I can't believe it has taken me this long to find this video. I love these performance videos. You and Tim have some of the best splits I've ever seen in my life. Keep up these awesome videos.
Wow! Just absolutely stellar musicianship. I love the seeming randomness when in all actuality it's meticulously worked out well In advance. Inspirational!🎉
On top of this being an amazing performance, it's really cool to hear two of my favorite pieces--Octabones and Jose before John 5--so clearly referenced.
I’ve seen this performed live at my college twice and as a freshman it makes me want to learn it with my friend next year for like my recital because it’s a mixture of the atonal music that i love in percussion, the thrill i get from hearing and playing caleidoscopio, and it’s also beautiful in that rolled chords section, and even that bass theme that the accidental side person plays is just amazing I hope i can learn it, i mean my friend’s mallet experience is bach’s violin concerto in a minor 1st movement, but we both used to march bass 1 and 2 in our high school competitive drumline, I have 5 semesters of college to learn it with him though before student teaching
Hi! It's Janet from Danmar. So glad the castanets worked out for you. Sounds great! You make it look easy but I know that it is far from easy. I'm a fan.
I just discovered you two and I'm taking all this in, it's incredible! Wish I knew last year when you guys were in Australia, do you think you will be coming back?
@@genekoshinskimusic Are you one of the two players? If so, nice job. That's heavy stuff. PS: I knew what "Khamsin" was, although I admit that I learned about it from the car name.
Those are custom made. We recommend these: tocapercussion.com/products/sound-effects/castanet-machine/ We tour with this version since it's easy to travel with and still sound good for the piece.
I'd like to see one pianist lie on top of the lid and plays black keys, and one sit and plays white. Then they switch. What sane pianists would try that?
Not just the splits, but a controlled accelerando of splits! Wowee!
I saw these guys at P.F. Chang's last night. They asked for two sets of chopsticks each but only one bowl of rice to share.
This is one of the funniest things I've read this month
I don’t understand how people can split this well. You’re an inspiration.
I absolutely cant figure out which part I like the most because every part of this is glorious.
My favourite might be 4:06
Amazing guys! Can't wait to see you live in Perth soon :)
Oh wow, YES!! Looking forward to seeing you, we can't wait for that trip!

Кастаньенты это супер😁
Is similar to Aurél Holló: José / beFORe JOHN5 for me
Is one of them actually playing from the other side of the marimba? Is that difficult to learn?
Sweet.
Was this named after the *Maserati Khamsin* ? 😁
No, Emmanuel wrote it about the "Khamsin" (hot wind seen that comes in the desert)
@@genekoshinskimusic Well, if I ever own a Maserati Khamsin, I'm going to record a tape of this and crank the stereo when I go for a drive!
Deal! haha

What are you using to mount the castanet machines? Going to be attempting this piece and I love the setup you're using!

I didn’t know it was allowed for a cross grip and an independent grip player to play together.
What mallets are y’all using ?
Anders Astrand (blue tape) by Innovative Percussion
Thanks so much!!

Ok now just go step by step on how you hit the mallet 😂😂😂😂
This sounds very persian vs any of the other middle eastern melodies. Is it persian?

Sorry, my phone keeps ringing!
How Djent is made
a lot like jose before john 5
Yeah, the same great Flamenco style and Garcia Fons + specific Sejourné elements. These guys are just outstanding!!!
I don’t like sejourne
