My father in law has CHF. He was prescribed 160mg of lasiks for a couple of weeks to reduce his edema. I’m a pre-PA student, and I work for a dialysis company, so I fear for his kidneys hearing that. When I saw his GFR went to 22 I felt this video. It’s so hard to balance both the cardio and nephro side, this video couldn’t be more accurate.

Yes!! My son was born with grade 4 hydronephrosis. He's 23 now so we've been around urologists and nephrologists since I was 8 months pregnant with him! He's had 12 surgeries so far. Such amazing doctors! Always made me feel like I wasn't alone.

I think this is my favourite ending yet. I recall as an FY2 about a decade ago being the go between in the middle of a cardiology renal medicine fight about a patient with both heart failure and renal failure. One wanted dialysis, the other wanted to reduce the furosemide. I just wanted to get on with my ever growing list of crap jobs and prayed neither wanted a contrast CT. But alas the next day sats dropped and HR increased so the on call weekend consultant wanted a CTPA. God I love being away from the hospital.

Yeah…I don’t think it’s really common enough or well known enough to have recognizable habits and traits like the main residencies and specialities that many people would find instantly funny and relatable. Plus, other than some of your hospital based occ health clinic, most are just covered by family practice trained providers.

Having worked with nephrologists,majority of them do not observe social cues. One didn’t make eye contact with me until he decided to yell at me for not signing transportation paperwork in the box that was clearly marked physician. Yes he learned about encroachment of personal space and voice tones that day.
Last one was sadly truth😢 I don't wanna be disrespectful to anyone just want to share a story. my uncle admitted in hospital for cardiac arrest and cardiologist didn't tried to consult with nephrologist, then the worst thing happened. Both of his kidney shut down and he die*d after two days. And then cardio doc wrote on file: cause of death, patient had overdose on Tylenol that's why both of his kidney shutted down. Nephrologist was so pissed that's why he tried to sue cardiologist. Because my uncle was a pathologist himself so there was no way he overdosed himself consciously. That was a horrible day of our life. Please doctors🙏 never try to be too confident on own self because people's lives on your hand
And when confronted, they will either come up with "everyone has two kidneys but only one heart, so I am losing any sleep over killing a kidney" or "people can live without kidneys, can they live without a heart?"
Tell that to the nephrologist who chewed up a cardiologist and spit them out in front of EVERYONE in the ICU. 😂 she had some big balls. Yelling “I CAN FIX THE EFFING KIDNEYS! BUT YOU KILLED THE EFFING HEART!!! HOW IN THE HELL WAS I SUPPOSED TO FIX THAT? SHE IS DEAD BECAUSE OF YOU!” And flew off. I liked being a fly on the wall that day. One nephrologist taking down three of the highest cardiac doctors in the hospital. They walked away like scared puppies.
