I personally picked flag C, and much prefer it to the Isle of Wight flag anyway! Enjoyed following this walk - and your edited map with red lines of 'good bits' is actually quite useful :)
Round the twist was a good theme tune, Teenage mutant ninja turtles too! And fresh prince of course 😁 anythin I could learn all the words to and annoyingly sing along with! The Vectis trail seemed like it was gonna be a bit of a let-down on that first day, but you came across some real gems and some beautiful scenery, it definitely made for a great watch, so thanks for taking us along!!! 👏🏼
I would still do the Coastal Path ahead of the Vectis Trail. I think I altered some bits of the trail to avoid cow fields in Brading and annoying pointless climbs. It is pretty hard to do a bad walk on the island. Ha.
Brilliant! I've just binge watched the last 4 eps of the Vectis trail. In some strange way I feel I'm sharing your sense of achievement in doing all those hills!
The best TV theme tune is a toss-up between the 90s X-Men cartoon, and The Raggy Dolls for me. I might have to go with the dolls: catchy tune, and excellent life advice all in one.
Had a cracking morning of Pooman with my 7 and 4 year old yesterday, Marek. Nice one I thought the theme to the TV version of the Dilbert cartoon was great.
Nice one. Enjoyed it all, really appreciate you posting these vids. Robinson Crusoe theme tune melted my heart each time my son watched it. Thanks for posting and all the other bonkers stuff you do.
The theme tune to the Poddington Peas was a banger, but my number 1 has to be the outro music to Bert Raccoon (Run with us by Lisa Lougheed). It genuinely should have been a smash hit.
I know all the words to the Poddington Peas, an excellent tune. Run with Us was a odd choice for a cartoon as it is more like a Karate Kid song than a cartoon theme I always thought.
My favorite themes from childhood Knight Rider, MacGyver, Golden girls. From teen years Beverly Hills 90210, Friends. Also loved The Heights ´ theme ( this one was short-lived series )

Beautiful views again, what lovely weather we've had this year, loved it. The Equalizee was indeed the best, Airwolf was prety decent and Hardcastle & McCormick was awesome but for some reason they changed it in season 2. Starsky & Hutch was another goodie as well as The Professionals which was favourite for incidental music during the show (previously looked to see what the library music was but to no avail). If youve a Morrisons on the island you might like their granola cookies things, amazing lunch fodder.

I watched the first six episodes of Sapphire and Steel the other day. It was absolutely terrifying. Just started editing the Halloween video. Nice one.

I lost count the number of times I posted the intro to survivors whilst in lockdown on twitter :) As for Blakes 7, this is a show I hope they never remake/reimagine as, although it had a low budget and some roapy episodes, the remainder are well written and in some cases very adult in their material, and it is one of my all-time favourite shows.

One of the best walks on the Vectis so far. Been to winkle street many times. Pity about the wheelie bins, but that’s progress I suppose. Favourite theme tunes were Thunderbirds and Fireball XL5. Love the painting. Already put a bid in. You should turn them into prints so more people can appreciate your work
I was born and brought up on the Island and my family always called it Shorwell as it is spelled but I think my Nan’s generation pronounced it the other way. I loved the theme tunes to Double Deckers, Rentaghost, The Monkees and Bananas Splits when I was a child in the 70s
Well done for completing the set of walks, really entertaining. I got the first question wrong, in the first video, then was not bothered anymore, no prize anyway, so what's the point...
Congrats on completing another epic walk CD#1. If you want to see Giant Redwoods then there are two in the New Forest at the Blackwater Arboretum. Allegedly there are around half a million in the UK at different locations. Failing that, get to Oregon or Vancouver Island.
Yet another fantastic walk Marek. I'd have to go for dogtanian and the three muskehounds as my favourite TV theme tune. Just out of curiosity, is it all filmed on your go pro?
Cracking series, sir. with regrds TV themes, Rhubarb & Custard, or Grange Hill for the younger audience, moving to Airwolf in your teens. And I think you asked about favourite places to vist/walk in the last video. I would have to suggest Little Solsbury hill, outside Bath. It features in the Peter Gabriel song of the same name, though not in the video ( was it directed by Sunglasses Marek?) CD #123 PS, yes, all landowners should be required to maintain footpaths on their land by law.
