Pond fishing. So simple, so satisfying, so fun. I have a Jon boat but pond fishing and bank fishing is just so much simpler when life is busy with family/kids and you don't have hours to spend on the water. Love the vid.

I got a work permit at 14 and bought a scamp setup end of the year. At 16 bought a 16’ flat bottom gas and trolling motor and had 21 different rod reel combos and 4 tackle boxes. Wish I was still that dedicated 😑

Bro!! I've been fishing off and on my entire life. Definitely not a pro and everything I've learned has been trial and error. This cat made everything so simple to understand. A lot of pro's use confusing fishing jargon that leaves me more confused than when I started. Thank you🎉 Brother!

Dude....Im telling ya, try the keitech topwater. Rigged the way you have it with or ideally without the blade. My go to hook is the vmc drop dead eighth ounce for the 4.8. Sometimes they go nuts for a bit more subtle topwater....and you can do a sort of 'sub-surface topwater" where youre just barelyt breaking the surface. Drives em nuts. Plus....you can drop it down deep. Caught a hog a couple weeks ago that way...came topwater through some sticks, then dropped it deep as soon as I came past them. Smashed it!
And big thanks for not leaving us shore bound pond guys out!!!!!

I'd go so far as to step up to the 4.3 or the 4.8 inch one like Tim said. I've caught surprisingly small bass on it. It's amazing what even those smaller fish will lash out at and try to eat.
Even if your fish aren't that big, the 4.3/4.8 catches better fish overall.

Something a little under the radar that you might like to try also.. especially if you have some really mucky bottom ponds that baits get sucked into. Tokyo rig. The bait sits on top of grass and muck.. I love a brush hog/baby brush hog or a PitBoss style bait for ponds. Killed it with the Tokyo Rig last spring for me and caught a couple in March this year before my state closed my fishing spots.

Cought 32 Saturday biggest was 3.5lbs
Cought 40 Tuesday in the same pond biggest was 2 3/4lbs. Watched about 8 guys total between the two days maybe land 4-8 fish. It's not always about Senkos, Jigs and using everything everybody does. I used a finesse underspin and my favorite drop shot bait from a small company on the east coast. Slayed the local Sonoma county ponds 😎

As a twelve year-old my younger brother, neighborhood friends and I had access to the local spring water company's retention reservoir. We kiddies didn't know what we were privileged to have. "The Reservoir", or the Rez, had largemouth bass, bluegills and shiners in abundance. In the windward corner there was a pile of leaves that'd been composting for decades. Under the leaves in the rich, loamy soil were the fattest, most active yet delicate nightcrawler-sized worms any of us had ever seen in our then-short lives. Gently putting one of those wriggling, fat worms on an Eagle Claw factory-tied, snelled hook practically guaranteed a hook-up with a bass that had an interest in self-preservation so they'd fight like crazy.
Once I caught a fat six inch shiner and threw it in the Rez to see what I could catch. A largemouth bass of considerable size, I can still see it in my mind's eye, came up from the depths to inhale that shiner, _sideways_ . My light tackle was nowhere near a match for this huge fish. With a sound like a .22 going-off right next to my ear the bass had broken my 6 lb. test Berkley Trilene and disappeared.
We didn't know what we had. By age thirteen or so we chose to pursue stocked trout in a creek on the other side of town. We'd all but forgotten the Rez. In between our catching all of the stocked rainbow and brown trout in our favored two-mile stretch of the creek we found that there was a native population of smallmouth bass that enthusiastically chased our C.P. Swing spinning lures. My younger brother, easily a better natural fisherman than me, regularly brought eighteen and twenty-inch smallmouth bass to his net. I caught some myself occasionally.
In May of 1987, just as my wife and I were about to make settlement on our new home, I fished the creek using a #2 Mepps Black Fury. I hooked a 12" smallmouth and this fish, for some reason, was in an absolute panic as I sought to bring it in. When my fish was five feet or so away I saw what had caused it to be so animated. A huge smallmouth, I won't even try to estimate its enormous size, was right behind my little bass. That pursuing smallmouth had eyes the size of 50 cent pieces and we looked at each other for a millisecond before it turned 180° to get back to safety. Then came a period where I didn't fish in that spot for over twenty-five years. When I visited it again in 2015 the effects of high water and erosion had made some spots unrecognizable. I reflected on it all, reflected on my nearly fifty years of fishing my local waters where untold mysteries still waited to present themselves.

