    As a saltwater only person, I love the tank, it’s not overpopulated at all, and I really recommend all the people to try out a coral tank! It’s so relaxing and I haven’t done water changes in almost a year

      @ I have two AIO, a fluval evo 13.g and an innovative marine 20g, I definitely recommend AIO for tanks under 30g

      @ I will be trying a 53 gallon. And I will take it slow, I will try with a canister filter at first, biomaster 250. Great one in my opinion. I am starting with dry rock, maybe a piece of live rock. I am getting a wavemaker as well. And thinking about a sump later on. Its alot to take in.

      I feel like salt is for dignified people with patience. I have expensive caradina shrimp in a tank that’s full of pearl weed (by design, I’m convinced they love it) salt is kind of sterile. It’s pretty in its own way but I like scapes that look grown in and you catch glimpses of the fish and livestock. When you sit long enough they all come out. I guess you can do that with salt but it has to take ages. Maybe when I’m more dignified. If that ever happens.

    I'm not into saltwater normally, but this tank looks absolutely amazing. The Makroalgae give a fresh look to it... Don't know about stocking, but you did say this tank isn't the forever home of the fish, so it'll be okay anyways... very beautiful all in all, and less to buy than I thought

    Gosh i love your setups. The only complaint I have is the length of the videos is shorter than I like, but i'm one of those "~hour long are my favorite" types. I like the watch you work style videos, like the "Other 'M'" aquascaper tends to do, i just wanna be there. These shorter tutorial types are nice, but always makes me wish i could experience more.

    It's important to add a variety of empty snail shells to the tank - as your hermits grow they will need to grab a new house. On this note, they display fascinating behaviour. When selecting a new shell, they will examine it carefully to determine whether it is a "lefty" (a small percentage of snails coil in the opposite direction). When they are happy, they will "spin" the shell so as to allow any sand to fall out of it. They are very smart little critters and very curious about random objects you add to the tank.

    Nice wee setup you did. I was always made to think that saltwater aquariums were much harder to keep, which is why I stayed away from them, but looking at your experience of this setup it doesn't seem to be the case. I know Clown fish are so common but they are spectacular. Love your channel mate and keep up with the excellent content.

    Great little tank! I never had any luck with hermit crabs they just murder each other until 1 is left 😅

    Nice! I've got a four figure nano reef as well. No regrets, but it is amazing how quick the costs run up. Not overstocked. IMO and IME, your tank stocked just right! Looks like you are doing fine without a protein skimmer. I've got one, but it doesn't pull out a lot, and I actually have to dose nitrates and phosphates to get them above 0 and ward off dynoflagellates, as well as keep the corals happy.
    I look forward to seeing updates on this, and any future saltwater tanks you do.

    If you want to make a cheap salt Walter you def can, a lot of people is scared to start a salt water cause money and difficulty, but it’s actually really easy with macro Alghee and easy corals,
    You don’t even have to spend that much, just go for a yellow light instead of blue (if you go soft corals and alghe) or a freshwater rgb light is fine as well
    Wave maker it’s not always a need, really depends from the tank you have and the habitants you choose,
    Just make sure to buy a really good salt and the game is set!

    Whew! that's a lot of money! But i believe in Europe, livestock is very expensive 😓
    The hardware is definitely good standard 😊 the filter, light and wavemaker are VITAL for fish + microalgae.
    I had a 25 litre pico tank for nearly 12 years! It was just a cube with a $59 light and an airstone+ tiny heater. All i did was scrape the glass and give a 20litre water change every week. No fish, just a hermit+ algae snails. But i had some lovely corals , even some hard corals. But not having fish meant it was very little maintenance, 30 mins a week. I eventually moved it to my work, everyone liked our little reef; it was quite the talking point.
    Unfortunately we had a heat wave and the elevated temp killed everything 😢

      It’s important to note that IKEA specifically says its furniture is not meant to support aquariums.

    Great job,
    1) No need for a quarantine tank?
    And 2) how did you handle the inevitable ugly stage?

      1. Nope the fish have already been quarantined at the shop, so imo no need to do it again.
      2. I let the cleanup crew handle the ugly stage ;)

    Btw, are the inhabitants taken directly from nature or are these from aquatic culture, do you may know?

    Hi MJ, nice looking reef tank, kudos. I don´t think it is overstocked as it is now. I wonder how you fed your goby and shrimp. Do you feed them with frozen food?

    • @MJAquascaping
      @MJAquascaping  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah mostly frozen, but also dry granules which I soak for a few minutes beforehand.

    Amazing tank dude! Don't like the look of extreme neon saltwater tanks. This looks lovely and natural. Can you let us know the maintenance schedule with canister filter? I'd be interested in saltwater if canisters are a viable option!

    • @MJAquascaping
      @MJAquascaping  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah same, I prefer the natural look 😊 I think I’ll clean the canister filter 4 times per year and change the carbon twice per year

      @@MJAquascaping that sounds good!! Every time i ask at the shop about canisters they tell me I will need to clean every 2-3 days and my nutrients will spike. Keeps recommending me sumps and thats why I havent tried it yet. You might have just convinced me to get some salty pets!

      @@FishyThingsAU Every 2-3 days 🤣 well of course you need to get a canister filter that’s suitable for the size of the tank, but that’s obvious 🤷‍♂️

    What does your Nero 3 wavemaker schedule look like? I have the same wavemaker in my 20G tank with some softies and 2 clown fish. I've been tinkering with the myAI app to create a nice schedule

      Heb dus 1 keer een water wissel gedaan, maar denk niet dat ik er binnenkort nog een ga doen.
      Maar ik wil binnenkort nog wel een wat meer gedetailleerde video maken.
