  • This video shows you how to estimate your VO2 max, a good indicator of cardiovascular fitness, with a 3 minute at-home test.
VO2 max is one of the best predictors of longevity and is something that will naturally decline with age.
As this is an exercise test, please speak to your doctor if you are in any doubt as to whether it is safe for you to complete this test.

Hi I have Polar h10 strap and I use Polar app. It measures pulse in bpm at a [particular point. How to make it measure no of beats over 15 secs?

I'm not sure, but I believe the 15 second count is about something called "heart rate recovery" which is a measure of how quickly you can bring your heart rate down after exercise. If all you have is real-time bpm I would check your pulse straight after finishing the step test, then again 15 seconds later. Take the average of those two numbers and divide by 4 to get an equivalent of 15 second heartbeats.

@@9to5strength if you are going to take BPMs in 15 sec intervel, no need to divide by 4. Or is it?

I did the test today and it was 59. Results from other tests were between 40 and 46, so bit surprised at this. Not bad for a 71 year old