The theme from Detectorists always makes me smile (probably because the programme itself is so lovely). Don't think it's old enough to be a 'classic' yet though... Somebody already mentioned the Family Ness and it seems that the same chap also made Jimbo and the Jet Set, which itself also had a great theme tune (also by the same, different, people)!
Have enjoyed watching all 6 stages of the Vectis Trail. Great to see The Longstone, Brighstone Forest & what an intriguing story about Lucy Lightfoot. Great time-lapse views also! I will never tire of seeing the Isle. Wish I could get over more than once or twice a year to do some Walking & off road cycling. My favourite theme tune is still The Professionals with the dynamic duo. I was out on stage 5 but got stage 6 correct, so can I have the Freedom of the Isle of Wight please? Another great watercolour painting!
You can have the freedom of the Isle of Wight on weekends and bank holidays for getting five correct. My favourite bit was the time travelling church too.
Great ending to this series - my fave walks would be those from days 5 and 6. There were some amazing “big sky” views on day 6. I recall that my favourite tv show theme tunes when i was a nipper were that of “The Banana Splits”, Spike Milligan’s Q7 and Bob Godfrey’s “Noah & Nelly”. And good luck with seeing Giant Redwoods, i finally saw some in Golden Gate Park 3-4 weeks ago but wish we could have afforded to cross the Golden Gate Bridge to visit Muir Woods to see some mature trees (San Fran is ludicrously expensive)
When I get a million TH-cam members I will get a ticket to the States to do some walks. I want to watch a baseball game live too, the minor league ones look cool.
Great video as always.. As for theme tunes (bit of a pattern here but..) StreetHawk, Automan and of course Airwolf were a few of my fav's. Can never forget City's of Gold as a stone cold classic but my favourite of all time was and still is The Galaxy Rangers 🙂
Brilliant video, there's an excellent audio adaptation of Children of the Stones with Reece Shearsmith via Bafflegab Productions. Also would recommend Moondial, Earthfasts, The Owl Service and the Children's Film Foundation Collection Volume Four: Scary Stories (DVD) for other spooky folk horror children's programs.
Hey cool dude. I'm thinking of popping over to the Isle of White for an overnight trip, arriving late morning on a Sunday, leaving late morning Monday. I'm not driving. If you were me, where would you go for some natural beauty and old world charm?
It all depends where you are staying as the Sunday bus service is terrible. I would go somewhere close to where you are based, Ryde is not that great if you are based there, but you can walk along the beach path to Seaview. If you are going to Yarmouth I would check out Newtown Creek or go to Tennyson Down and Freshwater Bay (also it is Isle of Wight )
I defeated the moron! Aha 😄 He reminded me of my reoccurring nightmare I had as a kid.. where this big shadow of a man, who had no face & a big snarling beast of a dog on a lead, chased behind me as I ran crying for my family to help me.. they were all on a boat sailing away from the island.. waving. Savage. We were in Ryde I think.. my gawd, that dream haunted me for months nearly every night! 😅
People with no faces are very scary. I used to have one about a man with a beard slowly walking up circular stair holding a sledgehammer over is shoulder. My view was looking down on him and he was coming up towards.....my bedroom! AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGHHHHHH
Favourite kids themes is a toss up between Chorlton and the Wheelies, and you said it yourself, Ulysses 31. Favourite adult TV theme... probably Prisoner Cell Block H. Shut up I like soppy songs.
I forgot about Chorlton and the Wheelies, that was an excellent one. Here is the Ulysses 31 Redux that no-one has waited to the end it bit when I talk about it : th-cam.com/video/QMpf1D3YohU/w-d-xo.html
@@cdwc I've got the DVD of series 1 and 2. Shame the 3rd one got cancelled. I've even got a prequal book on my Kindle somewhere. That's a good read too.
Theme songs that did it for me we're Fraggil Rock, Street hawk, Airwolf, A Team, Cheers (learn that one dude it's Bb F for the most part), Thundercats, inspector gadget, ah man I'll be here all day. The 80's had all the best telly themes. They are all some other band's song these days. Ps I'm amazing my badge is still on your backpack. Did you weld it on?
Great theme tunes. It is incredible the badge has stayed on. I have lost so many. I think I have learned to put push the pin in really far. Maybe it is the mesh on the Osprey straps.
2:55 For me (and I'm undoubtedly forgetting some) the theme tune that broke out of the "jingle genre" was Gladiators, I can still listen to that without the depressing whiff of nostalgia setting in. The best theme tune I think is Only Fools and Horses, long enough so that when I hear it in another room, I know how long I've got to get my food & drink and sit down, lol.
