- Field Camping (Weird Singing In The Woods)
Went out to Sugar Creek State Forest again to a new location for camping. This time we decided to camp in a field. I also got to try out a new tent and an all terrain wagon to pull camping gear on. Things were going well until we heard some strange sounds coming from the woods. It sounded like someone was singing without music. Still not sure what all was going on but it was weird and funny at the same time. We did find out later that there was a house on the other side of the rock road at the end of the field separating Sugar Creek State Forest and private property. Obviously someone was having a good time that night lol. Hope you enjoy!!!
Update: According to some comments, the songs were Rise Up and Walking The Wire by Imagine Dragons.

Haha i sing messing about similar to this tho not so loud. But I live in built up area but yes if someone was outside in the park then I'm sure sometimes they treated to similar situations tho I mess about changing lyrics for silly ones often rude or obscene and I whistle and make my whistles go nutty so sound broken or like can't whistle or make it reverberate etc all kinds of madness. Haha..would be hugely embarrassed if someone came to door and caught me as happened once only....lol

This is why I don't go camping anything could happen to you in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night you never know who's walking around or what they're up to You could even fall into an old well and disappear forever No thank you Give me a nice hotel room any day

Meh. Some people like to camp and some don't. People have fun their own way, no one has to experience the same thing others do in order to "live". Besides, as a woman there's a lot of things I don't do at night for my own safety. Better to be safe than sorry. Or dead.

I lived for years in the country. Never any real trouble. Heard some noises outside once, it was a cow that had escaped from our neighbours

My mind immediately goes to something creepy like he's tied up in the middle of the woods, already screamed for an entire day and is thinking no one will ever find him so he's singing to try to not think about it. I've been lost in the woods before and I get creeped out easily so I've sang to "keep stuff away". 😳
The keeps stuff away logic seems like it might work, or be terrible. Crazy people singing loudly in the woods is fucking creepy and i would want nothing to do with it... But then again, noise usually draws in the curious.

About 12-14 years ago, my hubby, a buddy and myself were out mudding in the woods in cape Breton(Mira) and we got stuck around 2am and we were just standing around and we could hear someone singing in the woods! Creeped us right out. 😶

Speaking from experience, it's probably someone just taking a hike with headphones in and not realizing how loud they're signing. Or they just like the sound of their own voice, which I do as well.

What an absolutely creepy thing to hear in a relatively remote area. To me it sounds like a madman yelling total gibberish at the top of his lungs. That’s extremely unsettling considering you guys camped in a very open area which is easy to spot from all angles of the wood line. That’s probably my biggest fear when I go camping. Not knowing if there’s someone else in the forest stalking you. I know damn well I wouldn’t have gotten any sleep knowing there was a lunatic spouting none sense like that. This is why I always carry a pistol as my sidearm and why I set up camp in a more camouflaged location. Whoever was making all that racket I hope he stayed where he was or completely left the entire area. Cool video but very unsettling at the same time.
This was my first field camp. I usually like to find the remotest area deep in the woods off the trail. I like not being seen lol. The house we didn’t know about according to google maps was about 1500 feet away. Across the field, the tree line, and just on the other side of a highway. I roam out there in that area so just bringing up the map was a challenge. Didn’t know where the noise was coming from at first. But we were 10 mins from the car if anything got weirder. I probably won’t field camp again lol.

Most of these comments are pretty tame compared to the ones I’ve deleted. There were some straight up evil people up in here and they’re now blocked. There’s a line and I don’t let it be crossed.
@@blackvelvet1350 Would it be less weird if it wasn't off key? It's a State park, not private land. No expectation of having miles to yourself. Could be any number of people camping there or, like the guy filming says, there's at least one house within earshot. It's my experience that completely normal people sometimes just like to sing. You should probably be more concerned if you detected someone silently approaching what you thought was your personal camp area or house to film or record you.
@Billy Todd I will say though, we never left the conservation land. We thought it was another camp at first and if there was one nearby, we wanted to let ourselves known that we were in the area too. Then we saw the house lights in the distance. There was the field, the tree line, a rock road, then private property on the other side of the road. We never even got past the trees lol.

From the looks of that field, that belongs to a farmer, as its been cut, possibly for hay.
Many of our conservation lands have a mix of forest and fields. The fields are used a lot for deer and turkey hunting. I wouldn’t be surprised if they use it for hay as well.

Coleman used to make a small portable kerosene heater. I used to have one and it was perfect for camping in a tent when the temperature started to drop.
I need to find a good heater for below 30 degrees but easy to pack. I have a little buddy heater but that thing can take up room in a bag. Great for pulk sled camping when there’s snow.