Watch all your video's, fished a 2 day tournament last weekend at Lake Kissimmee and threw the flashy swimmer with a keitech all day and every fish we caught that weekend was on that bait. Tried the largo shad and found that I was getting a lot of strikes but I think the plastic was harder and fish weren't grabbing it and holding onto it like they did the keitch's. Tried the Largo shad on the flashy swimmer couldn't throw it on the other underspin you guys always suggest cause of the vegetation in the lake and it would constatnly get hung up throwing it thru the grass. My local lake that I fish almost every night is covered with vegetation and this is the only bait I seem to get them to hit on. Tried a frog and have not had any luck. Cant wait for it to die off so it clears up my fishing spot so I can get in there and starting getting those big ones again.

Sometimes advanced anglers forget pond anglers don’t have the desire or the funds to afford things you take for granted. Carrying an armada of tackle is not necessary or efficient fishing ponds. The most fun fishing ponds provide is simplicity of fishing for fish in a small body of water. Spending $ 20 dollars for a lure is not on the list of any pond anglers list of needs. Fish in small ponds tend to be small on average so lure choice makes small sizes best. Berkley Beetle Spins range from a dollar two a little more and come in sizes from 1/32 oz. to 1/4 oz. and make perfect pond lures. Soft plastic ribbon tail worms from 4 to 7½-inches fished weightless, add a pack of Tru-Turn worm hooks and you spent $6 dollars. Add a couple 5/16th Scum Frogs and you spent $7 dollars more, the total is about 20-dollars. Add some fishing pliers, line cutter, rubber boots, net and one pole; rod and reel, done. Finger nail clippers make good line cutters, needle nose pliers are easy to find in any home as well as rubber boots. You can find a rod combo for under $50 dollars if you search, a pack rod model is perfect. All totaled you only need less than $100 dollars to fish. You can carry everything in you bought in pair of cargo pants and shirt with big pockets. You can catch more fish using one rod than trying to drag a bunch of rods around you don’t need fishing ponds.

No crankbaits? A Bandit 100 and a Scatter Rap are two of my favorite lures to use from shore. They're small enough to get bit by smaller bass or crappie but still get plenty of bigger bites. Two other good baits for ponds are the Rebel Crickhopper Popper and the original Crickhopper. You can twitch them near grassy shorelines or overhanging trees and catch everything from bluegills to monster bass.

Hey guys, quick question about a pond i fish. To set the scene This pond is a 50-60 acre pond located in michigan. It is a gravel pit, very deep, and around 20 to 30 feet at the max. It drops off right at the bank. It is loaded with 1-3 lb bass and has a few giants. I mean giants for Michigan, i caught a 6 lber and lost one that was probably 8 on a bed. Our best luck is on a senko, dirty jigs finesse jig, and a jack hammer. Also it has 15 foot vis. We have has multiple encounters with giants and they are not interested at all. What would you recommend i use?? Also i dont think its the line. I use 6 lb leader on my spinning rod and 12 lb leader on my casting. Thanks.

In muddy water i use either black and blue or something bright like a chartreuse and white. Just remember dirty water you want bright colors so fish can see it, minus the black and blue. Idk why but black and blue is good for muddy water. For clear water use natural colors

I certainly miss fishing ponds with no pressure! As a kid I got to fish a lot of farm ponds and other ponds that people just didn’t know about or didn’t care to fish. Now that I live around the city it’s hard to find a pond with bass that isn’t pressured! Especially since everyone has all of the sudden started fishing for the first time since they were kids because they’ve got nothing to do with this coronavirus craziness. Everywhere I go I see people running around with Walmart zebco combos using the weak 8lb line that comes spooled on them combined with bad knots and wondering why they keep breaking off just on the grass! There’s line everywhere and nobody picks up their mess. I’m quite frustrated with these corona fishermen disrespecting the places they’re fishing if you couldn’t tell lol.

Having a lot of trouble in our pond/lake due to snot grass. Its on top, suspended, and on the bottom of the lake. So frustrating!

Quick question what do you consider shallow or deep pond? What changes a pond to a lake ? Larger surface area?

What colors do you prefer when a pond has only bass and garlic. I would think you would choose white or green or chartreuse but I don't know.

Ponds in Minnesota are considered lakes. Even Mille lacs is the big pond

When fishing in a pond line tends to get a bit dirty especially if using mono or fluoro should I clean it and what’s the best way too?

I fished a pond today, with which I’m very familiar. I did not try top water. They have never achieved anything on this water. Tried all your others. Caught fish only on a swim bait Texas rigged and on a creature bait Texas rigged. The twist was my favorite creature bait in blue black caught nothing for a second straight day. I switched back to the green pumpkin I had been saving, and that I usually use, and caught a nice one on the second cast. The water was chocolate.
