I remember the exact moment when I heard them on the radio for the first time. I am an educator and I was driving a minivan, taking everyone back to the day care center. My colleague was on the passenger seat - we've got the same taste in music- and we were having a conversation and everyone else was talking lively. The radio was on in the background. And that's when I heard the first notes of Sometime around midnight. We both reached for the radio at exactly the same time to increase the volume; "Wow, what is this?!" . From that moment on they've been one of my most favorite bands. They are absolutely grandiose.
That's funny, I first found them through Sometime Around Midnight driving home from work. I'd heard the name because someone laughed that Gasoline would be on Guitar Hero when they edit other songs because of the content, but hadn't heard them. I heard this and came home and immediately found them online for my wife to hear. Now, COVID willing, we get to see them in a couple months here.
@@ianjohn2648 I got 2 free tickets to see em about 10 years ago, but they were for the next day and none of my friends could go so I asked my mom if she was interested, and nearly got a papercut she grabbed em so fast. helluva show
Hands down they are my favorite band of all time. They never disappoint and their live shows are beyond fantastic. I can’t wait to see them live next year.
Tate is one of the most unique blended genres of music types rock & classical as well as the lead singers beautiful flow and use of the English language ❤ these guys!!
The section beginning with “And your mothers she’s calling” is genuinely heartbreaking. Hit me like a brick wall the first time I heard it. Such a powerful song, thank you TATE :)
If i told myself when I was 11 years old when I had the self titled on repeat that id still be bumping yall when i was 23 he would be so fucking psyched. cant wait to see them live after all this shit
Este disco ha sido un respiro y un aliciente para este año tan horrible. Me encanta su música y son mi banda favorita. Estoy encantado con su regreso. ❤️ Ojalá puedan regresar a México...
I love it better when they preform the songs. It isn’t “perfect” like a recording but the rawness it felt, the energy is more intense…especially towards the end.
I tend to think the world is more brainwashed than ever from thinking independantly even on good things like youtube comments so i liked and instead of just doing that here's a comment.
Missed you guys so much! Love the album, love the book! Kills me that I can't come see you in person. Can't wait to see you when the SF Symphony show is rescheduled.
They are like nothing you've ever seen Live. Their shows are a berserk, foot-stomping rock and roll hoedown that shakes you from the rafters to your bones. And Mikel is as beautiful and kind as we all suspected he is. 🥰 Seeing them again at House of Blues Cleveland in October, 2 days before my 51st Birthday and thanking my ever-loving stars and the fates for this one. I wasn't sure how much longer I could do whatever tf this is without seeing the beautiful creatures responsible for the words & music that keep me here and hopeful. They are magic. You will be a different human by the encore. See them if you can. Difficult times require furious dancing. 🤟
As a tate fan from the spaceland residency days this is a deeply difficult track to hear... honestly it might actually be abjectly terrible. I suppose 2020 is a bizarre and unprecedented time, but Mikel, brother, if you see this, call Anna, go over to Noah's in exp, open a bottle of bourbon, and talk about all the things music can and should be. Grin at randyland, play a cover of Come on Eileen and have a beer. Maybe start by reminiscing about bombast and move on to reflecting about all I ever wanted from Disney Concert Hall and songs of god and whiskey... Whatever you do, I would humbly suggest that you deeply reevaluate the musical direction that produced this song. You're a lot better than this.
Wow - that’s pretty harsh - did you read the book? Understand the influences at play here? Realize the implication that he has to reinvent himself and his band...I’m definitely not a rolling stone rock critic but this shit sounds pretty damn good to me, the meaning is there, and the 80’s U2/Depeche Mode/Cure vibe is all present. How many times have you reinvented yourself? It ain’t easy, but this is good stuff.
Really one of the best bands out there ❤
It's now 2024 oct 26. Love this song!