Well done Marek. “The secret of Nihm” in the early 80’s was my favourite. Hmmm possibly why I won’t kill the rodents in our house now. We had 42 mice at the time as pets. We came home one day and our cats had left all their tails lined up on the front door step. 😢
I am not a fan of mice. I have some sad news, you were the 116th person to join on TH-cam who is still a member in the last draw, so you missed out on the strawberry laces by one.
@@cdwc Have you seem the movie? Strawberry laces… now that’s just cruel. Hang on, I thought I was 121 or 129? I’m having a existential crisis about what number I am.
So… You don’t like pigeons and you don’t like mice and rats. I assume that means also Guinea pigs and hamsters etc. You don’t like dogs and I assume cats too. You definitely don’t like cows. You are not allowed near sheep, we all know why. I fear that the only animal you appreciate is the red squirrel, and only because you can’t find one regularly enough to hate. And quite frankly you eat way to much pig in the form of sausage and ham so you clearly don’t appreciate pigs alive either. Is there any animal you like Marek? 🤔
Ps it’s a movie where the whole story is about moving a breeze block. For that reason alone you should watch it. Might make you slightly less grumpy about rodents.
My favourite childhood theme tune was the pips before the news. Those beautiful beeps heralded another instalment of wars, disasters and Thatcher-inspired economic and social injustice. I was a strange child….
Lovely series . Regarding the challenge, I checked the probability for this series and if chosen randomly, there is a 1 in 121.5 chance of choosing all of the correct answers. This isn't a perfect figure, because it is clear that no one would choose Bob to build the light house in challenge 5, and maybe not the codpiece in challenge 3. Nevertheless, it was a tough series of challenges to survive!
Thanks cool dude. I think two people completed the challenge according to the comments, it was probably a bit too difficult early on. I will adapt the questions in future, but I normally set them towards the end of walks when I am too tired.
@@cdwc I was not complaining - just sharing the stats. Making it difficult makes it more fun when one wins! Can't make it too easy on us. Also, I watched the Children of the Stones - excellent. Reminded me a bit of Over Sea Under Stone.
Strangely enough they came and sat on the hill with me and the first cyclist recognised me, he was a friend of a friend. It was the son of Richard Stilgoe and Jazz singer Joe Stilgoe!
Now, my fave was actually the end theme to The Racoons called 'Run With Us'.....and honestly, I can't think of another show that had a exit theme....can you?
Excellent job cool dude. Winkle Street looks incredibly overrated however I did like the watercolor. As for good theme songs I remember liking the opening song to the show Pete and Pete which was on Nickelodeon in the states. I'm not sure if it ever made it out here but it was a great show. I also remember Malcolm in the Middle and Buffy the Vampire Slayer having catchy songs.
failed the challenge on day 2, woe is me good walks marek please target the steam railway one day and my home born village of havenstreet, you went very near during the wootton circular walk at Pondcast Lane, but sadly didnt film the village itself. fair enough.
I have a picture of Winkle Street that I got on a visit to the Island. I thought it wonderful but when I got it home, I decided it was horrible and it is hidden behind the sofa waiting for me to take it to a charity shop. Or I may just burn it 🔥🖼🔥Yours is much nicer. Hawaii 5 0 or Banana Splits
One of my favourite theme tunes was Tangerine Dreams theme for the short lived Street Hawk. Another of those post Knight Rider "Super vehicle" shows. th-cam.com/video/XvXhhgTftGc/w-d-xo.html
My favourite was The Money Programme. When the theme started I would do a manic Cossack dance which continued until bedtime. Just been bingeing Taskmaster (Really dislike the theme tune though) and hoping you are a contestant somewhen. Cheers cool dude
When I worked for a media monitoring company around 2001 time, I had to watch every episode of the Money Programme as well as lots of other stuff. I was surprised that it became one of my favourite television programmes. I liked the bald bloke called Adam and the bloke with the frizzy red hair.
If I had to choose specifically the main themes I would choose M*A*S*H and Golden Girls. If I had to choose shows that over all have amazing music in them I would choose Walking Dead and MTV's Teen Wolf; just so much excellent instrumental music in both these shows.
