I'm not trying to hate at all--this is just my opinion--but when this bridge happened, I thought it was one of the most disjointed transitionsI've ever heard in music. I woke up with "Sometime Around Midnight" in my head this morning (I very often hear music in my dreams/ethereal realm and will often have the song in my head in when I wake up). So this morning I was listening to some of Airborne's music. When I heard that transition, it was jarring.

Reading "Hollywood Park". Mikel Jollett's book writing is as good as his song writing.
That seems to track. The lead singer of The Decemberists is apparently also a really good author.
Before he became a singer song writer he wrote Sci-Fi novels.
Just bought the book a few days ago, but I haven’t had the chance to start it yet because of work, but I cannot wait to.
That book is amazing. It stands alone as a piece of good literature for fans and non fans alike. It's one of the only books that made me cry as an adult (I sobbed at the ending of Charlotte's Web when I was younger)
So stoked to see you guys are still making music I remember hearing you guys for the first time 7 or 8 years ago back when I was in highschool now I just turned 22 a few days ago. Your guys music has been such an inspiration to me all these years I hope you guys never stop the good work

This song dropped on April 1, 2020. I will never forget that combined with the band name and song title.
First time I heard this song was on the radio, leaving a nursing shift late. We had just transferred our first pregnant COVID+ patient to ICU - she was sick as hell. This song snapped me out of the daze that had overtaken me as I drove home and became a place of solace for me during the hardest days of the pandemic.
I remember first hearing this band in middle school and i always would listen at school and home non stop and for some reason i stopped listening and i saw the notification for this and holy shit man.
Ok.. I don't think a music video has made me cry before this one! I guess knowing it's a true story and the embracing "yourself" at the end got me! Love you guys❤
3 weeks of quarantine and social distancing amplified how desperately we all need to be loved and touched... What a powerful ending. Well done to my favorite band. Excuse me while I put this on repeat ❤️
Those last moments of the song with the vocals layering on top of one another just make this song finish off so endearingly. Its almost brutal how it ends so suddenly
It's a really great song, lots of depth. The "break my fall" part will hit the soul of anyone struggling, especially after listening maybe half a dozen times. I feel like the video doesn't do the song justice, though.
Sometimes art may not speak to us individually, as someone who came from a severely broken home the video hits me hard.
This is a song that for a few minutes makes everything ok even though it's not. A rare and precious gift. Its beautiful. Thank you.

I like the guitar breakdowns the most. Can't feel this as much as I do to Innocence, wishing well, the way home, or sometime around midnight.

Wow. I thought this was a party song when I first heard it but “come on, out with it”- beckoning the trauma that’s remained unspoken and buried to finally come to the light, something we all have to do for our inner child at some point. Beautiful song and video.

I tried to get those tickets from her but she said no..... fast forward 10 plus years, my husband and i are bringing our daughter to her first airborn concert when you come to upsate new york. Hollywood Park is spectacular. And combined with this music - oh my gods. I hadn't heard Mikel's music before I started reading Hollywood Park, so I didn't know what to expect. But I've been so happy to hear it now and know that he is true to his deepest self, expressing it in music as well as he does in his writing.

Gen X guy who heard this sound played out in the late 80s...J&MC, Psychedelic Furs, Joy Division (late 70s early 80s) The Mighty Lemon Drops, Love and Rockets...so on and so forth. Bands end up sounding like their influences...but this is straight up late 80s J&MC.

This is definitely inspired by “Hollywood Park.” It has an modem-80’s feel, like “The Weekend’s Blinding Lights” has a resurgence of the 80’s type sounds. I love the acoustic version of this song.

I've had the book for months but too many distractions kept me from finishing it. Now that those distractions are gone, and I just finished chapter 22, I had to rewatch this video. The lyrics echoing the book, the video symbolizing the pain I too felt growing up and some of the same trials I experienced as a kid, now knowing that my way out was there when I was 14.
The ending gets me every time.
Reminds me of The Psychedelic Furs for some reason and that's a great thing.
