You should give cars a Wizard score. Categories like reliability, repairability, parts availability, relative part cost, how well it holds up with age, how good of an idea does Tyler think it is to buy one(lower numbers better on this one), and so on.

and have it similar to iFixit's scale of being 0 to 5, with 0 being you have to crawl to a dealership for every little repair and maintenance item (the majority of Teslas would fall into this category) and 5 being you can go to anywhere in the country at any time, and you can either find a shop to fix it, or the manufacturer has made special tools and service literature available to repair it yourself.

In san diego theres a classic corvette dealership that I love. when I was 16 I took my fresh license over there just to look at the cars and the owner let me take a black 1980 corvette out for a test drive! I remember thinking the windshield felt SO narrow, like looking out of a tank! He let me take it to almost 100, and back to his shop. one of the best experiences of my young carloving life :D Im saving up for a C6 right now

I've always had a great affection for the C3. I'm from England, but had relatives over in Canada. We first went over for a family vacation in, i think, the summer of '86, and i clearly remember, on the journey back to Kingston from Toronto airport, the first time i laid eyes on a Corvette, and it was a black C3. I was instantly smitten, and thought it was one of the coolest cars i'd ever seen. They were still everywhere back then, as they'd only been out of production for around four years, and each time i saw one during that vacation, i'd just stare at it in awe and listen to that fantastic exhaust note. Obviously, back here in England, at that time, we didn't really have anything that sounded like or looked like a 'Vette!

On a crossfire corvette you can get great gains in power if you swap out the intake & tbi units for the truck tbi unit. Use a good dual plane intake with an adapter or get a holley tbi intake. You need to bump the fuel pressure too. The nice thing about this swap is you don't have to do wiring, all the connectors are the same and the ecm runs the truck tbi just fine. The crossfire had a restrictive intake and the trucks had heads wth extremely restrictive intake ports.

Ignore these critics. Style is exclusively about personal preferences. Those who criticize styling are not qualified to make negative comments. I love Corvette styling and most of its critics have never driven or owned any Corvette too. Most are jealous and envious or anything they dislike. This particular beauty is the final of the Mako Shark influence. These can be had for very little and are easily modified for improved performance when desired.

I was 16 years old in 1982 and my best friend's dad had a '78 Silver Anniversary Corvette with the L-82 350 slightly warmed over. That car was a blast to drive and when he tossed me the keys one day and told us to take it for a drive that was the best day of my life at that point. He was very specific if I wrecked it I was in deep trouble, so I drove it like my Grandma would have. Good times!!

They were just difficult to make repairs to because they were usually shoehorned into the engine bays and you had to either move the engine from one side to the other to do anything to them or take the car apart around the engine just to access bad components. I know the Ferrari was considerably more expensive but when you’ve got room under the bonnet (hood) for 5.7 litres you really ought to be putting out 300+bhp and bucketfuls of torque.

I had a '69. The best of that time to me. It was 1/2 " wider than the 68, I appreciated that as I was a tight fit as it was. I loved the chrome front and rear bumpers and the removable rear glass and t-tops. Mine had dealer installed headers and side pipes and was factory built as a 1/8 mile drag car. It came from the factory with 11.5:1 compression ( it had a plaque on the shifter ) and had the heads decked for 12.5:1 compression. I had to run 93 octane and 1 gallon of race gas to keep it form knocking. It had a 4 speed with a very heavy kevlar type clutch and I could do a burnout in 4th gear from a standstill. 5.? rear end and topped out at 107-108 mph at redline. I got 6-8 mpg max. I sold it to get a new 1994 Vette and quickly fell in love with the 94.

Joe Mazzola That actually sat exactly on a 67 (C2) frame. The new nose kept it from becoming airborne at 110, although they handled so bad every time you hear a story about someone going fast in any C3 it’s a story about a wreck. Not so the C2. Probably because it had less fat and overhang in my opinion, although they might have also changed demographics. Most C2’s did not have power steering and tended to be bought by more serious drivers. The 68 was rushed into production and a lot of subtle changes were made in 69. The trap door wipers were there to keep anyone dumb enough to try from being able to drive it in freezing weather I think.

The problem with the cross fire is the egr cross over cracks - then it doesn't run at all (thus the name cease-fire). You can make them run, first you plug the egr cross over, mill the egr tube out, port the intake.... then you'll have a 300 hp motor at the same price as a 500 hp LS. Also, the tank.... they have a liner.... so 'corrosion' could also be the dark liner.

I was always a big fan of the 1988 35th anniversary edition. You could get them with a manual. I like the C6 ZR1 as well. I have an 05 6spd coupe.

That brown faded decal is supposed to be on the hood, too. Like down each side... Not white!

Please consider all the tightening government emission regulations that were placed on the 1970 - 1980 cars produced in America. It took the manufacturers many more years to bring back American Muscle performance. Too many criticize the past cars without using the proper time context. This Corvette was still faster than most cars in its day.

You should have showed everyone what the throttle bodies look like when it’s running. That’s half the fun is watching the fuel spray especially on camera

I had a brand new 81 corvette and yes it was slow but get confused. At the Dairy Queen or car wash it was a chick magnet. Mine had the red leather interior. It had an amazing effect on the girls!

Would be cool to see you take on a budget performance build. Something like a c/k obs 350 chevy with TBI. With out changing over to carb. I know u have to keep the money rolling in but would b cool to see
    Some power upgrades that work

wow that's a nice looking vette for being an '82. didn't know it only came in auto that year. i remember growing up in the 90's and looking at pictures of corvettes and other sports cars from the 80's. I had no idea when I was that young that the interiors were so bad. It's like fast cars in the 80's were built more to be seen by others than to actually be driven.

jordanimated streaming If I recall the California cars and all Collector Editions were slushbox only. All others could have a four speed.

The big hood decal is missing. It fades from dark grey to light gray like the side decals.

My favorite year of Corvette is the 1967 Stingray coupe with the rear split window. Such a lovely looking car. Also stupid expensive if you try buying one. But that's what car posters are for am I right? :)

Slane583 the split window coupe was in 1963 only. 1964 through 1967 coupes had a one-piece rear glass.

QUESTION PLEASE : Is the C3 the basis for the "kit" Ferrari Daytona used in Miami Vice ?

Yes it was based off a C3. Good catch.

_Back in '82, the 'Collector Edition' was something really special, and the most expensive C3 model at the time. Yes the car looks really dated today, but the last few years this car's value has been steadily rising. Seems like the '82 is the least desirable third gen., that is unless it's in 'Collector Edition' guise. Great video Wizard!_

My 80 & 81 had a Plastic Gas Tank. Was the 82 metal??? 200hp was a lot in 82. One problem with that as you know was the car weighed so much that the weight to HP ratio made it "sluggish" and the fact that Chevy didn't want to pay the price it's supplier of Manual Transmissions wanted(Must have threatened to cut into the 100% profit they made on the car since 73) so that's why there was only automatics.