Here we go again.....comments mysteriously evaporating into thin air.....if at first you don't succeed, try, try again I guess....Soooooo, 2nd time of trying....in a nutshell, love the last part of the Vectis Trail, and the painting 🎨of Winkle Street, just wish I could afford to bid on it! Looking forward to the Zine with the images. Tunes too many to mention, but Hill Street Blues I always liked, Dallas (you ain't never gonna take John Ross...) and more recently Poldark theme music. And husband insisted I mention Star Trek or I will not Live Long and Prosper otherwise and will be beamed up. Can I please have a small portion of the Freedom of the IOW as I got 4 out of 6 right including B today! (my freedom portion being the bench in Rhylstone Gardens by the Elvis Plaque!). Hope this message stays up and doesn't replicate like the last video! x J x
Four out of six is enough for weekend freedom of the Isle of Wight. I have no idea why comments are disappearing, someone else said it has happened to them. I have had replies disappear sometimes too, may TH-cam is not refreshing properly.
Great video as always! My fave TV theme tune will always be Trap Door. Late eighties/early nineties nostalgia at its best!
Yes Trapdoor was a good one.
The Jonathan Creek theme tune will always be a personal favourite the windmill where Jonathan lived is actually in West Sussex
I will have to keep an eye out for it on future walks cool dude.
round the twist was a great theme tune. can still remember all the words
Good theme tune cool dude.
Ooooh favorite theme tune...probably the theme from the mighty ducks cartoon. Really sick rock song from the 90s.

There is a lot of love for Round the Twist on here.

All good shouts. The second mention of The Money Programme.
Another superb walk, Cool Dude
My favourite TV theme is the end music of The Sweeney. Excitement over - time for bed 😴
The Sweeney had excellent music. The responses has made me realise that theme tunes were much better 20 years ago.
I liked the Knight Rider theme too. The Professionals theme tune was great. Enjoyed this series Marek.
Thanks Trev. It was wonderful to see Tamara at Wightlink the other day. Hopefully see you both about soon.
Well done for finishing the trail
One of my favourite TV themes has to be Red Dwarf. I can’t not sing along.
Thanks cool dude. I once did a job with 'Cat', he told me he was one of Chilly Down gang in Labyrinth. Cool.
That’s awesome. Now I really want to watch Labyrinth. Talking of Jim Henson, the Fraggle Rock theme was great too.
So many themes that evoke great memories but I'll just pick The Flumps.
That is a cracker.
Blimey I remember Children of the Stones!!!
Favourite theme tunes:
- Grange Hill
- Last of the Summer Wine
- Captain Pugwash
Children of the Stones is definitely worth watching again. Ommmmmmmmmmmmm (that is my impression of the song)
The real adventures of Jonny quest had an amazing theme tune. Better than the cartoon itself

@@cdwc Many thanks!
As for theme tunes (bit of a pattern here but..)
StreetHawk, Automan and of course Airwolf were a few of my fav's.
Can never forget City's of Gold as a stone cold classic but my favourite of all time was and still is The Galaxy Rangers 🙂
Streethawk was excellent. I remember watching it when it came out thinking it was the greatest programme of all time. I think I was ten.
I guessed flag A in the challenge and plunged the Isle of White into darkness and I'm HAPPY about it! Take that Isle of White.... ALL HAIL MORON!!!!!!
Moron is pleased that you agree with him. Everyone on the Isle of Wight is displeased and also upset that you called it the Isle of White.
@@cdwc ahhhh i dont know why i did that, ive been there so many times as well.
my fav tv themes growing up were...Bananaman...The Raccoons...Big Break and last but not least The Raggydolls
Arrrrrrgggghhhhhh!!! I hated The Raggydolls theme.
@@cdwc sorry about that sadsack 😋
Brilliant video, there's an excellent audio adaptation of Children of the Stones with Reece Shearsmith via Bafflegab Productions.
Also would recommend Moondial, Earthfasts, The Owl Service and the Children's Film Foundation Collection Volume Four: Scary Stories (DVD) for other spooky folk horror children's programs.
Will check out that audio version cool dude. I remember watching Moondial when it was first on. I read the book this year and really enjoyed it.
Best theme tune is easily The Racoons. Knight Rider is up there as is thundercats.
They are good (apart from Thundercats - ha).
@@cdwc Thank you!
