As a lifetime Dragon Ball fan myself, it was both really shocking and really sad when I first heard about it. He’s one of my many inspirations for me to become an artist myself and I want to create my own unique anime series someday. Thanks for everything Akira Toriyama, may you rest in peace.
So what I’m getting from Kung Fu Panda 4’s production is that Universal wanted to make it into an Illumination like film ditching the heart that made the series excellent and wanted it to be full on FUNNI like Minions.
Then again, Dragon was added into Shrek 2 only after test screenings so last minute character additions aren’t really too out of the ordinary for DreamWorks films.
1. My condolences to all Dragon Ball Z fans. 2. That's unfortunate. 3. I'm looking forward to this new emotional rollercoaster. 4. Reminds me of WALL-E a little bit, but I might check it out. 5. Huh. I see.
Nice. I wonder if it will reach $1 billion at the box office because of the rerelease. I wonder if The Incredibles will have a rerelease in theaters in celebration of its 20th anniversary.
R.I.P. Toriyama. I was hoping animat was going to address this. Dragonball was my whole childhood and is the reason i love anime today as as an adult. Thank you sir.
1. I’m not a dragonball fan but R.I.P. to him and hope the fanbase recovers from his lost 2. I live in Europe so rooster teeth shows or even the studio itself never made a splash in Europe however feel bad for the people who worked there 3. Can’t wait to see it, hope it doesn’t disappoint 4. F*ck you dreamworks. You released a great and unique trailer meaning that you could have made Kung fu panda 4 or megamind 2 great. I’m deeply disappointed with you. However will defenetly watch it in theaters 5. Again my point again from before you could have made it great
Akira Toriyama was the character designer for the Dragon Quest video game series and Chrono Trigger, Dragon Warrior was the name they used in the west for Dragon Quest due to another IP already using the name Dragon Quest
Our reports of the week: 1) The passing of Akira Toriyama = We will all miss you Toriyama. As a Mexican myself, every Latino including my family has a major soft spot for Dragon Ball. May his legacy grow and be remembered for years to come!! 2) Rooster Teeth going out of business = Considering the studio was going downhill, I knew this would happened and sadly many employees are jobless at the moment. Either way, I do hope those laid off employees can find another job sooner by supporting their families. 3) 2nd trailer of Inside Out 2 = Praying for this Pixar sequel to be in line like the Toy Story sequels than say Finding Dory or Incredibles 2. As a major fan of Kelsey Mann, he has a lot to deliver as the studio's new future director!! 4) A first look at The Wild Robot = OH BOY, it is so amazing to see Chris Sanders coming back to Dreamworks. The wild robot has the potential to be one of the best films of 2024, if the studio leaves Chris alone and let him do his magic from there. Plus, the voice cast is quite impressive especially when it's a reunion for Chris and Ving Rhames since the days working on Lio and Stitch. Can't wait for September, the hype is really on!!! 5) The complicated production of Kung Fu Panda 4 = Speaking more of Dreamworks, managed to saw Kung fu panda 4 on its opening day and thought it was okay but very disappointing especially when Mike Mitchell doesn't have a great reputation helming sequels to any prominent franchises (looking at you Alvin and the chipmunks 3 and Lego movie 2). But going further on that interview with co director Stephanie Stine, I feel so sorry for her on what she went through during production and the key reason is all caused by executive meddling. That is a major reason why the 4th installment came half baked than to be a solid conclusion. At least with Madagascar or How to train your dragon, they were franchises who had a plan and kept the original team for every installment. But with Kung Fu panda, it didn't and now it's entering into levels of franchise fatigue which is every studio's worst nightmare!!
