@@Flukemaster dude, your videos are awesome. I'm just now starting to get back into fishing after some time away from it. @@FortressCube Well, thank God. You say you’re from California, and y’all like your POT out there…well, we see what is happening and happened to California… We don’t need that here!
I really needed this video. Bank fishing has been difficult lately. Possibly due to our weather, here in NW Georgia, bouncing like a yoyo. I haven't seen your videos for a while because for the last 6 years I lost my desire to draw, play guitar, and fish. Hell, I've even stopped playing video games this past year. I used to be passionate about all of those things. Anyhoo, I'm glad you're still doing videos.
I am sooo hooked on these videos, you have no idea. I've learned a lot, and for that I thank you.... I don't catch fish every time I go bank fishing, but when I do... boy I'm a happy dude.... thanks for all the info!!!!
I love these old fashioned how to informative videos I feel like a lot of bigger channels are getting away from this. Great video keep it up. God bless
Love your videos. I was always more of a hunter than a fisher, but I got interested in fishing somewhat recently and I've learned a great deal from this channel, and had a great time out on the water trying out the stuff I've learned
Awesome video as usual flukemaster... I fished 200 days in a row from the bank before I started kayak fishing. My favorite lures were the swim jig and a squarebill. Small jerkbait like a rapala original f7. Just to add some for guys who are banking! Tight lines everybody! See ya on the water Gene!
One thing to add is try a Carolina rig 12” leader with a tungsten weight red Bead and use a Z man finesse straight tail worm with a small little drop shot hook nose hooked. The worm will float up keeping it out of the weeds in those shallow ponds and positioned about 1ft up in the water column . When you drag it make sure you don’t drag it far because then it will come down into the weeds and get hung up only drag it enough to just pull it down a few inches. It’s super subtle and get bites in the hot summer
Tried the Carolina Rig with a white shad on very hot conditions this morning and got myself a 2 pound large mouth bass on the first cast! Thanks for the tips as always. 🤙
Man, when I first got back into bass fishing, I loaded up on every kind of frog you can imagine, some costing as much as12 bucks. Problem is, the weights in them fell out after 2 or 3 fish. I got some walmart Ozark trails hollow body frogs for 2 bucks apiece and I've caught the thunder out of bass with them. Surprisingly they have held up extremely well. The eyes faded out but they still catch fish when my double digit frogs are ignored. Go figure.
I don’t know why your videos haven’t been showing up in my feed as much. Man I love your content. Absolutely one of the best out there! I am about to hit the gym but all I want to do now is fish!

You mentioned to match color to the clarity of the water. Could you make a video going into that a bit? Im still trying to figure that out. I live in AZ and fish murky river water a lot and havent seemed to notice a pattern as far as what colors work vs what colors dont, etc. Could use some tips.
Good info on bank fishing. I do a lot of this fishing because I don't have a boat. Seems like the small bait works well. I have good luck with frog 🐸 baits. Good idea to ask for permission to fish these ponds when on private property.
The advice to drop your rod after they pick it up is golden 👍 that's what I do 99% of the time while Texas rigging and I rarely lose a fish. One bait I feel you missed was a buzz bait they can be stellar on a pond!!!
Small pond with 80% Lillie's, 2%duckweed, 18% lakeweed skum with all the Lillie's. Any advice is welcome.... It definitely got Bass largemouth. All have been under 2 lbs but caught 10 to 12 of them.... No one else fishes the pond. So there's got to be at least 2 or 3 big ones.
Ultralight rods and reel are fun on farm ponds they make those small bass feel like monsters on the other end. I always keep a medium action rod just in case there is larger fish. Lastly I love to fish in-line spinners and other small spinners
MY MAN! 👍🏻 👀 I also am a big fan of using no weights. I tell people and tell people to try it and I hardly ever get anybody to understand because seriously used to doing whatever else they've been doing. If you need a little more weight for casting you just use a little thicker or longer brand worm brand name doesn't matter. It is how the worm or whatever plastic cast and moves in the water as you work it. All the weight does is make your bait sink faster and make it have more resistance as far as trying to get it over a limb or a piece of brush that is in the water. When I go fishing I have my rod and spinning reel, a ziplock baggie of my favorite plastic worms, and a small pack of hooks just like you get it off the display at the store. You can have so much more fun not looking at tackle Box around with you. You put the baggy worms in your pants pocket, the pack of hooks in your shirt pocket and a pair of needle nose in any of your other pockets and you can move like a ninja, lol, never having to pick anything up as you move are keeping up with things of any sort. And if you catch a couple fish you're not having to carry your fish and your tackle box and you're rod and reel. It makes life so great !!!! 😎
This is great stuff Gene. I hope you make lots more Tackle Tuesdays. Ive been a bank fisherman for many years and all of what you said is right on. I like your ned rig tip about how to swim it. Thanks!!

Got a Bass Raider with a TM and an anchor on my local lakes. I don’t have a lot of confidence from any boat/kayak. I was tossing around a spinnerbait and got a bite but have never landed a bass on a watercraft. Any tips?
Make sure you’re not retrieving too fast, and don’t be afraid to change up your retrieve. Sometimes fish Chase and sometimes they want it “on their nose”. A simple pause in the retrieve can aid in the presentation of a spinner bait. I would try different color spinner baits and plastic as well to change up presentation. Or go with a gut feeling to change completely to other lures. Try top water lures. I always smash bass w topwater, lake or river.
Thanks for always educating us on fishing. I have a video idea: Teach us how to catch really small bluegill, sunfish, etc. Then how to rig the bluegill (Different rod?) as bait for larger fish. Just an idea. Again, thanks.