I defeated the moron! Aha 😄
He reminded me of my reoccurring nightmare I had as a kid.. where this big shadow of a man, who had no face & a big snarling beast of a dog on a lead, chased behind me as I ran crying for my family to help me.. they were all on a boat sailing away from the island.. waving.
My fave kids TV themes were/are The Trap Door, Inspector Gadget and You and Me, which I recently found out was done by UB40! 👌😁
That is an excellent fact about UB40, thanks cool dude.
@@cdwc Brilliant. Whenever you ring your dad he should respond with you are alive my son!
The Equaliser, Miami vice, Airwolf. I’ve not watched regular tv since 2015. Are theme tunes still a thing?
I don't really watch TV either apart from old stuff.
TV theme - The Tripods.
I remember watching it when it came out and I was terrified. I want to see it again to judge how much it ripped off War of the Worlds.
@@cdwc Osprey better be paying you for all this advertising
2:55 For me (and I'm undoubtedly forgetting some) the theme tune that broke out of the "jingle genre" was Gladiators, I can still listen to that without the depressing whiff of nostalgia setting in.
The best theme tune I think is Only Fools and Horses, long enough so that when I hear it in another room, I know how long I've got to get my food & drink and sit down, lol.
No Income Tax, no VAT. Excellent.
Cities of gooooooooooooooooooooold
Ha. That was one of my worst theme tunes.
Theme tune? The Family Ness
I liked the drawings in that.
Hi Marek, thanks for another lovely walking vid. But I had an off topic question: did Siri ever call you Marek and not Mahhhrek?
I think it called me by my correct name once strangely, but never again.
Theme to Robinson Crusoe 65-66.
I will have to google it.
@@cdwc We oldies were bought up on this in the long school summer holidays back in the day!
Airwolf used to be mine
Oh, and Rainbow.
Rainbow is great and Zippy is the best.
@@cdwc I failed two challenges in the end. I am not worthy.
@@cdwc I was not complaining - just sharing the stats. Making it difficult makes it more fun when one wins! Can't make it too easy on us. Also, I watched the Children of the Stones - excellent. Reminded me a bit of Over Sea Under Stone.
@@jenniferburk7965 I failed at the first challenge :(
5:45 Was that The Goodies?
Strangely enough they came and sat on the hill with me and the first cyclist recognised me, he was a friend of a friend. It was the son of Richard Stilgoe and Jazz singer Joe Stilgoe!
@@cdwc wow! I remember Richard Stilgoe - he used to do those witty piano pieces at the end of Nationwide in the 1970s 😊
trapdoor was the best music
A lot of people agree with you on here.
Now, my fave was actually the end theme to The Racoons called 'Run With Us'.....and honestly, I can't think of another show that had a exit theme....can you?
Quite a few people on here are fans of that Racoons song cool dude.
Grange Hill for comedy tune Original Avengers 1960's theme for power tune.
Who cares about this mid nineties bollocks.
failed the challenge on day 2, woe is me
good walks marek
please target the steam railway one day and my home born village of havenstreet, you went very near during the wootton circular walk at Pondcast Lane, but sadly didnt film the village itself. fair enough.
Yes Havenstreet is a good idea. Maybe I will do a steam journey, like in the walking programmes on TV when they never actually do any walking. Ha.
Favourite TV themes include, Robinson Crusoe, Follyfoot, Dr Who and Hadleigh. Current TV themes are not as memorable as they used to be.
I strongly agree with you that TV theme tunes are not as good any more.
Maybe someone will buy mine and then burn it. Ha.
One of my favourite theme tunes was Tangerine Dreams theme for the short lived Street Hawk. Another of those post Knight Rider "Super vehicle" shows.
th-cam.com/video/XvXhhgTftGc/w-d-xo.html
I remember watching the first episode of Streethawk thinking he was the epitome of cool (even though I did not know the word epitome back then).
The Andrew Gold original of Thank you for Being a Friend is one of my all time favourite songs.
Did anyone else fail at the final hurdle? Sorry for plunging the Isle of Wight into darkness.
My electricity bill is going to be huge.
Oh yes I remember Children of the Stones. It was probably better than Dr Who The Stones of Blood (which maybe was inspired by it).
I walked in a redwood forest once and it made me wonder how forest Indians to live in such places, as they are freezing.
I'll pack a warm coat when I go.

I’ve condemned the island to darkness. Moron wins. But I flunked out week 1 so…
I can't believe Mauron has taken over the Isle of Wight thanks to you.