Am so excited for The Wild Robot looks beautiful and it kinda of has Puss in Boots the Last Wish style. Inside Out 2 looks amazing And as for Kung Fu Panda 4 with the cameos well Am not seeing the flim until Sunday so no opinions on that but according to the wiki Seth Rogen in the flim 1:27:02 😂😂😂
R.I.P. Akira Toriyama (April 5, 1955 - March 1, 2024), a Japanese manga artist and character designer. He first achieved mainstream recognition for creating the popular manga series Dr. Slump, before going on to create Dragon Ball (his most famous work) and acting as a character designer for several popular video games such as the Dragon Quest series, Chrono Trigger, and Blue Dragon. Toriyama came to be regarded as one of the most important authors in the history of manga with his works highly influential and popular, particularly Dragon Ball, which many manga artists cite as a source of inspiration. He earned the 1981 Shogakukan Manga Award for best shōnen manga with Dr. Slump, and it went on to sell over 35 million copies in Japan. It was adapted into a successful anime series, with a second anime created in 1997, 13 years after the manga ended. His next series, Dragon Ball, would become one of the most popular and successful manga in the world. Having sold 260 million copies worldwide, it is one of the best-selling manga series of all time and is considered to be one of the main reasons for the period when manga circulation was at its highest in the mid-1980s and mid-1990s. Overseas, Dragon Ball's anime adaptations have been more successful than the manga and are credited with boosting anime's popularity in the Western world. In 2019, Toriyama was decorated a Chevalier of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres for his contributions to the arts. R.I.P. Mark Gustafson (September 19, 1959 - February 1, 2024), an American animator and film director, best known for co-directing Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (2022), which won Best Animated Feature at the 95th Academy Awards. 1:27:11- Yeah, I don’t want to see Mat suffer with that, either, but I think I’m the only one against an AniMat Watches of the Megamind sequel. I said that in a private message on Patreon.
In regards to GLITCH Productions; It all happened when Celeste Notley-Smith, Tari’s voice actress, came forward to debunk rumours floating around of her unavailability due to her duties as both a teacher and as a mother. Celeste revealed that she was never informed when she got replaced in an SMG4 episode last month where Tari’s cybernetic arm gained sentience. Furious by this, Anime America resigned from her role as one of the show’s characters; SMG2. She even got statements from some former animators that allegedly delved into the terrible workplace environment of GLITCH Productions, which I can only describe as a cross between what the Not So Awesome Google Doc highlighted and what Spider-Verse’s animators had to go through with Lord and Miller. An entire week went by with constant promos for Digital Circus merchandise, but no statement from the company’s CEO; Kevin Lerdwichagul. When the week was done, Kevin got doxxed, which forced him to make a statement to address and apologise for the allegations, but never said anything about why he replaced Celeste on a whim without her knowledge. Jasmine, the Voice Director, did confess on Discord that she simply forgot to inform Celeste about the recast, but neither Celeste nor Anime America were buying it, and I don’t blame them.
So let’s say that they actually decided to keep the live action and hybrid plot. How do you think the movie would have turned out. Or a better question, would it have made the movie better or worse.
I like Kung Fu Panda 4 I know it has flaws but learning about the messy production and the live action OMG I'm contempt on what I got and Stephanie Ma Stine should get a medal for surviving the aforementioned corpo shenanigan. I liked that Po was mature and didn't have a grudge on Zhen also am I the only one that thinks Tai Lung was making fun of Po "see you in the other side panda" cause if Po keep eating does deep fried dumplings that wont be too long.
It’s pretty sad seeing Dreamworks are going to another massive downfall. From cutting corners, outsourcing, taking away jobs, and also rushed productions. Also have you heard they were in a middle of a lawsuit? Yeah I saw that on LinkedIn. Hopefully DW will be back making more in-house stuff someday. Oh and also for that NDA thing for Inside Out 2. There’s no NDA. Since that character was already revealed.
Kung Fu Pnada 4 was a mess of a production. I mean the movie was at one point a live action/animated hybrid (reminded me of the time when DreamWorks tried to adapt Hot Stuff the little devil into a hybrid film), the furious 5 were shown for the last minute, the story was going to be more true to the series but went with a more jokey direction, oh man the horror.
WARNING: MILD SPOILERS BELOW In regards to your idea for KFP4, I don’t think any of the previous three villains are actually capable of redemption or changing their ways, especially Tai Lung. True, Shifu managed to briefly touch his heart in the first one, but he just snapped right back to his revenge mindset, which shows that he was too far gone.

1. May the creator of Dragon Ball RIP 2. How unfortunate. I’m not familiar with this studio’s works but this is just sad 3. I wholeheartedly agree. This may be the kind of Pixar sequel that may give a sense of déjà vu, but when you stop and think about it, they may be onto something here. I’m still excited for Inside Out 2 and I hope this is not only a worthy successor but also Disney’s biggest animated box office champ in years too. Bring on the new emotions and core memories! 4. The Wild Robot sure has the potential. It looks so real and I do get WALL-E and Tarzan vibes from it as well. I’m optimistically curious on what this will have in store. Good luck Chris Sanders and DreamWorks 5. I know that making an animated 4th installment is a big challenge in itself but man, this is a wild production indeed even though it was smooth for the most part. If there’s one thing what Toy Story 4’s success taught us, its that you must be careful with animated 4th movies in production. Po must’ve been working out so many kinks while they were working on it
@@isaachernandez2592 really. That’s strange they would unfavorably compare it to Frozen 2. Even if Klaus was Netflix Animation’s debut, I didn’t think it made sense for people to think that way about the whole 2D thing because the movie is for streaming and of coarse, people are still using 2D animation for their movies. Wolfwalkers, The Boy and the Heron, Flee, and more are proof of it.
