    Nice idea, will use the cable slot and backlight but change it so it's inside a cabinet for zero dust collection and the lights running only with the door open. Black coated copper tubing for holding the controller on a matte gray background and purple/blue backlight. I'm fully inspired now. Wouldn't have gotten to that idea without this video ❤️

      I'll dig one of mine out and put a guide together. It essentially involves using a fibre washer as a shim to tighten up the XY assembly and then lubricating with a little lithium grease. There was a guide on the net a few years ago but I can't seem to find it now. I've repaired a few over the years this way and they've held up pretty well.

    • @BrothersMake

    "DIY"
    Step 1: get a whole workshop with all the tools in a hardware store.

    • @BrothersMake
      @BrothersMake  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I can see how it can be daunting when you see a workshop full of tools, but that does not make this any less of a DIY project. This can be made entirely out of pallet wood with only a drill, a jigsaw and maybe a sander. The tools we have have been collected and upgraded for almost 20 years. All they do is make the process faster or more efficient. There is always multiple ways of achieving a task, so instead of claiming you need too many tools to achieve this result, either modify the result to match the tools you have, or start by asking friends/family or looking second hand for tools that you can use.

    Are you able to include the templates for those controllers or not?

  • @chief_catguy
    @chief_catguy 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Omg the detail on this is cool and greatly appreciated. I can tell you put a lot of thought into the build. Do you have an estimate for how many hours this project took?
    I’d be curious to know if this is your personal shop. I’m impressed at your array of tools. Are you professionals? I’d like to get into woodworking but presently have more experience with metalwork and simple builds for the stage

    • @BrothersMake
      @BrothersMake  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This one probably took us around 40 man-hours. And yes this is our own personal shop. We have built up our tool collection over the past few years and we are very proud of what we have. We are not professionals by any means but very much enjoy this currently as a hobby. Getting into woodworking isn’t too hard, you just have to have a project in mind - buy what you need specifically for that project and then expand from there. Thanks for the comment and your support!

    • @BrothersMake
      @BrothersMake  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know you saw us use a variety of tools in the video but you really could build this with a few cheap tools; a drill, jigsaw and circular saw. Maybe a sander as well if you wanted to get a nice overall finish. Don’t let the amount of tools you have hold you back!

    • @BrothersMake

      $80k 😂😂 almost everything we have is second hand from eBay and Gumtree!

  • @comedyclub333
    @comedyclub333 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    At 7:20 your hand is waaaaay to close at the blade. While you are free to do whatever you like I would highly appreciate you not showing such risks in your videos as it encourages other people to do the same.

    • @BrothersMake
      @BrothersMake  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That 2 second shot was a top-down shot, so it really doesn’t give you an accurate perspective of how close to the blade we were. We were also using 2 push sticks, which made the cut very safe and controlled. Thanks for the concern but we aren’t showing anything dangerous here
