Special thanks to Matthew @japankoiservice_europe for translating/ interpreting on this tour! Very helpful and nice guy who keeps koi himself, you can see his facility in another video here ‣‣‣ bit.ly/3qNJJoi Also thank you to Mr. Wendel himself for letting me ask him a MILLION questions 😅 Was really maybe the most interesting thing I've ever seen in the saltwater side of the hobby. You can get in touch about buying corals on his website here ‣ bit.ly/3YRkrlE KEEP YOUR NITRATES HIGH ☝🤷♂ - George Out
Ho George
That is an Aladins' cave of Coral Reefs... who would have thought keeping nitrates high would be of such benefit...
I really like Jürgen he is a very unique person. He has appeared in German video's before and I have adopted some of his lazy approach methods.
@@ncoppensHow has that worked in the home aquarium? What’s your setup?
Exclennent informative
This guy is by far my favorite aquarium keeper Ive ever seen. His theory's of water chemistry is amazingly different than what we know as the conventional way. His dedication is unbelievable. He drives across Europe to deliver! His "Dead fish sanctuary" as Ive dubbed it, it friggin awesome and heart warming. This guy just has a whole story. I would def do a follow up with him and pick his brain some more.
Completely agreed
He's changed my tropical freshwater tank for the better. Fantastic advice always and a genuine passion
Imma be real with you if you have your tank & it’s predictable you’ve had it for years, I had a SPSLPS and softy tank that I never test and that thing was running for four years I just knew how much it needed & when by how my coral & fish responded I’m probably gonna get a lot of flack for saying this, but there’s a lot of ways to do this hobby that they won’t tell you because they want to make a quick buck
I agree with you. There’s always rhyme and rhythm to the madness if it works. I’m a freshwater guy and have a pond outside. Where I live it’s warm Mediterranean summers so my three 21 inch common plecos thrive in that thing. I don’t use a conventional filter with pads and all that. I, instead, used 3 large planter buckets with no drain holes and added three inch piping through all the bottoms connecting them together. I drilled holes in the piping in each bucket so water can disperse into the buckets. I used basic lava rock from the garden section and used that to plant several elephant ears and whatever else I felt was a good nutrient puller. And filled those in with the lava rock so water can filter through plus establish beneficial bacteria in the pores of the rock. I used a submersible pump that’s around 3100 gph and I gotta say my red eared slider male, my peninsula cooter female, two koi fish, three massive plecos, and minnows are quite happy and healthy while the water is crystal clear
Apart from the completely nipped clownfish
This man is hardcore. If lots of customers buy a lot, does he need to drive for multiple days at a time? Who takes care of this while he’s driving.
Mind blowing amount of corals being produced, thanks for the tour! Also lots of respect for him to take in the otherwise abandoned fishes, thanks!
The fact that he takes care of the reject and abandon clown fish warms my heart
This guy's a Gem. Love to see when retailers/wholesalers are just hobbyist gone wild. Great video!
This guy is proper, indeed.
for a single person to upkeep this is actually insane
Yes, agreed. He reminded me of a hoarder. He's so wealthy nobody wants to tell him that the fish are struggling. He might rescue fish but if he's not isolating them then everybody will get subjected to the illness. I felt like someone needed to secretly do some water testing to find out how we can help him. He's got an awesome facility and beautiful tanks but it's time to sell at least a third? That clown fish that was half bones. Heart breaking.
And he calls himself lazy. Clearly he isn’t. That would be a ton of work for multiple people to keep up with much less just one.
Yeah, clownfish tend to fight in close quarters as well. Way too stressful for them to have a chance at healing.@@shimmerysparkles123
@@shimmerysparkles123 my man they were given to him like that. they aren't ill or infectious, they are quarantined before put into a tank and those are just physical deformities.
You seriously looked at all that and saw a problem?? I think you are the one that needs help!@@shimmerysparkles123
The sanctuary for the fishes warms my heart 🥹❤ Godbless this dude 🫶🏻
it would be pretty cool to make a zombie/ghost ship themed reef tank with all the rescue fishes. could fill it with lime green corals and spooky skeleton stuff.
Gotta respect the hustle and integrity of Jürgen, driving around Europe and delivering his coral directly.
