- On todays visit, I go to pay my respects to a PC that was killed whilst on duty. This is a True Crime
The Shepherd's Bush murders, also known as the Massacre of Braybrook Street, involved the murder of three police officers in London by Harry Roberts, John Duddy, and John Witney in 1966.[
The officers had stopped to question the three men as they were sitting in a car on Braybrook Street, near Wormwood Scrubs prison. Roberts shot dead Temporary Detective Constable David Wombwell and Detective Sergeant Christopher Head, whilst Duddy shot dead Police Constable Geoffrey Fox

A police officer never knows what he or she will meet when called out on a job,they are very brave.
So true, some of the stories my boyfriend has told me about his time as a police officer (mainly how he got his scars).
My father is a retired police officer for the Greater Manchester Police & he received several commendations for above and beyond the call of duty, he gave chase one evening before calling for back up & was hit on the neck with a crow bar subsequently breaking his neck.. fortunately his spinal cord wasn’t severed as my Dad had the good sense to lay still fearing it might be broken. He spent weeks in Manchester Royal Infirmary wearing a metal halo so his neck could mend properly. Like you say in your video my father entered the force to help & protect people he never knew from day to day what challenges lay ahead but my father was proud to be a police officer rising to the rank of sergeant before joining the CID and eventually becoming a DCI. My Mum was always on pins whenever there was a knock at the door or phone call fearing the worst. My Dad lives a quiet but happy retirement & it saddens him that some of his fellow officers haven’t managed to do the same 😢
I met and talked to Harry Roberts when I was working detached duty with the prison service at Littlehey Prison in 2014.
He seemed like just an average old boy, hard to think he did these horrendous crimes.
He was originally released from here on
11th November 2014 after serving 48 years
(15 Nov 1966 - 11 Nov 2014) Aged 78.
One of the longest serving life sentenced prisoners in England.
Deserved all he got in my opinion, killing three police officers in the line of duty. A few years earlier and he would have hung.

Killed in the line of duty is one of the worst things to hear about anyone. RIP PC Fox.
Ordinary people who do an extraordinary job
They seldom deserve the lambasting they get from the press, 99% of them would stand in harms way defend a stranger

I remember when this happened, I was only 15, the killer went on the run for about 3 months. Nobody deserves to not come home from work but sadly it happens every day for someone

Sad to have missed the premier of this, Paul. Very sad day in Met Police history. Geoff Fox was a uniformed PC being used by CID because he was an Advanced Driver, something not many CID officers were. That Triumph (Foxtrot One One) was repaired and put back into service but every driver on F Division refused to drive it.

The same night it happened people were queueing up giving flowers and donations because Geoff fox was a local bloke and a good guy all 3 were good guys but Geoff fox was so well known that the people of shepherd's Bush went over the top
I used to take my kids over to the scrubs when small. I grew up close to the area. But this was couple years before I was born. BUT there is a memorial for David Wombwell there. Its on Braybrook Street. Have walked passed it many times. But now I know the history behind it. Very sad. Thanks for sharing Paul.
I am disgusted that I had never heard of this. I was born in 1966 my grandad was a Kent policeman and my two sons were volunteer specials alongside their own jobs. They are not all bad. There are good and bad people in all walks of life. Killers/ criminals have been Drs, nurses, lawyers, dentists and pretty much from every profession. We have to get perspective here and these cases need to be highlighted to remind us of the positive work that is done.We should have a series on TV showing the sacrifices made by our guys and girls in blue and celebrate the work they do.Thank you Paul for reminding us all.❤

No emergency services crew should be killed or attacked or hurt, like you said Paul, whenever you need them, they will help you 😊.
But unfortunately we live in a evil and sick society that some people do hurt the emergency services crew.

Brutal obscene murder of three innocent police officers R.I.P, I was 11 years old at the time and I remember it well as he took some catching i think he was on the run for 90 odd days before he was arrested, well done Paul another great video made with compassion and respect. Cheers mate

This is my second comment on this case Paul, as I’ve done some research. This murderer, Harry Roberts, is now a free man walking our streets and shopping in Tesco, Peterborough. He was released in 2014 after serving 48 years in prison, despite having violently threatened a couple who gave him work when he was on day release towards the end of his incarceration !! Three police officers murdered, their families living a life sentence and he is buying biscuits in Tesco. He escaped the death penalty by only months, as it was abolished only the year before. No justice, just simply evil beyond all human belief. Why he was never given a whole life tariff is also beyond comprehension.
So very tragic 😢

I think you spoke really well at the end Paul…your quite right! It’s a shame there is always one or two + bad apples who spoil it all for others and give all a bad name. In these trying and tough times we all ought to pull together, and stop so much crime that’s going on with knives now. Sickening to hear another young life has been taken by stabbing…and for what!? why!? So much pain we are hearing more and more, it’s tragic. Time for another knife /gun amnesty and the old fashioned police who get to know everyone and are approachable,walking the beat, going to these schools. I’m very sad Police Officer Fox lost his life in such an awful way, and send deepest sympathy to his family, who must still suffer his loss. Godbless him and his family, and thanks Paul for speaking his name so he knows he’s not forgotten. Bless you Paul. 🙋♀️💐x🙏

What happened to the murderers?? I presume they were caught? I can’t remember if hanging had been abolished by then. If it had, what a pity. They all deserved the death penalty.

Very sympathetic video Paul, with all the usual Graces and Respect, As a retired Police Officer you get to remember most of these cases and thereare some well written books giving good accounts of these crimes. I have always wished we still had the rope and a few of the other punishments that were handed out but I can also relate to the general publics concerns of the finality of hanging and cases where people wrongly paid the ultimate price. RIP all those Police Officers who have died in the line of duty and condolences to all of their families.

As far as I'm concerned those 3 murderers being Roberts, Duddy and Whitney should have been kept locked up forever...I know that Duddy and Whitney are now deceased but Roberts is a free man and has been for several years...how is that right? Where is the justice?
Also people ( I'll refrain from calling them supporters) at football matches have been known to chant supportive songs about what Roberts did..they are truly vile sick individuals.

Harry Roberts John duddy and John Whitney were given life sentences with a recommendation they each serve 30 years duddy died in prison in 1981 Whitney was released in 1991 but was killed in 1999 in an unconnected incident Harry Roberts become one of the longest serving prisoners serving 48 years before his release in 2014 when Roberts was caught he had 2 of the guns used in the murder he said to the police officer you won't get any trouble from me I'm glad you've caught me
Hiya Paul, I'm from the same town as Derrick Bird, Derrick Bird went on rampage on June 2nd 2010, around the Whitehaven area, I don't know if you know the case? when Derrick Bird went through St Bees I'm glad the level crossing gates were up and my Mam and Dad could of been victims, Harry Roberts should never allowed to let out, the same as John Lennon's killer Mark Chapman, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumberland, England
