  • The reef tank (300 x 150 x 75 cm) setup by Martin from Deggingen was built with a lot of planning regarding the technical area / sump / LED. The aquascape is composed of a mixed stock. Inside there're SPS, LPS and other corals next to some tropical fish. The sump and base cabinet have been fantastically adapted into an extra room.

    Two years later and I still think this is the most stunning private tank in the world. And the nicest reef I've seen on the internet. I find myself coming back every few months for inspiration.

      @ The water change is probably automated and pretty simple because you would change it in that technology room and not the display tank!

      My first thought was: Boring choice of corals.
      If you have such a large tank, why not make use of it? There is nothing inside the tank that wouldn't fit inside a 300l one (except some fish like the doc). Such a waste.

    Wish these videos were longer and you went more in depth about the filtration and aquarium layout etc. Video is too short for such an elaborate tank.

    Amazing setup.
    But with so much care and investment in equipment, why the aquascape seems to be just an afterthought?
    I know there isn't a culture of studying aquascaping techniques in reef tanks, but still, such an outstanding tank deserved more attention to the aquascape.

      Yes - they enjoy ocean-documentary and "Finding Nemo" most ;) The angle is fine, you can watch tv both from dining room and living room :)

    My dream is to own a saltwater tank one day, but for now I enjoy fresh water aquascaping and planted tanks! This aquarium was breathtaking! All the colors of the corals and everything almost looked like the saltwater version of an aquascaped planted tank!😍 It was beautiful and whatever they're doing to have this tank looking like this...     Salt costs , electricity bill , sound , and how long does it take to clean the glass? What do you do in a power outage? What happens if you need to dose meds? How do you even control nutrients and flow?

      People use a backup power supply, and they control the nutrients with the plants you see in the video.

      The flow had me thinking, probably has closed loop return pumps plumbed in the rock work. The rest is just a matter of money which clearly this person has no shortage of.

    Unreal! This would have to be one of the nicest in home display tanks on the planet. I really appreciate the simplicity of the filtration, utilising standard nutrient export methods just on a larger scale. Excellent!

    i'll tell you my thoughts: this guy designed his house *AROUND* the tank 😂
    Thus:
    1. He's not married
    2. He wasn't married when he installed the aquarium
    3. He's a lucky guy to have a wife that's ok with such a big tank in the living room !
    I built mine flush with the wall (like a painting) but it was only 250 Lt

      Das ist das Gute, wenn man alles selbst baut, gebrauchte Geräte, Korallen von privaten Züchtern und günstige Materialien aus der Industrie nimmt, wie die Alu-Profile und PE-Bigboxes, dann kostet es viel weniger als man denkt :)

    The tank is wonderfull, but the video not so much ... did you add the loud noise on purpose, so nobody could understand you? I stopped watching because the "music" was so annoying ...

    Beautiful tank but I sure wouldn't want to take care of it. Had a 100 gal sps reef in the mid 2000's that I could hardly keep up with.

    If there was a type of water movement energy conducting tech within the tank system then this would be a good display ....... other then that it looks far too expensive for the result .

    Now Thats a reef tank. It actually looks like a piece of the reef.. The 3 box sump is a very cool design. This is my dream tank!! Awsome.

      Heron Aquatics Hi, in the display tank there are only 2 Ecotec MP40 for a circular current but i plan to add 2 MP4, the full equipment is listed in the video description 🙂

    habe dieses aquarium schon auf einem anderen kanal gesehen, finde es sehr schön. wobei meines bei der deckenhöhe vermutlich mind. doppelt so hoch wäre. aber sonst sehr sehr schön

      Danke :) Ich habe auch überlegt es höher zu machen - dann wäre es auch doppelt so schwer und es sind so schon 4,5t, man würde kaum noch für Arbeiten im Becken oder Füttern reinkommen und Beleuchtung bis zum Boden könnte selbst mit LED oder HQI ein Problem werden, oder meinst nicht?

      Dany Deville Klar Leiter hatte ich gestern auch bei Arbeiten im Becken aber mein Arm ist dann trotzdem schon oft nicht lang genug und will nicht ständig Baden 😉 Aber klar, aussehen tut so ein hohes wirklich toll und man hat noch andere Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten, zB mit Riff-Ästen, war nur hier als Raumteiler schon von der Statik kaum mehr zu machen ...