-And the taking in the "leftover" clownfish and being a sanctuary for his anemone tanks was heart warming
I'm just learning about coral /reef keeping, but this guy's methods are insane, but also make perfect sense. Seems to have mastered his own methods at a minimum. 🤯
The fish keeping hobby is changing for the better. We are finally realizing that we can make a mostly all natural ecosystem, with a little bit of technology. It's all about trial and error, and finding the perfect mix of "ingredients", i.e. coral or fish numbers to make it all work as it should. Thank you for interviewing people like this.
Just stunning. This wonderful man could end up saving coral reefs and endangered species of sealife that coexist with them with his work!
By far the best farms ever, its very unique and very interesting approach, Thank you George for visiting him and sharing it with us!
This guy is a master at coral breeding. It seems like he has so much knowledge and figured out a way to efficiently breed all those corals.
It took me awhile to realize its more important to keep things simple and stable before chasing numbers
He is one of the most interesting men in the world! And seems for lack of a better word, precious. Some people are truly just amazing.
Wow, Jorgen is an amazing guy, when you meet some one like this you should shake their hand in respect for what they have achieved so far.
It was mentioned that he is lazy but to get to this level of coral population some one has to put the work in & as he does all the fragging himself that's got to be him, so lazy that isn't. Respect to this guy & thanks for making the effort to go & see this so we can too. 👍
Wow, that was amazing how much coral is inside each tank, the (as you called it George) Apple Orchard was something new to me, they were like trees and with the creativity I've seen in some tanks from previous vlogs you could make some fantastic visuals. This was an experience I'm sure you won't forget, I know I won't. Thank you for sharing, see you soon!
Absolutely the best reef vid I've ever seen. I will definitely be rewatching this many times just for the joy it brings me. I love how happy he is and how he believes so much in what he's doing, and who can argue with his success. If I was over there I would definitely be a customer. Those fish look rough but good on him for helping them avoid the flush earlier than they would have. Keep on keep' on, Jürgen!!! ✌
By far my favorite video and fish room/coral garden. Love seeing completely different styles. That’s what it’s all about. Really enjoyed it
so sweet that so many of his fish are rescues!
Not gunna lie that’s one of the coolest setups I have ever seen. We need more of these people in the hobby who are thinking outside the box. Love it!
Your reef tank in the dorm room videos are what convinced me to get my first saltwater tank. Another video out of the ball park. 👌
That's absolutely stunning, much respect!
I've heard of work dogs, but I have never seen work fish. This is very interesting.
*UNBELIEVABLE* I've seen bigger tanks, but this is -probably- definitely the most amazing setup/collection/methods that I've ever seen! What an impressive man.
Honestly this is just insane how well he does his tank. Everything he does is the right approach of how to maintain a self sustaining ecosystem. And is true, nutrients doesnt really need be low, but what needs to be low is ammonia.
The moment you are German but reading the 'translation' because you watch too many videos in English xD
And it is just amazing to see how happy he is to show his corals and fish
George, as always, spectacular work!! ❤!
I’ve never seen anything like this, I know nothing of coral or aquariums other than coral is very sensitive and grows very slowly. This is astonishing. Very cool. Thank you for sharing
How did these coral adapt regular water parameters after purchase?
Wow! This is kinda revolutionary to see. What an interesting methodology.
Thank you for taking care of the runt and deforemed fish.
Bravo Jurgen Wendell !!!
You are truly a genius and your methods are a proven success by the health of your corals, anemones and fish.
That’s just absolutely madness and quite spectacular
Uhm that’s a Molly and not a platy there mate 😂
That's what I thought! Thank you for reassuring my I'm not crazy, for that reason anyway.
If that was a platy he would have all the water dehydrated from him overnight. They cannot osmo-regulate like mollies do. I’m telling you it’s impossible..
Ok so I kinda get it but Molly’s look exactly like platys just bigger
I instantly knew I would see this comment after he said that😭
Just Molly and guppies can do saltwater.
Okay. Now, that's fascinating to watch. Believe me, I'm stump too. He's one of those that think outside the box and it works.
Amazing
Very professional
Unique way of growing top quality
Coral
Well done
Great video to enjoy

It's really ❤amazing , you just doing great job , the farm looks mesmerizing ❤
This place is incredible , thanks for this tour
I have a tank that has been taken over by Clove Polyps and haven't done a water change in about 6 plus months. I have 2 clowns and one blood shrimp plus snails and hermit crabs. All appear healthy but my tank is a totallly looking disaster site. I like to clean it up but I just keep topping off the tank with RO due to an anticipated move out of state. For now I'm just keeping it topped off. I never thoungt the fish would last this long, but I glad to see them going so strong!