@@isaachernandez2592 well I remember how huge the anticipation was before it came out. Sure it was not highly acclaimed as the first film and got an interesting amount of varying opinions from audiences and critics (heck even the score on rotten tomatoes was solid too), but we have to thank the marketing for being one of the driving forces of its success. They treated it like it’s going to be a major event and yet it matched what the trailers tried to say
@@isaachernandez2592 well the anticipation was high. It may not be critically acclaimed as the first but we have to thank the marketing team for being one of the driving forces for Frozen 2’s success.
Hearing the mess of what happened on KFP4. I can understand why, after seeing that movie it’s definitely the weakest of the bunch with a formulaic like story with confusing twist and plot holes added in. I’m not saying I hated it, I found it ok since I did enjoy some jokes and the action was fun. I can honestly agree with the co-director of what Mike has been doing. The film would’ve been much better if they kept the kidnapped Shifu idea. At least the hybrid idea didn’t make it because it’s ridiculous
1. I’m so sad to hear that Akira Toriyama has passed away as this is the man who created Dragon Ball. If it weren’t for him in checking out Dragon Ball along with seeing Studio Ghibli films, I would never gotten myself interested in watching anime. May this man rest in peace. 2. I’m not familiar when it comes to Rooster Teeth but I am aware of their controversial things they have done in the past over the years. I don’t necessarily blame them in getting shutdown especially when Warner Bros never prioritized them as a legit studio after going through acquisitions from Time Warner, to AT&T, and to Discovery over the years. I hope these animators find better jobs though. 3. Inside Out 2 has the potential to become great with it animation, exploration Riley as a teenager, and new emotions, but what I’m concerned the most if this sequel is going to rehash like the first movie where Joy and her friends get separated from their mind of Riley like what they did with the first film. I don’t like it when sequels intends rehash some scenes to it predecessor but unless they find something new, then it won’t be as amazing as the original. Hope it good though. 4. The Wild Robot has the potential to be one of DreamWorks’s best films given that Chris Sander is directing that movie, the animation looks lovely, and some very heart warming moments. My biggest concern is the all star cast that they’re bringing in because if they are bringing in just for the purpose of cringe comedy as opposed to being a silent film, then it would likely hurt this movie. I see more pro than cons on this one so I hope it looked great when it comes out. 5. Kung Fu Panda 4 was a big disappointment to me considering I am a big fan of the films and grew up with it as well. I had a feeling there were some corporate meddling going on during the making of this sequel and Q&A discord by Stephanie Ma Stine really proves my theory. From not giving any backstory to Zhen and the Chameleon, to adding Lord Shen and General Kai along with the Furious Five at the very last minute, to mandate 90 minutes runtime, to not paying actors like Angelina Jolie for the purpose of budget cuts, and to even attempting to make a live action animation hybrid movie involving human actors in a Kung Fu Panda movie. The latter I gotta say I am shock that Universal and DreamWorks Animation would dare try to pull a jump the shark moment for this franchise which I’m glad they a dodge a bullet on that one. If I were to blame for how this movie turns out, I blame Universal Pictures as they don’t understand what made the films so beloved by fans in the first place and even Mike Mitchell, the director of this sequel, for making some controversial choices especially making this just a comedy film instead leaning towards something like the first two films. If I were in charge, I would just bring either Jennifer Yuh Nelson to return with this sequel or bring Stine to be the director of this film since she the only in this production team that cares about this franchise. Along with bring in new writers, bring the Furious Five as well as paying the actors back to reprise their roles and stick to the Shifu getting kidnap plot line while still having Po getting a new successor as the next Dragon Warrior since that idea does sounds interesting than what we got with this film. Seriously, I would love to bring back the relationship between Po and Tigress on their growing friendship (potential romance for some that ship the relationship) instead of that buddy comedy dynamic with that Awkwafina fox which Awkwafina still playing the same character that she did in previous films. If not, then we got instead is this unnecessary sequel that no one ask for especially with the six part movie series plan that Jeffery Katzenberg wanted this franchise to be. So yeah, I feel sorry for Stine about all this and blame the corporate heads at Universal and Mike Mitchell for how the fourth film turns out.
