest & have a relaxing delivery. Love your vids & personalities! 😃🌺🇺🇸

I had never seen your videos before and I’ve been thinking about renovating an RV. I think I could do much of it myself however, you having such an incredible life certainly makes it so much easier. GREAT RENOVATION SHOULD DAVE USED PRESSURE. TREATED LUMBER FOR FRAMING
@@user-ht1xu4gv2u using pressure treated lumber on some thing that is not going to be exposed to the elements and will be sealed within a wall makes no sense at all, as well as releasing the chemicals into the air of a closed in space. Treated lumber would be the last thing I would ever use for framing.
Agreed, that's why we didn't go with it. Plus, it's so much heavier!
Treated lumber cannot be in contact with aluminum either as it will cause corrosion.

You all have done so much to that camper and it's really coming together great job. I have to admit that I had my daults about it at the beginning especially the nasty bathroom but you guys did a great job. That was a lot of work I did miss a couple because of health problems but I think the health problems are not going to end very soon. But at least know I can get back to watching videos. Thanks, Randy! We might need some Holiday Rambler parts! We haven't really developed a plan for it yet but are hoping to tackle the exterior before winter. We'll definitely message you when we know what we need. Right now, the only thing we know for sure is a fender skirt on one side (tandem).

Great job guys. That was a ton of work, but you have transformed that RV.
It's still a work in progress but it's getting there! Stay tuned to see if it all comes together. We're kind of curious ourselves at this point, lol.

So I've been looking at building a campervan so I think that's why your guys's channel was recommended to me. Love the video and you got yourself a new subscriber. Also the bathroom transformation was absolutely insane. You always have that one room that you renovate that comes out the best and I got to say for you guys and that project gets the bathroom.

The paint you used for the bathroom walls I used white to cover a red clawfoot tub. It covered that red in only one coat! Great stuff.

Used to go elk hunting in the orange model in Gunnison Colorado your video brings back memories lol this was back in the 70s so our model was minus the poop and hair . I still see a few of the old dodges still on the road can’t wait for future build outs you both are great together

Hi not sure if it went through I would suggest flush king to clean out your black tank it really works. You can even use if you get a clog well worth the money.

Hello Camper family. I purchased a vintage travel trailer a couple of years ago. I am still trying to figure out how to get some stuff fixed. I really don't know what I'm doing.