What an AMAZING Setup!!! 💪💪💪
The clown fish look fantastic, especially in various colors, their ecosystem is very cool.
Amazing
And very enjoyable
To see this facility
Great job
Thank you

What the hell? Seeing a keeper like this for first time, this guy is cool & insane..... With full of Gems
This is just amazing.
First time that a reefing system surprises me.
I like this guy. Does it his way and it works.
The most unique one I have seen! Using fish to farm corals..omg.. what a genius!
What a wholesome guy!
bring the sea to home.. so beautiful coral 😍😍😍
Such a cool unique facility and guy 😊
This is literally insane
I love this man!
This guy is a legend!
Such a good video thank you!
Great video, keep it up!💯👍
This was worthwhile. Also, can't imagine the fish complain about still being alive, getting fed well, having lots of room, etc. But... more important seeing that corals don't have to be kept in pristine water. Corals trump fish in saltwater while fish trump plants in freshwater. Lots of use for both in both situations. Even though corals are lots and lots of animals, they seem more analogous to the plants in freshwater (freshwater dude here). Lapping up the resources that the fish provide. Much like an aquaponic farm. Pretty cool.
Awesome content, bro!
George, how high he kept his nutrients in the two systems ?
Seems like softies system is just infinite no water changes?
Other Coral breeding system he does water changes so i wonder what are his numbers ?
Thanks!
Wow i love this hobby
I really miss the intro song you used to have. Boom boom boom boom always brought nostalgia and happiness when a new video of yours came on.
a coral professor n a very good man.
seeing so many gonis and torches thriving, really makes me wonder about my tank. I have 10x the filtration and havent had my corals thrive still.
Amazing 🔥🔥
Keep it up George! loving the videos. Still waiting to start selling some of your tanks in my store in MO. Give me a holler id love to collaborate on a video together.
I love this so much!!
Hi, Do you know what the system nutrient levels were? Nitrates and phosphate? Thanks
Love the cylinder anemone tank!
Watching you always from philippines❤️🇵🇭
I would have love to know what his nitrate levels are.
Very cool
Jurgen has a very kind face. He is apparently a very good person. Only such people can engage in professional aquarium farming - they will not flush a sick fish down the toilet, as most professionals would do. After all, for them the main thing is money, and for Jurgen it’s the life of a fish.
the owner seems like a cool guy
He is the coral reef king.
his aquarium system is insane.. the skimmer...
This is how it goes in nature!
Yes exactly! No filter!
i have been running high nutrient system 15 years and I cant agree more.
Beautifull ❤
This is really awesome thanks George for this amazing 🤩 video , so when you asked for water change he said only 20% water change only sps corals and for softcorals he doesn't do water change? Is that correct?
He did once a week water change in the breeding room but not the showroom
Awesome 🎉
Amazing.
I feel humans have more domesticated corals than the entire great barrier reef 😅😅😅😅
Kind of like how there are way more tigers in captivity just in the United States alone than in all of the wild.
At this rate, there will be very few, if any, corals in the oceans
You do realise how large the ocean is 😂😂
@@asphaltanimal8809 yes but coral requires some special environmental conditions to grow... Also I was just kidding about the population...
@@asphaltanimal8809less than 1% of the ocean is coral reef
Mad coral scientist!
HI George, did he say what his nitrate and phrosphate levels were ?
For a farm this technique just seems logical, as long as it isnt harming the fish a hobbyist can do the same for a show tank
damn, this is heaven
This saltwater goat guy is totally nuts O, and I love it ❤️ 🐟 🪸
Finally a vid notification for George.
Bro got the whole ocean atp
Love this walking death valley of coral, weird dude love him
Aquaponics with corals basically ❤
Amazing
At the beginning. Reef with only a skimmer has been called the "berlin method" back to the early 1980s that I know of personally. I have a 75-gallon reef with three fish that has had no water changes in 27 years. Only top offs
Definitely that man is GOAT 🐐
Good 👍🏻 video
so what are his nutrient levels?
Awsome video ❤❤❤❤
