    I personally test-rode the Ducati Monster, the KTM Duke 890 and the Kawasaki Z900. And finally ordered the new XSR900. Why? Because it convinced me the most due to its looks, its technics package and assumed reliability.

    I know a lot of people are not fans of the seat, and I was one of them. That being said, it has really grown on me and I'm really starting to like it a lot. I'm in my mid 50's which probably plays a role.

    dzus fasteners are ok, but the ones with the wire handle that you seem to like the look of can be removed by a ten year old. the flush-fit ones which open with a coin are better all round. form over function

    really good, helpful review .... covers the important stuff with just enough detail to get a good feel for the bike, and now I'm thinking hard about trading my 2021 street triple rs for the xsr900? Any opinions on that, thanks.

    Nice little review of the new XSR sounds like an awesome bike but I must say that I don't agree with you on the seat its absolutely hideous too the extent that I would have considered buying one as everything else is awesome especially the colour scheme!! 👌🏻👍🏻 But that's seat unit is awful fella!! 🤮👎🏻

    • @DJPTEXAS
      @DJPTEXAS 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed ! they could have done a cowl cover on a regular seat that would be removable......

    • @davelawrence594
      @davelawrence594 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Alaberti Yes indeed I very much respect your opinion too but unfortunately I am a very fussy person & something like that is a noo no to me as its absolutely hideous if its wasn't as bad as it is wouldn't be too bad but Noo way sorry fella? 🤮

    • @davelawrence594
      @davelawrence594 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Alaberti Yes quite agree but that's OK if the rear light isn't built into the seat Coz it looks very much like it is, only seeing it in the flesh would you be able to see Coz apart from that what a bike & colour scheme!! 👌🏻👍🏻

    • @amococ2487
      @amococ2487 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davelawrence594I know this is a bit late, but obviously the light is not in the actual seat. How would that work with wires attached to the seat when you take it off 😅. The seat sits on top of the light unit. There are a few aftermarket seats. Corbin and Kelpi (most probably others) but they are pretty expensive. Seat is a bit fugly in my opinion aswell.

    Soft suspension? I just used an MT07 for my mod 1 and 2 tests and passed, so I bought one of these, it's way firmer than the MT07, can't imagine wanting it any firmer, but then I'm a new rider with very little experience, love the bike though, even for a new rider it's fine in power mode 3 until I get used to it

  • @TheOriginalCoda
    @TheOriginalCoda ปีที่แล้ว

    "The suspension is too soft"? Maybe that's because you're on the 'smooth-as-glass' roads of Tuscany? I test rode one of these in the potholed shit-covered roads of the UK and in my case it was like riding a un-suspended penny-farthing. This bike NEEDS the SP suspenders, the plushness of the Ohlins for the road, which can be wound up for the track. If there was an XSR900-SP I would have bought it already. I think I'm gonna have to go for the MT09-SP instead.

      I own the older one and was looking forward to getting the new one, but the looks have stopped me.

  • @leanit5756
    @leanit5756 ปีที่แล้ว

    As delivered with the factory settings, the suspension is absolute complete shit, but I don't think that it is too soft. There is too much compression damping in the shock. The springs are fine for a 170 pounder. The rebound screws on both the fork and shock need to be turned in almost all the way, and little bit in on the fork compression. After that, the bike rails. Though it will never like sharp bumps due to the already mentioned excessive compression damping in the shock, which is not adjustable.

  • @exothermal.sprocket
    @exothermal.sprocket 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Three issues, otherwise I think it's perfect:
    Seat
    Small TFT that is hard to read in sun
    Small fuel capacity
    Sorry to start off this comment on negatives. I think this bike is superb, it's been at the top of my list with a Z900 or GSX-S1000 (new versions). Both of those are smoother engines, make more power, have larger fuel range, but aren't as technological and don't have cruise control. However, I think all the whizbang electronics (R1-like stuff obviously) may be a quicker sacrifice for having more fuel range and smoother more powerful engines. Yamaha's triple isn't a slouch, don't get me wrong.

    • @hg8477
      @hg8477 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      so would you get gsxs1000 or XSR900?

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hg8477 Hard to say honestly. Both have their appeals. The 'Zuk would make over 150 hp at the wheel (prior to 2021), that has it's own appeal. The XSR is a wonderful sounding and entertaining engine, with a cruise. That also has its appeal.

    • @hg8477
      @hg8477 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@exothermal.sprocket so which one? if you have to choose one

    • @chrisw4215
      @chrisw4215 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hg8477 I have precisely the same dilemma, and 90% will choose xsr.
      Here is why:
      1. valve intervals: suzuki 14500 miles, xsr 24000 miles
      2. fuel efficiency better at xsr
      3. xsr has cruise control (it's not so important) but has cornering ABS (that's important)
      4. better screen on xsr, ok it's small but its perfectly fine when you ride the bike
      I see only one drawback regarding xsr, turning radius is wide. I don't like it. What are your thoughts?

    • @inked-96
      @inked-96 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The suzuki is a very basic bike in comparison. Engine and frame. That's it..
      The xsr900 shouldn't be compared to it. The mt10 should be...
      Retro vs naked. Different categories.
      Xsr is loads of electronics. Including cruise. Cheaper out the door as well. Looks better.