Early mornings, late evenings, cloudy overcast days, and right before a storm. Also have a mindset you’re going to catch, see yourself catching fish. Fish parallel to the bank not just in the middle of the pond, and keep at it. You will land lunkers
Hi, I’m new to fishing so I wanted to thank you for your videos. When using spinners and/or the fake worms in canals (I’m in Miami) do I put a sinker ?
no. spinnerbaits have a weighted head on them. you only realy put sinkers on soft plastic rigs. texas rig, drop shot, ned rig, etc. but you can do weightless soft plastics too if the fish are suspended in the water column and not along the bottom for a slower sink rate
i would like to see is a deep dive into that hand full of universal rigs and lures that you would reach for any time, any where.... It would be nice not to be distracted by all of the shiny new thingies... Some of us are just OLD SCHOOL... Take Us Back To School....
A lot of the informative videos always talk about the rods to use for this or that, like everyone who fishes has money to buy 10 different rods for whatever they are fishing, for certain lures/fish, i don't think that is the case at all. Especially if your bank fishing and not on a boat. If you get a medium fast action. I feel like your set for any fish you want to go for, besides trophy musky or something(it could happen though). Obviously if your fishing pan fish, go lighter on the rod or musky go heavy. But medium/ medium light for the average fisherman/woman is ideal I think. I do still learn constantly with fishing videos. But I've seen and know people who have caught big muskie on light tackle. Or catch a big crappie on a squarebill while fishing bass, Good video regardless.
That kinda depends on what part of the country you live in. Down in the south you could easily loose a big one in too light of a rod. I always recommend varying three rods while bank fishing for bass a Medium spinning, a Med baitcasting, and a MedHvy baitcasting
If your not that srs about fishing then it wont matter but if you want to do stuff right and give you the best chance then having at least 4 different types of rods will rly help with what you can throw
I stink. I love fishing but I stink. Mostly bank fishing. No luck on artificials, Texas, Ned, wacky. I follow the ideas here, but I am skunked unless I use live bait dead sticking. Any suggestions?
Fluke I would love to see you doing video on how you know you have a bite on a soft plastic when you know you should set the hook I think that would be a very informative video for new fisherman sometimes I don't know if I got a bite or I'm just snag or what and it would be nice to get a comprehensive video how in win the set the hook
You'll get the feel for it eventually, but the easiest way to tell you is to get your line tight and if its not thumping it youre snagged, if you pull it tight and you feel it vibrating or bouncing the rod tip its a fish. Kinda hard to explain but I hope that helps
I’ve started using the closed captions more to better understand what people say. I have to laugh though. Why are you “baked fishing?” 🤣 I saw it in the intro and nearly spit out my coffee!
Love your videos! I've learned so much from you and can't wait to try these techniques and setups on Oklahoma lakes and the warrior river in Alabama! Btw Boomer sooner! 🤣
There isn't one rod that covers every bait and technique in bass fishing but you can have two that will cover most of them. A Medium and a Medium Heavy. Spinning and/or baitcaster.
I tried Senkos for a while before I caught anything on them. The trick for me is 1) Weightless and 2) Fish so slow that it's boring you to tears then slow down a little more and you'll get bites.
Love this guy here, actually give me a lot of guidelines on how to fish right. A lot of techniques, no bs. Keep up the good works
I appreciate that!

Thanks for this great content Gene. You were a big inspiration for me to start a channel .
Glad to hear it
Fluke I would love to see you doing video on how you know you have a bite on a soft plastic when you know you should set the hook I think that would be a very informative video for new fisherman sometimes I don't know if I got a bite or I'm just snag or what and it would be nice to get a comprehensive video how in win the set the hook
You'll get the feel for it eventually, but the easiest way to tell you is to get your line tight and if its not thumping it youre snagged, if you pull it tight and you feel it vibrating or bouncing the rod tip its a fish. Kinda hard to explain but I hope that helps
I agree!
Gene, u the man! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I started fishing again because of these videos. Thank you :)
Love the videos brother. Also that hat is also amazing
I’ve started using the closed captions more to better understand what people say. I have to laugh though. Why are you “baked fishing?” 🤣 I saw it in the intro and nearly spit out my coffee!
LOL
This is exactly what kind of video I needed
Another great useful video buddy 👊🏻
Love your videos! I've learned so much from you and can't wait to try these techniques and setups on Oklahoma lakes and the warrior river in Alabama! Btw Boomer sooner! 🤣
Awesome! Thank you!
Me too! I’m from the Tulsa area!
Love theses vids keep it up helping us very much thanks you are a inspiration
What if those of us don’t have multiple rods and reels to choose from? What is the one and done combo?
There isn't one rod that covers every bait and technique in bass fishing but you can have two that will cover most of them. A Medium and a Medium Heavy. Spinning and/or baitcaster.
Great video. Thanks for the ned rig tip.
Also, you kind of look like Hafthor Bjornsson. The whole video I was wondering why you look so familiar haha
You have the most fact base educational videos..ktbtv put me on your vids with that spotted bass catchin trip
Thanks for the video...lots of tips for a beginner......thank you sir.......!!!
all these different rod types. but do they REALLY matter? im sure i have all the different types but ive never understood the difference.
Never caught a damn thing on a senko. Finesse hooks with a strike king rage bug has been producing for me.
Wacky Rigs are the best man
@@GoansAblazeBBQ wacky doesn't work for me, the hook never sets. Texas rig is where it's at
I tried Senkos for a while before I caught anything on them. The trick for me is 1) Weightless and 2) Fish so slow that it's boring you to tears then slow down a little more and you'll get bites.