Well, Mike Mitchel is also the same guy who directed Shrek Forever After which got mixed reviews with critics saying “it’s better than the 3rd but it’s not saying much. Maybe 4th installments aren’t really his specialty
Don't forget Sailor Moon 😮 RIP...Man😢 Pixar is mad!!! The old Emotion is disney, New enotion is Pixar 😳 Pixar is mad 😠 😠😠 Wall-E, Bambi in DreamWorks 😮Because the actor Strike.
Akira Toriyama) In terms of 90’s anime, I was more into series like Sailor Moon & Pokemon. But as a kid, I do remember watching a couple episodes of Dragon Ball Z on Toonami. There is no denying of the cultural impact Dragon Ball has made, and it’s all thanks to Akira Toriyama. May he rest in peace…🐉🟠 Rooster Teeth) The only shows I know from them are Red VS Blue (Because my sister used to watch it) and R.W.B.Y. (Because of AniMat’s Reviews😸) But it’s sad to see the studio closed down due to acquisitions that really screwed them over in the end.🐓🦷 Inside Out 2) This is my most anticipated animated film of 2024, since Pixar is my favorite animation studio! (So take that, Disney haters!😛) I’m really liking the new emotions and the idea of them potentially being villains. Hopefully this will be just as great as the first Inside Out!🟡🔵🔴🟢🟣 The Wild Robot) This trailer really surprised me!🙀 I think that using the same art style from Puss In Boots: The Last Wish works great here. However I also think the story does feel like The Iron Giant & Cast Away mixed together, but execution is everything and who knows, maybe this is going to be the next hit from Dreamworks Animation!🤖 Kung Fu Panda 4) I know this is going to be a controversial opinion, but I never liked Kung Fu Panda and I always thought the fourth film was just completely unnecessary!😾 Now learning that the production was affected by creative / executive interference feels like salt to an open wound. My heart goes out to Stephanie Ma Stine, and I hope she does get the chance to really show what's she capable of on her next project…💙
Shifu said to Po in the scene while confronting Zhen that the chemeleon is the job for the Furious Five but that's a lie even when po says he was right about not handling it as in not there so he & Zhen go down to Joonifer city 🏙️ just that also They were maikng this act like it's From the minion studio so HOW DARE THEY!

I don't think Mike Mitchell was the best choice to direct Kung Fu Panda 4.
(R.I.P. Akira Toriyama 🕊)
If you ask me, Joel Crawford should've take the helm since he was a story artist on the past 3 films!! Seriously, how do you mess that up?!!!
With the justice league crossover with RWBY, you would think that WB would keep RWBY…
Maybe 4th installments aren’t really his specialty
happy pie day
Kung Fu Panda 4 could have been better if it wasn't rushed :(
Well they did say they were planning 3 more with 5 and 6
Exactly, it needed one more rewrite and time to produce
Don't forget Sailor Moon 😮 RIP...Man😢 Pixar is mad!!! The old Emotion is disney, New enotion is Pixar 😳 Pixar is mad 😠 😠😠 Wall-E, Bambi in DreamWorks 😮Because the actor Strike.
Dragon ball inspired the big three but isn’t part of Naruto and one piece the third one is actually Bleach
May he rest in peace…🐉🟠
Rooster Teeth) The only shows I know from them are Red VS Blue (Because my sister used to watch it) and R.W.B.Y. (Because of AniMat’s Reviews😸) But it’s sad to see the studio closed down due to acquisitions that really screwed them over in the end.🐓🦷
Inside Out 2) This is my most anticipated animated film of 2024, since Pixar is my favorite animation studio! (So take that, Disney haters!😛) I’m really liking the new emotions and the idea of them potentially being villains. Hopefully this will be just as great as the first Inside Out!🟡🔵🔴🟢🟣
The Wild Robot) This trailer really surprised me!🙀 I think that using the same art style from Puss In Boots: The Last Wish works great here. However I also think the story does feel like The Iron Giant & Cast Away mixed together, but execution is everything and who knows, maybe this is going to be the next hit from Dreamworks Animation!🤖
Kung Fu Panda 4) I know this is going to be a controversial opinion, but I never liked Kung Fu Panda and I always thought the fourth film was just completely unnecessary!😾 Now learning that the production was affected by creative / executive interference feels like salt to an open wound.
Listen to this scene when shifu said that the chameleon was the job for the furious five why would they made him say that?
